A fun experience and a great dinner! Gluten Free friendly, I brought my own gluten free soy sauce and they were very attentive and kind making sure I had everything to make my food delicious.

This is an experience and one of the funnest places to eat! Order shabu shabu with prime rib, it won’t disappoint. Don’t forget to order it with spicy miso. The service is great and I always leave feeling completely satisfied! Here’s how it works. Every seat has a little grill with a pot of water(yes one per person) you will choose how you want your broth and then your protein there’s lots of choices but I would go with the prime rib if it’s your first time. They give you a basket full of veggies and once your pot is boiling off you go! Start cooking your veggies and meat at your own pace! You also get as much rice as you would like. It’s super casual but they’ve improved the décor in the last year so you can fancy it up if you’re on a date. Expect to pay around $ 20-$ 25 per person but it’s totally worth it I always leave with enough leftovers for another meal!

Omg love this place! I had been pretty resistant to going because I’m not into these fondue type food but I was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the Spicy Miso with prime beef and it was delicious! What a treat!

Decided to come to this place because the lady was craving some shabu. Overall the place is very nice and clean. The servers are also nice and attentive. It was our first time here and they were nice enough to show us the menu. I ordered the Sukiyaki broth and my gf ordered the spicy miso. Sukiyaki wasn’t that great in my opinion. If you order I recommend the Spicy Miso. The meat portions are small. They should have an all you can eat option. Both beef and prime rib are good. Will come back if ever in the area. Parking sucks though…

I’ve been here close to 20 times because this is, by far, the best Shabu Shabu place I’ve ever been to. Neither LA nor Seattle can compete with this place that has the best tasting ponzu and best meat selection. They remodelled the place a little while ago and now it looks as trendy and appealing as any upscale Japanese restaurant, but this one is close to home. The only problem is the TERRIBLE parking lot. Seriously, come around when they first open or you are not getting a spot anywhere near.

The service was fast. I ordered the japanese style soup base and it was too salty for me. I had to ask for hot water to add into my soup to make it less salty. Because of the soup base, i couldn’t really enjoy the food. Probably won’t return. Otherwise, i have to order just regular soup base(just hot water) Updated: Warning! I threw up the next morning and was sick for a day. I don’t think the seafood I ordered was fresh enough.

Came right at 5pm(that’s when they open up for dinner). Was recommended the spicy miso soup base for the shabu pot I was ordering. Very respectful waiter. Will complete my review after my dinner lol

Cool place to come on a date or hang out with a couple of friends. Drove down from Vista. Honestly not the extraordinary but not horrible shabu. Just average. I love Japanese fusion but was not worth the 45 min drive thru traffic. My friend and I each got regular order of beef and an additional order of udon. Comes with rice and veggies. It all came out to about $ 20 each including tip. Average shabu. Average price. Average servers. Nothing too great but good for a cold day.

This place is amazing but can be really busy. They usually only have two people working which makes it hard to get their attention when you are sitting at the only two tables in the restaurant. It’s great because once you sit down you can cook your own food at your own pace. They do give you rice if you ask for it. Though it can be difficult to get their attention because this place is so popular. Come in and enjoy the food.

Took my bf here for his first time. We’re both soup type of people so this was a good spot for us. I ordered the seafood combo & he got the salmon combo. I was disappointed in the amount of seafood I got. I think I should have gotten more for what I paid. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but I could have went to Little Sheep & gotten more food. The waiters had attitude. They told me I couldn’t get prime rib w/seafood then I asked someone else and they said I could get prime rib on the side which was extra. I didn’t mind that but I asked them for extra Enoki mushroom & they charged me $ 3 when you could seriously get it at the market for .99 cent. I won’t be coming here alot. Maybe just a once in awhile thing.

Konnichiwa, amiguitos! My first visit: Shabu Shabu House(^p^) Love Shabu Shabu(Japanese dish)!!! I came to Shabu Shabu House in Kearny Mesa, San Diego, California for dinner. I believe that the resultant is not owned by Japanese. When I went there around 7:30 pm on Saturday without a reservation, there were a few groups, but the restaurant was not busy. Served with assorted vegetable, tofu, udon noodle and rice. Step One: Traditional Water(Goma and Ponzu sauce for dipping) Step Two: Salmon(Small, 6 pcs) Love Shabu Shabu!!! Yummy!!!(^p^) I think the resultant is alright. I may go back there sometime!!! \(^-^)/ I am very picky about Japanese food. I always prefer to go to Japanese restaurants which are owned by Japanese make real Japanese tastes, NOTTOO Americanized Japanese food. This place is one of them! v(^-^)v DINNER: Food: 3.0 Stars(1=very bad taste, 5=very yummy taste) Service: 3.5 Stars(1=very bad service, 5=very great service) Price: 3.0 Stars(1=very cheap, 5=very expensive) Shabu Shabu House Menu in English:

Alright I come here at least 2 times a month because it is so damn good. I live downtown andI really wish they opened a location down in the Gaslamp because I think it would be trendy and successful. Anyway– Shabu Shabu is known everywhere and I feel like its just becoming popular. As far as location goes, parking kind of sucks but theres off street parking and its not too bad. I always get the Spicy Miso with steak and rice!!! Its so filling!!! The gyozas for apps is a must too. Def recommend!!! So fun with a bunch of people and there is Boba next door for dessert :)

Came and got seated right away. Place looks empty of guests. Décor is clean and nice. Friendly and fast service. Food was average and small portion. Price is slightly higher than other shabu places. Beef quality was average. Beer priced was half off during summer. Parking is limited in this plaza so another option is street parking.

Love this place. I’ve been here a few times now and each time has reinforced why I like this place much. The service is always super friendly and the food is really tasty. Pretty much all you have to do is pick your bra off and pick your and meat. You get a basket with veggies and noodles in it that you can cook to your liking well you enjoy your meat and dipping sauces over a bowl of rice. I almost never am able to finish my soup so don’t plan on leaving hungry. I’m surprised at this place isn’t more busy even on a weekend evening. The parking situation can be difficult sometimes as spots are scarce in this area but it’s well worth a walk down the block to get some delicious food. It’s a great date spot to switch things up and keep it fresh. The prices are fair had a small beef plate and a beer my total was $ 18.95. If you like spicy ask about the spicy drops you can add to your dipping sauces or your broth, I do both! You might want to check with the server on how spicy the drops are on that particular day as it may vary. The seating arrangement is bar style with only two tables but we had six people in our party I wearable to fit everyone at the bar. Like I mentioned before somehow this place never seems to be overcrowded like many of the other restaurants in the area. Typically get the beef plate or the Lamb plate if you’re super hungry you can eat a large but typically small and regular will do the job for one person. Maybe get a large if you’re planning to share.

Gave the place a second try, and I had a much better experience. Food once again was pretty delicious, it arrived pretty quickly, and the prices were just about right. Got seated at the tabletop/highchair area this time(versus a table), and I guess it’s just how the service is, where it’s mainly just bringing your food and perhaps a refill on water(if you catch them and ask for it). Overall, would now come back again if craving some shabu shabu.

Came here on a cold day for lunch because my coworkers tried this place and really liked it. Being in Convoy, the parking was terrible so we parked on the side. I ordered the Sukiyaki broth with regular lamb. and it was quite excellent. Quite sweet honestly but smelled really great. All orders come with a basket of vegies and udon noodles. For your dipping sauce, you get one egg that you mix green onions and garlic. When you dip your meat in it, it is supposed to make it taste sweeter. I’m not sure if it was placebo but it was really good. Overall it was a great lunch on a cold day. My only issue is that they don’t really have lunch prices for this place. My meal was starting at $ 15 and that is a tad pricey… Still! Every once in a while. this is a pretty solid place for when the weather is a tad chilly :)

Great service and very clean. This place is fine. not as good as Mr. Dumpling by far, but fine. The veggie and sauce selection was sparse, but I liked the broths(albeit a bit salty). I wanted tons of mushrooms and different veggies, but they only had two types of mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, and spinach. The meat was fine — we had chicken and the better beef. The charging for every little tidbit was a tad much — refills are $ 2, spicy broth is $ 2, etc, etc… We both had the large portions and it was $ 54 for the two of us before tip. A bit spendy. We’re still desperately seeking an AYCE replacement for Mr. Dumpling. If you know of one, message me!

It’s funny cause I worked at this place 4 years ago or something, and have never ate here. They’ve been in business ever since, and although they always look slow, they’re still in business and decided to give them a shot. They pots, grills, and counter tops have not changed and seem a bit aged. They’re the same ones that were in use years ago, but if you can’t get passed the aged décor, chipped plating, etc… It’s actually pretty good and I think the only shabu option I’m aware of in San Diego. Both the regular shabu is great, I got the spicy miso base. Then my girlfriend got the sukiyaki which has always been my favorite. We both got the regular beef and loved. My favorite part of the veggies they include are the mushrooms, and there is unlimited rice refills! Both brown and white, and I love rice so much lol. Dinner for 2 for under $ 40, very satisfied and will be back. Average service… so I’d actually give them 3.5, but I’ll round up cause I love shabu

Was between a two star and a three star. It’s always a pain to find parking in that busy parking lot, but we definitely lucked out and got a parking right in the front this time. Good service, the waitresses are super fast and attentive. We got a regular pork shabu and a large lamb shabu. The portion is okay, but I could imagine if I came on a hungry day, a regular definitely wouldn’t be enough! You can two different choice of broths — clear and spicy miso. I chose to stick with the traditional clear broth. I like to throw most of my veggies in then start swishing my pork. The pork quality was okay, have to really be careful not to overcook, or they tend to get too chewy. The lamb was really tender and soft though. The dipping sauces were on point, personal favorite was the ponzu with some garlic and some radish. Now that SD is finally getting cold, will probably be back when craving shabu!

You have to pay extra for udon noodles now. One serving is large enough for 2 people to share though so its ok. Also, I feel like the quality and thickness of the regular beef has gone up. Compared to the other Shabu place on Convoy, this place is better! Other than that, this place is still my #1 go-to spot!
