We ordered take out for dinner this evening and boy was it a waste of money! My husband had yellow curry and I had red curry. Both were flavorless and gross! We also had an order of wings, I think they’re called golden wings or something like that… Man they were gross, so bland! I was craving thai tea so I also had that but it was also a waste. I had to pour it out! The thai tea didn’t even have the thai tea flavor, it was super creamy! If you know authentic thai food, I don’t recommend this place. My poor husband had to go out and get something else to eat since we ended up throwing everything away!

Charming Thai restaurant in a small strip mall on near Point Loma. My fiancé and I were downtown last Sunday and had a sudden hankering for Thai food. She checked Unilocal on her phone and we found this delightful vegan-friendly place. Menu was full of interesting dishes. One, the avacado curry, I tried and was very pleased with that. Portions were of average size and well-spiced. Fiancé said the drunken noodles were the best she had ever experienced in San Diego. Parking was fine but the lot is pretty small and could be hard to park during dinner hours. The décor is very pleasing and the service was excellent. Water was brought to the table without asking(always a good idea when you eat Thai food).

Sunday June 12th2016 I was on my way to get Chinese food in point Loma, while I was driving to my desired location I noticed the huge pure thai sign from the road and my urge for Chinese food died and I decided to go the pure thai route. I walked in and was greeted right away from all of the staff. They asked me if I was dining in or out. At first I was going to dine in but ended up taking my order to go. I loved the atmosphere inside of pure thai, if you don’t want to dine at a table, or booth, they have a nice bar you can sit at and watch television, sports, whatever. I ended up ordering the Pad See-IW noodles with chicken and my spicy level #4. The order was prepared fairly quickly, but I was the only customer in at the time. I like the fact that when it was time to pay. The guy who brought my check did not Hover over me he dropped the check off and gave me time and space until I was ready. Small things go a long way in my books. When I opened my meal it looked so scrumptious. The broccoli was super fresh and tasted even better with all the flavors soaked into it. The spicy level was perfect the noodles tasted amazing. I gave my girlfriend a bite and she thought it amazing I will definitely be trying more things off of this menu. Thumbs up pure thai!!! I will be posting photos of the entire menu and my order when I opened it up. Enjoy Unilocalers!!!

Really like this place. Food has always been excellent, nice and spicy! Usually get spicy noodles and yellow curry and some appetizers. Delivery is always fast too. Friendly service. It’s become our new go to Thai place!

Picked up tom ka, yellow curry and pad thai as takeout since its only a block away. Food was awful. Soup was completely watered down and everything was flavorless. Can’t believe I spent $ 30 on this. Stay away if you know what good thai food is. This is not a reflection on the service solely the food.

I would have given 5 stars had my food not been cold upon arrival. However, the server immediately took care of it, apologized, and the food was fantastic! I’m weird about my chicken-I don’t like any fat, bones, or weirdness in my meat, and this was wonderful! I enjoyed the pastry like quality of the curry puffs, and the fantastic chicken Penang. Yummmm!

Just had dinner here with my little family. Our first time. We sat and ordered right away. I ordered the chicken Thai fried rice and the pork pad see iw… all not spicy because I was sharing it with my son. My husband ordered the mango salmon with rice noodles. What I Love about this place is the options of menu. We can have it meatless, with tofu, or with meat selections such as pork, chicken, etc. It’s great for those who don’t eat pork or seafood or are vegetarians. Our food came quite quickly and freshly hot. You can tell everything was made when ordered. Big portions! Each plate can feed about 2 people. The rice was very flavorful and not too greasy like other fried rice we have had. The pad see iw was cooked very well also. Nothing was overcooked and a good amount of flavor too. I’m Asian and have made lots of fried rice and pad see iw in my youth. This place was very good, flavor wise. You won’t be disappointed. The mango salmon was Amazing! It comes on a bed of spinach with the dressing underneath everything. It’s like a noodle salad… an Asian noodle salad since we had it with noodles. The dressing was sweet, fishy, sour and tangy. It could be spicy but we were sharing it with my son. Mix the noodles in the dressing with spinach and Thai basil. Then eat with the nicely pan-fried salmon. PERFECT! It satisfied my Thai craving. The location is tucked in a small shopping center. Parking is limited too. It wasn’t busy for dining in but it sure was busy for deliveries and pick up. Many customers prefer to pick up orders instead I guess. There are tables and booths inside. It’s a nice clean place. DEFINITELYRECOMMEND to try.

This was my go-to place for delivery the first year they opened, but now I’m done. The last few times I’ve ordered it’s been well over an hour and the food is cold. Most recently, we waited over 1.5 hours and got the wrong food. We called and the manager offered us 2 free entrees and wrote our name down. When we called to order today, the person who answered the phone said our name was written down, but for 2 free drinks. Nope, doesn’t make up for the crappy delivery service that is their new norm. Good food, but don’t bother ordering delivery if you want it soon and/or hot.

There is not a lot of parking. We drove around a few times before finding a spot. Walked in and were greeted promptly. We ordered the kids food and an appetizer and they were out really quick. The waitress was very friendly, she brought us kid friendly plates for a boy/girl ahead of time. She also brought the kids colors /coloring paper and etch and sketch pads for each of them. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. She checked on our drinks and picked up plates promptly. First time here, I’ll be back.

The food was great! We ordered Satay, Golden Wings, Pad See –Iw and brown rice. Once we ordered, everything came out fast and it was delicious. As far as taking our order and getting the check was a little slow, but I’m assuming it’s because of when we came in, around dinner time. I would def go here again and just prepare for a little wait.

I went with some friends to Pure Thai this week. They had been before and really enjoyed it. The location is not great(parking was pretty bad), but we managed. The atmosphere inside is very quiet, and perfect for good conversation with friends. They have a full-service bar, good beers on tap, and very reasonable drink prices. Service was prompt, and every member of the staff seemed genuine and helpful. Ok, now to the part that matters most: the delicious food! I ordered the Panang Curry, spice level 10. Some Thai places I’ve been to apparently don’t know what a true Level 10 is, but this was not the case at Pure Thai. Their level 10 curry is not for the faint of heart! Others in our party had around a Level 4 – 5, which seems pretty tolerable for those low-to-medium spicy eaters. My curry was delicious! It was filled with an orange sauce, carrots, green beans and seasoned beef. My son had the chicken satay as his meal, and he ate the entire thing in a heartbeat(typically a very picky eater). I also had a taste of the Avocado Curry. This was definitely a unique dish that I hadn’t seen before, and am fairly certain that I will be ordering it next time. Great experience for a first time at Pure Thai. Good service, great food and a nice, quiet place to go with friends and family. Btw, it’s right next to a donut place. As soon as you walk out, you smell freshly-made donuts. Word to the wise, save some room!

Always excellent service, always delicious food. They have decent lunch specials, I think 6 dollars and some cents, you get rice soup choice of entrée, maybe a salad(I don’t quite remember). All I know is, for the price you get a decent amount of food. All the dishes I’ve tried have never disappointed. Tastes fresh.

Really nice people here. Not too busy and packed on a Friday night and very welcoming staff. Really friendly with kids, they brought out a plastic cup for my one year old daughter and a sectioned kids plate she can eat off easily. Good food as well and at great prices. Would recommend to anyone near the area for great Thai food! Also have beers on tap and a counter to eat and watch the game on the tv.

So glad we tried Pure Thai! Restaurant is clean, quiet, easy to get too and the lunch specials are great! Ever since our favorite place changed chefs/owners a few years ago we’ve been trying to find a good alternative. There is another great thai place but it’s very noisy and the prices are high. Pure Thai had a great spicy noodle lunch special. And I had the spicy bean dish with chicken. My #8 was the perfect amount of heat. Hubby’s ‘0’ was mild but flavorful. Looking forward to going back soon!!!

This place is the perfect neighborhood Thai place! The food has always been so yummy! My family and I have never been disappointed! Anytime that I have ordered incorrectly they have always been so kind and friendly about my mistake! You can’t pay for that kind of amazing service! I can not say enough positives about Pure Thai except you should definitely give them a try! Hmmm… I think I will order from them now!

I recently used the ‘order online’ function via Unilocal for Pure Thai. I was sick, and in no mood to drive anywhere for lunch(nor did I have any food to cook). So at 11a when the resturant opened I ordered online and by 11:30a I was eating my food in my home. The pad thai and fried spring rolls were great(and decent portions). I was very impressed with the promptness of the order, and enjoyed the food. Only issue was that my boba in my Thai tea were very hard and I could not even eat them, bummer. Will be ordering to go(via online) from here again!

I was 2 hours past starving when I showed up here and was excited by all the vegetarian options. We settled on curry puffs, salad, and potstickers for appetizers. The curry puffs were exciting just to touch, their flakey goodness was the hit of the meal. The dipping sauces were a little bland as was the salad dressing. It wasn’t a spice thing — it was a flavor thing. I’ve been addicted to pineapple fried rice for about a year and Pure Thia pineapple fried rice doesn’t have cashews which takes the fun out of eating it. The water was always full the staff pleasant I just wanted more flavor and more sauce. If I’m in the area I’ll go back but it’s not a destination place for me.

I’d give this place a solid 3.5 stars, but it just didn’t feel like 4 star worthy. I came here with my Thai Thursday crew. The food was good, but nothing stuck out as memorable. I tried spicy noodles, pad thai and a rice dish. Spice level was normal –7 was spicy but not too spicy. The décor was nice and the service was good. They have a small parking lot, which is great! Overall, it was good but I wasn’t overly impressed.

I eat here probably once a month. The food here is delicious. They have some great stuff going on in the kitchen. Everything I order tastes delicious. These guys are very serious about adding spice to their food. If you don’t want it to be spicy I recommend going with a 0 or a 1 strength on a 10 point scale. I like to eat my food kind of spicy but I have to keep it at a 5 in this place. A 5 is way spicier than any hot salsa or sauce at a regular grocery store. I can only think that there are very few people who are able to handle the 10. I recommend eating in. The portions in the restaurant are way bigger than the delivery portions for most of the food that we have ordered.

I ordered thru Grub Hub and they delivered 15 minutes earlier than estimated… Green Curry was great, Chicken Larb was outstanding, and the Pad See Ew dish was to die for and not at all dry! I will definitely keep this on my favorite Thai List!

Tom Kha soup is delicious, with huge chunks of veggies and an awesome coconut broth. The green curry is also a solid choice. Spring rolls are fresh and delicious, come with a yummy peanut dipping sauce. Spice rating seems a little low(usually order a 5/10, could’ve gone hotter). The only thing I was disappointed in was the Pad See Ew. The flavor was just off, noodles barely had any veggies, and were pretty dry. That made me sad. Great local spot, awesome for takeout. Has a bar, so might belly up for a Sapporo on draft while I wait next time.

best Thai in OB. This place always has great quality food. I love Thai food and this place does as great job. I specifically enjoy the panang curry, pad see ew, and Tom ka soup. They also take phone orders if you are on a rush. Beer loves: They have beer on tap: stone ipa, sculpting, Sapporo, fat tire, pale ale, blue moon and Coors light.

I stopped by for lunch yesterday when I was studying at the library across the street. Since then I have been back two more times. That’s a total of 3 times in 2 days! They have some of the best fresh spring rolls and peanut sauce. I love fresh spring rolls and I’m always looking for places that serve them! We also tried the pad thai, cucumber salad, satay, and chicken garden vegetables. Everything has been delicious and great prices. They even deliver which is a big plus for us since there aren’t too many places that deliver by us besides pizza. Definitely a new go to for fresh thai!

Wee little restaurant in the middle of a random shopping center in Pt. Loma-ish/OB area. I didn’t realize when I got here, but I’ve actually ordered takeout form this place a bunch of times(talk about absent minded eh?) So, I suppose I can talk about both my dine in experience and my take out experience. There’s a reason why I’ve ordered a «bunch of times» from here; it’s delicious, fast and the fact that you can place your order through their Unilocal profile makes it so convenient(…a little too convenient) It doesn’t take long for the delivery guy/girl to come knocking at my door. Overall, good times. When I actually came here and sat down, it was a «meeeh» experience. The food was still good, and came out fast. The service however, was the part that was«meeeeh» about the dining experience. It felt rushed even though the restaurant was empty. Nothing terrible though, but from now on I’ll stick to delivery.

Love this place! We have ordered almost everything and have never been disappointed. Favorites: — avocado curry — panang curry — eggplant entrée — roti — Rama Thai — hor mok(it is served in a coconut!) Truthfully, it’s not the best Pad Thai I have ever had(I prefer more peanutty taste), but it is definitely good and can satisfy a craving if you have one! I also love spicy foods so the spice scale is accurate. We’ll be back(regularly!)
