This place was nothing special. We disn’t order food, but by the looks of other people’s food, it looked like typical high calorie high fat food. The brewery beer selections were nothing special amd they were out of the daily dark beer selection.

I went there quite a few years back but the food, drink & service were excellent so I’m so bumbed to find out it is closed down now! What could’ve happened? I was all ready to go down there n googled the menu just to find this disappointing piece of info! :(

(Pssst. Hey Unilocal Admins. Half star ratings would go a looooonnnnnggggg way. I concede the programming of the algorithm for overall ratings may get a little convoluted, but I think it’d be fantastic) Dropped in here for lunch the other day with some out of town relatives. I’d been here, once, years ago for a quick beer but had never tried the food. The beer is still good stuff. I had their Rocktoberfest specialty brew which was nice and hearty without too much of a harsh aftertaste. The food was pretty good, too. I enjoyed my burger and those that had the Oktoberfest fare dug them as well. My only knocks: — while a polite girl, our waitress would disappear for what seemed like an eternity. I know it wasn’t particularly busy, but slightly more frequent stops by the table would have been preferred — My wife ordered the bacon mac n cheese. It was pretty tasty, especially the chunks of chicken in there as well, but greasy as all get out. I’m not sure if it was from the cheese or the bacon that wasn’t dried before being cut and included or both. Rather unappealing for a pasta dish I’ll keep this on the list of spots to revisit in the future, slightly higher than most.

So, my new favorite brewery? Came in for happy hour Sunday night just cause I haven’t tried something new in a while and I was itching for a reason to write a new Unilocal review. There weren’t many people here, at all. Especially for Labor Day Weekend. Fawn was our server and she was great! I always love when I meet people who share my love of siracha. She was very attentive and checked in on us frequently, asking if we needed anything. I got the 6 beer taster for 6 dollars and it was great! my favorite being the oatmeal stout, so delicious. And of course, its all brewed on site! If you look on the back wall it will even tell you when the beer went from cask to tap, which is also awesome. My friend got the mojito, which was equally tasty!(especially a cocktail from a brewery). But wait, THEFOOD. THEFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Okay, so we ordered the happy hour appetizers(everything was 5 – 6 dollars). I got the jalepeno spinach dip that came with chips and practically inhaled it, although I do wish there was more spinach. Thanks to fawn, I topped it off with siracha, yum! My friend got the steak tacos, which she also inhaled. haha But, the real kicker was the in-house pretzel jalepeno sticks with cheese dip. THISTHINGSARELIFECHANGING. I love carbs and Im a major bread person and these things are so fresh and tasty! I’ll be coming back JUST for these. Honestly, they are that good. No seriously. You need to try them. Cant wait for my next encounter here!

Delicious! We went here for dinner this past weekend(during Comic Con) and it was great! I love that they take reservations, which is pretty rare for such a casual place, but it makes it a lot easier to plan your time appropriately and go. The beer was great. I had their wheat beer, don’t remember what it was called exactly, but I really enjoyed it. For an appetizer we had the guacamole and chips. They were awesome! I definitely recommend that you give those a try. For my meal I had the chicken caesar salad with a side of mac and cheese. Both were excellent — you would be doing well getting either! My husband had a burger and he really enjoyed it as well. He doesn’t remember which one exactly. Overall — great place!

Katrina is the Sh*t. We sat at the bar, she let us try different beers, and gave great suggestions. I had the Pork taco appetizer SOGOOD. My friend had the Veggie Burger. Let me just say I am not a vegetarian but I will most likely be ordering that next time I go.

I usually don’t go down to San Diego, but I came here for a friends graduation celebration. It was awesome! The beer is good, I had a few of the different house beers. I forgot what they were called but it was a white ale, and the amber one. Both were delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lively but not too crowded or cramped. I’ll be back, if I’m ever in San Diego again.

I never really thought about Rock Bottom, but I’m definitely going to think of it next time I’m downtown. Came in here for happy hour before a wedding reception and was nothing but pleased. Bar staff(manager with long-ish hair and a woman, wish I had saved my receipt) were great. Prices for happy hour were fair and whatever the dip is that comes with the pretzels, looks like ceviche & tastes like cheese, is amazing!

The first time I visited a Rock Bottom, I was outside of Chicago and I had a great time. Great food, good beer, good service, great company. So I was really excited to see there was one in SD the last time I was out there visiting a friend. The food was good and reasonably priced — at least what we ordered — and the beer was still pretty darn good. The service was okay. The restaurant wasn’t jam packed with people, so I felt as if the service could have been a little better, but we weren’t in any sort of rush, so it wasn’t the end of the world. It’s just nice to have your drink topped off or to get the bill when you want it instead of having to wait 15 – 20 minutes.

Our party made reservations for 645p for patio seating. It wasn’t busy so we were immediately seated. These are regular(low) tables and not bar tables/stools. Hard for people watching! There are heaters outside so you can request them on/off if need be. We all ordered various items. This is what I opted for. –Sampled the pretzel with jalapeño cheese. I don’t care for jalapeño, but this appy was pretty decent(if you’re in the mood for an appy). It gets really filling, so be forewarned. There are 2 big pretzels that come with the appy and could share nicely with at least 6 people. –Sampler($ 6): This is a great deal. You get 6 samplers. You can actually customize it. We don’t care for dark beers, so we opted for anything but dark. –Steak and Fries($ 16): I ordered med rare, and it really looked rare. Comes all sliced up with a side of veggies and thin cut fries. Steak was OK — typical. It was actually better as leftovers. The fries were good, esp well done. What brought down my review is the lack in service. Although our server was nice, the wait time was ridiculous. Either the patio was staffed inappropriately or the server was just overwhelmed. Our server kept bypassing us. Towards the end, I had to ask several times for a small to-go box for my steak. Then she overcharged one of the bills. When we notified her of the mistake, «OK» she said and walked off. A few mins later, she came back questioning the bill again. REALLY?! The entire process of trying to get our bills and resolving our bills took a good 30 mins. And yes, it did because we had to pay extra for our Horton Plaza parking. 2 – 3 blocks from Horton Plaza(comp parking for 3 hours). This restaurant/bar is huge. There is an outdoor patio, bar and upstairs area. Bathrooms are located upstairs.

We landed in San Diego, went to the hotel, and promptly started wandering around the Gaslamp district. I had read about this place in my pre-travel search for beer, so when we happened upon it, we had to go in. We ended up staying for a drink and an appetizer each. I had a pint, and tastes of three other beers: Angry Dragon Imperial IPA, Belgian White Ale, Sunset Stout, and Winter Wheat. They were all very pleasant beers, and drinkable. But nothing was particularly remarkable. The same went for the cocktails and the appetizers. The margarita was large, though. And the mac and cheese was tasty after our transcontinental flight. Service was spotty. The bartender was very nice and funny, and chatted us up, tried to convince us to come back at some point. But it took a very long time for our food to come in with only a handful of people. A table of two ordered full on meals after we ordered our appetizers, and they received their entrees before our food came. I suspect our order wasn’t punched into the system right away, so maybe eating at the bar isn’t the best idea.

Rock Bottom SD: Downtown Wednesday August 17, 2011 Four Stars It’s amazing how un-crowded downtown is on a Wednesday Night. It turns out that Rock Bottom is a great choice when you have hungry kids and adults. There were a surprising number of little children at this brewery. The kids menu was excellent. They had this make your meal where the kid gets some raw pizza dough to put on the tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. First, it keeps the kid busy for like 15 minutes. Second, it only took a couple of minutes for the pizza to cook. Our Waitress was incredibly nice and gave the kid an extra side of fries while he waited for his pizza to cook. As for me, I tried their angry dragon double Imperial IPA, which was pretty decent. I had the Brewer’s Cobb Salad. Quarter of an Avocado, Huge Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Tons of Bacon, Tomatoes, Hardboiled Eggs, and some roasted chicken which was half shredded and half cut in a bad way. Overall Rock Bottom provided a pretty good meal for everyone.
