Rhino Cake Co

Just wanted to take the time to let you all know that this is the BEST cake I’ve ever had! Everyone at my daughter’s birthday party was super impressed and loved the cake… my grandpa has been a baker all his life and makes great cake… he is older and doesn’t always have the energy to make cakes anymore but he too agreed that Jeff made great cakes and are definitely worth the $$. I ordered a half sheet strawberries and cream cake and 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes… they are also delivered right to your door so it saves you the trouble of running around to get a cake on the day of your special event. I called him personally to thank him and to let him know that I would be in contact soon for my very own birthday cake!

It’s actually impossible for me to rate the cakes/​desserts because, I’ve never actually tasted anything.
So why the bad review, you ask? Because the lack of tasting is 100% due to lack of communication on the owner’s part. Here’s the rundown…
2007, I contacted him to request pricing/​menu for a cake for my child’s birthday party. I never heard back from him.
2008, I’m again looking for a birthday cake. After reading lots more awesome reviews on his cake skills and a personal recommendation, I decide to try him again. A couple of days go by and success… he’s available and sends me his info. I responded, asking for a quote for the idea (s) I had. A week later — nothing — no response whatsoever. I happened upon another idea I had and decided to ask him about that one instead. This was almost three weeks ago and I have still not heard from him. If he is unavailable — that’s fine and even somewhat expected — but even the busiest professional can take two seconds to say, «sorry — I’m unavailable».
Customer service, at least for me, is SEVERELY lacking. I would not recommend Rhino Cake Company to anyone.

Jeff deserves my first Unilocal review. I was looking for a cake artisan in sd that could deliver a cake to my fiancé for his bachelor party. My first goal was to find a great tasting cake without having tasted it. My second goal– to find someone capable of making a nice design without it looking to cheapy/​cheesy. First I found Jeff. Then I found a design online that I liked and emailed him the link and asked him to make some modifications. Jeff transferred the design onto the cake and made the modifications I wanted and then some. I saw a picture of the cake and couldnt have asked for more. The boys loved the raspberry truffle cake and it cured their hang-​over. Well, not really. But at least they had sustenance.

OOOH my god, this guy is my secret surprise for any sort of celebration. His cakes are made in from scratch, and each one is made with love. He also hand delivers each cake himself.
So great cakes, delicious tasting, great looking and personal service. You cannot ask for a better dessert company. It’s a one man show, so call in advance to see his availability, as he does book up.
I personally love the French Bavarian (vanilla cake with vanilla cream, and raspberry preserves), strawberry and cream cake (vanilla cake with strawberries and a non dairy whipped cream that melts in your mouth), and his amaretto almond cake (white almond cake filled with amaretto Bavarian custard and amaretto liquor and covered with non dairy whipped cream). He also does great dessert trays like brownies, cookies, frugolatta, mousse, rice krispie treats, truffles, and chocolate dipped strawberries.
With all this, one would think he costs an arm and a leg, when in fact he doesn’t cost more than your typical bakery would charge. But the cake you get is beyond what a typical bakery would be able to even fathom producing.
Seriously, I have NEVER served this cake without giving his phone # out to 90% of the people that try it. The rest are too much in a state of shock and awe to speak.
