Nutrition Zone

After posting a negative review, the owner of the store contacted me immediately to understand more about my experience. He has communicated and responded very quick and is trying to correct the issue I had. I think I’m going to give them another shot and will post an update after.

I came here twice to get a gift card for a friend. The first time, they told me the gift cards were locked in a safe and to come back the next day. The next day, I came back and it was the same story. Who doesn’t have gift cards available? And why would you tell someone to come back and not remedy the situation? And why are gift cards in a safe? Totally unacceptable.
FOLLOW UP: The owner sent me a message on Unilocal apologizing. I am going to give this place another shot. Will update my review then, but I appreciate the responsiveness.

Awesome service, prices, and supplements A+

Came in to find some probiotics and the guy was a bit short with me, made me feel dumb for asking. Guess they only cater to bodybuilders.

Jonathan Chenge and Michael Walsh were great help. They helped me by answering all the questions I needed. I recommend nutrition zone especially this one just because their employees know exactly what they are talking about.

Love this place. The staff is very helpful, eager to answer questions, knowledgeable, friendly. Great selection. Also, Vitality Tap is inside the store as well for fresh cold pressed juices and smoothies. Right across the street from Ralphs and 24hr Fitness.
Parking: Try street parking. Or, park at Horton Plaza, get validation, then walk over. Or for us downtown residents we can easily walk to First and G. Easy.

Great place big selection of nutritional supplements and wide selection of Questbars!

This place is amazing! Huge variety of supplements and a wide range of health food that I would absolutely get again. The staff is incredibly personable and know exactly what they’re talking about. I went with a group of friends and they were so helpful! Of the tons of health food and vitamin stores there are in San Diego, this one deserves a visit.
P. S. The ‘Stay Classy’ smoothie was DELICIOUS.

There’s a nutrition zone right around the area i live in, and the gym I go too. But I still put in the effort in making the drive all the way too this nutrition zone in downtown which is a 30 minute drive versus a 10 – 12 minute drive. And it’s well worth it! Everybody that I’ve talked too there is super friendly, don’t come off «cocky» or give you that «your just a noon» attitude like some other places doThey make you feel welcome which is awesome and just all around great vibes. I highly recommend everybody too visit this location there awesome! And plus, they sell LVTF gear there as well!

I can say honestly I haven’t been helped this well in awhile. Walking in after a workout with my lady, I was only tagging along so she could pick up some juice. We were greeted right away by a guy with an impressive build. I mention this because in a lot of places, the workers don’t always mirror what the company is promoting. In this case, the worker really exemplified what the Nutrition Shop was intended to do for customers. I figured I would go ahead and look into some protein powder for myself and he really knew his stuff about each powder. He showed me what to look for in powders that are beneficial and not beneficial. I have been to other Nutrition Shops before, and by far this shop was the most helpful. The employees are nice and well informed. There is also a little Juice/​Smoothie bar inside the shop! The only real downside I can say is that the products here are a little over priced and they do have a much smaller selection as opposed to say a Vitamin World. All in all, this is a great place with great accommodation and great quality products! Would recommend this place to any rich gym junkee!

Best spot in San Diego for supplements. great prices, great selection, and Ryan the manager is very helpful!

for all your work out needs.
it’s nice that they’ve got point of sales items you can grab. for when you’re not trying to buy a whole case of sh*t.
oh. and samples. they’re pretty good at that. i’ve tried a bunch of sh*t from there without actually having to buy the whole thing.
plus they’re quite accommodating. halfway through a bottle of preworkout. it started to crystalize. and they were more than eager to replace. or discount my next one.
and the staff. they’re good too. knowledgeable. friendly. and quick to tell me how buff and handsome i am that day.
what can i say. flattery gets you everywhere with me.
most importantly they have gel packs. i get gel packs from there by the packet. because ain’t nobody trying to go with three packets of chocolate outrage on a two hour run.
meaning not everything is there to make you buff. they also carry sh*t for endurance athletes too.

the only thing that sucks about this place. is not the place.

park at ralphs. pick up some kale. and then walk your ass over to nutrition zone.

One of the highlights of my vacation in San Diego was stumbling across this store. Ryan C. store manager is both friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and clearly explained products that would meet my needs. Upon my return home I paid a visit to my local NZ which confirmed to me Ryan’s expertise. I now plan to shop at NZ’s more and my previous chain store less.
Added bonus is the VitalityTap inside. A %100 organic juicing bar. I enjoyed a few recovery smoothies (Flexin) after CF WOD’s.
Ryan made me a customer of NZ and I’ll be patronizing this Nutrition Zone/​VitalityTap whenever I visit San Diego!

Received good recommendation from the person at the counter for work out supplements, and it seems to work quite effectively as he stated. Don’t forget to ask for your free container.

Best place to buy supplement!! Their products are cheaper than any other place that I have been to. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable and always find me a product based on what my preference are !

This place is quite the hidden gem across from Ralphs and Horton Plaza.
I have been here twice. The first time I came in was for their awesome juice/​smoothie bar. It is a little pricy, but their Acai bowls are pretty darn good. When I went in the second time I was really tempted to try a smoothie but I had to stop myself because I had my eyes on the prize… QUEST BARS!
During Labor Day they held (and are still holding since I am currently writing this during Labor Day weekend) the best sale ever! $ 1.50 Quest Bars, free shaker bottle with purchase (and with your Unilocal check in!) and a ton of great half off deals.
My only issue was that they didn’t have all of their flavors set out for the Quest bars because they were still unpacking shipment at 3pm on a Friday. However the guy was helpful and let me get the flavors. I just had to ask. Now if only they get rid of their 12 bar limit. I would seriously clean the place out haha which is probably why they have the limit in the first place.
I think I need to inquire about QBA (Quest bar anonymous)

A bit pricey.
Healthy place, I haven’t bought any product besides the drinks so I can’t comment on those.
But the drinks are good, I really like the variety. I also found it nifty that there was a chart to see the benefits each ingredient offered in your drink.
Good place to get your healthy juice from!

I stopped by VitalityTap with my boyfriend to get some fresh juice and I started talking to one of the guys who was working for the nutrition zone while i was waiting. I was very pleasantly surprised by his knowledge about fitness and nutrition. The price of the supplements are def cheaper than any other place that i have been to! I highly recommend it to my friends.

John the owner and Anthony the manager were very helpful!!! Anthony helped me out with a starter kit including protein, pre workout, multivitamin, as well as glutamine. They were very knowledgable on helping me find the best product. I will definitely be coming here more often!!!
