My husband and I really enjoyed this place. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with big smiles by all in the kitchen(fully visible kitchen). We picked our own table and our drink orders were taken immediately. We both opted for horchatas and they were brought to us along with complementary chips and salsas. The tortilla chips were too thin for my taste but my husband liked them. The horchatas were thick with spices but I just let it all settle to the bottom and it was pretty good. I already knew from the get go that I wanted pozole as this is a pozoleria and I always order the specialty of the restaurant. There are several types of pozoles to choose from and as red pozole is the standard around the holidays I chose the opposite. I had the green pozole with pork and my husband had red with pork. The lady who took our order asked if we wanted ‘surtido’ and I had no clue what she was talking about. She explained that ‘surtido’ includes meat on the bone and pata. I prefer just meat and hominy so that is what I chose. We also ordered molletes which is bolillo bread cut in half with beans spread on top and cheese melted over them, good stuff. The pozole came out before the molletes and still hadn’t come out halfway through our meal. A gentleman asked if everything was fine and we reminded him of the molletes. It appeared they forgot about them but they whipped them right up and brought them out. My pozole was so delicious! My husband’s was tasty but it was not as good as the green pozole. He agreed that the green was far superior. The lady who took our order asked if all was good and we expressed our enjoyment of the green pozole. She informed us that the broth is made of various green veggies such as spinach and squash which I found interesting because I assumed it was more of a tomatillo salsa verde broth. Every one was friendly and attentive and the food was homestyle, comforting and delicious.

FORGETTHISPLACE! We didn’t even get a chance to eat, as soon as my father in law walked in the guy who was in the front told him, he wasn’t suppose to use the door he went threw. Then my father in law realized they only took cash so while my husband went to use the bathroom, my f.i.l went to use a atm. So I walked in there last and had this extremely rude guy telling me in Spanish about the bathroom not being public and I explained to him I was waiting for my husband, to come out so we could order, my husband came out and said what happen? I said we are NOT eating here and my husband told the man, you messed up! We were going to eat but you made a big deal over the toilet! So again I was not able to try the food, so I am not able to rate that but as far as that place being polite psh your better off going to Taco Bell!

I was craving some Mexican food and we decided to come here for an early dinner. My husband had a coupon for buy one get one free on his cell phone application. Finding this place was easy as it is right off the 5 south freeway before the last exit that goes in Mexico. As we pull up, there is a small parking lot next to it. A few things to know before coming here; this restaurant only takes CASH and there are no public restrooms. Kind of a bummer for both. We seat ourselves in the small dining area. A kind gentleman comes up to us and asks us «what would you like to drink?» I say water, so he gives us two bottled waters which was about $ 1.25. I order the garlic fish that comes with rice, beans, a small salad and a choice of corn or flour tortillas. I go with the flour. We probably waited 15 minutes before our food came out. The fish was so flavorful. It was sitting on butter and on top was slices of garlic and pieces of cilantro. The fish was tilapia because I definitely know the texture and flavor of it. The rice was warm and flavorful and the beans had flavor to it. All of the food came out hot. Everything was so good. Prior to our meals, we were given chips and salsa. The green salsa verde was so good. Hubby liked the red hot sauce. Chips were a little stale but we ate it anyway. My dish was delicious and was made fresh. The guy serving us was nice! Excellent service. He kept checking up on us making sure we were okay. I definitely enjoyed my meal. Highly recommend this place if you are near the Mexico border on the 5 south.

We had not been to see Alicia and Jorge for a few months, so it was really nice to see them again today. We ordered a Carnitas Burrito, two Fish Tacos and a large Fish Ceviche. With Mexican Coke it came to $ 15. The food was fresh and delicious. I must say I am dismayed by the recent undeserved one star reviews. I have been there at least ten times and currently have seven check-ins. Not once did we have bad food, old food or rude service. Please ignore the one star reviews, they are not correct.

I found this place on Urbanspoon [because I didn’t have Unilocal handy] and went there because of the 5 star rating. Later discovered it was 5 starts out of 1 review. Anyway, the place is clean and the service is good enough. The menu is simple and concise. But that’s about where it ends. I asked for a few chips to try the salsas and they explained they only had tostada [tortilla] shells, which was fine, no problem. Sadly the salsas were a let down, the green and red salsas in the squirt bottles tasted basically the same, which is to say they were unfortunately almost tasteless. I specifically asked for the hot salsa that there not normally to serve to customers and it looked like red pepper flakes in olive oil. This was truly sad. I ordered a beef taco and a chicken burrito. Both were disappointing, yet filling. The beef in the taco was tough and tasted like it was cooked in boiling water. It did have a little guacamole sauce type stuff on it, but still didn’t make up for the boiled beef texture and bland taste. The chicken was almost the same, except there was some sort of semi-thickened sauce on the chicken in the burrito that at least gave it some flavor. The chicken appeared cooked through and wasn’t terribly dry, but then again it seemed like it was sitting in a pot of stew almost. The meat temperatures could have been warmer, and I was a little concerned. But it’s been a few hours and I feel fine so I think we’re good there. But all in all it was a disappointment. Truly Don Felix is literally something like a block away. Head down there and do it right the first time. Side note: If you do go here and get the salsas in the squirt bottles, unscrew the tops and pour it out. As the ends are not cut off wide enough to allow them to pass the small chunks in the salsa. And they will clog up and make a terrible mess all over the table and your clothes. Also while I was eating one of the ladies started moping the floor, which is good, a clean restaurant is a happy restaurant. But there was so much bleach in the mop water that it was burning my eyes and nose. Not the best thing to do during a meal.

Cleaner than your average border place. Friendly service and full of repeat customers(who were happy to give recommendations). Not your average taco shop menu, which is refreshing. I ordered menudo and my partner ordered the green, pork pozole. I was pretty happy but the pozole had some pretty unidentifiable pork pieces which put my patner off completely. Both dishes were good but not remarkable. I’d do this place again. Good, but not exceptional.
