Their mantra is ‘Become More’ and that pretty much says it all. They could expand it to say ‘Become more through 45 minutes per day’ but that probably sounds too much like 7 Minute Abs. It’d be the truth though. P360(as the locals called it) moved their Mission Beach location into the heart of PB and it’s an awesome improvement. They STILL have a location in Crown Point(tons of reviews on that one’s Unilocal page), but this is a different location. Same awesomeness though. I’ve never considered myself a gym guy and at first, the idea of ‘classes’ turned me off, but I’ve been a member of p360 for 3+ years now and fully back it. When I took my health a tad bit more seriously(laid off the booze just a bit, focused more on diet and training), I shed a pretty substantial amount of body fat while improving both my strength and endurance for other activities(volleyball, snowboarding, skateboarding). Pros: — Motivating without demotivating class-based fitness. — Focus on form and instruction. Never done a split jerk or hang clean? Me neither. They’ll show you how, safely. — Again, focus on form. Doing it right. Not who can do the most whatever lift you saw on a Facebook video. There’s guys that can lift an incredible amount, but it’s part of their progression, not some YouTube competition. — Members run the full range of the PB area in age and size. College athletes, dudes over 40 with kids, 20 and 30 somethings who are fine specimens of humanity and those that maybe have packed on a few too many lbs. over the years for their liking. People in all shapes and sizes go, but those that stick with it tend to decrease in size quite a bit. — Diversity of workout. Classes range from their Daily Challenges(what I’d call circuit based training, usually with some decently heavy lifting), Muscle(exactly what it sounds like), Kettlebells(kettlebell-only classes) and Shred(it’s more than bootcamp, but that’d be an easy way to describe it if you’ve never been). There’s also some yoga in the mix on certain days and classes focused specifically on mobility/form if you’re like me and have issues with that stuff(I’m really stiff). — They cap overall membership and for classes too, so you won’t have to worry about it being overly crowded. — Surprisingly easy parking for the location in the heart of PB(has a lot to do with it being right by the school. But it’s a gym… if you live in town, jog there and get warmed up! — Tons of helpful advice via their blog and newsletter on nutrition. Cons: — I dropped a full size in jeans and I don’t think the baggy look is coming back any time soon. Denim is ‘effing expensive. — You’ll see people from the gym out around town, but not in their gym clothes. This will cause you to stare at them from across the bar wondering how you know them. People look very different when they’re not covered in sweat. — You need to go to see results. It’s not a magic pill. — They’re not your parents. They’re not going to tell you not to drink beers or eat cake for breakfast. They won’t wag their finger at you for terrible life choices. I’ve even seen the coaches out at bars now and again, so I’m certain they don’t live purely on salads and gluten-free kangaroo meat burgers.
