I absolutely love this place. I’ve ordered in once and ordered to-go another time. The food remained fresh, warm, and not soggy when I got home! The flavor is just amazing in each of the burgers. The only reason I’m giving this review a 4⁄5 star is because with my last order, my fries tasted fishy. If I wanted to eat fish and chips, I would like that flavor. However, I was disappointed to eat my burger with a fishy taste of fries. Overall excellent place, and you’ll definitely be full!

Prelims: parking is a pain in the rear. Sacrifice your first born son and you may just be able to find a spot as a person is leaving. Short of that, other than offering your right leg to someone to leave, you’ll end up parking on the blocks surrounding this hellish location of a parking spot(seriously! who designed this crapshoot?! What engineer/designer/planner needs to get fired for this atrocity?!) It’s located right next to RakiRaki, a seemingly hidden, tucked away location. I came here with a bunch of guys because it feels right when the flagship sandwich is called a beast. The server at the time was the owner and he was playing the Lakers game(yes, they still sucked) while we were eating, which was nice. Service was quick despite a large contingent of men waiting hungrily for their food right after a series of pickup basketball games and a large gut. The prices were reasonable for what you get — it’s not a fancy burger joint like Burger Lounge. And it’s less casual than Hodad’s. But the mixture in between was quite nice and the restaurant had a homey feel to it. The food was interesting to say the least. The most memorable sandwich is the B-B-B-Beast which is an amalgam of meats on top of meats on top of meats sandwiched between two slices of TX toast. It should be a rule that this is the first sandwich you get when you come here because while it isn’t the best tasting sandwich or burger on the menu, you get what this place is all about by eating this behemoth. It was utterly quantity over quality, but the quality wasn’t at all that bad. It was still quite delicious and I had a grand olé time eating it when it came out. If you’re looking for something even more delicious, then get the Texas burger. Take Beast — now add cheese to all different levels. That’s the Texas. So gloriously cheesy. ITAINTEASYBEINGCHEESY! The food is quite good — not Hodad or Burger Lounge level, but will easily meet the quality levels of Red Robin, Islands, or even Smashburger and you’ll leaving feeling like you conquered the world after having slain the«B-B-B-Beast»! TL;DR Ridiculous sandwiches/burgers — taken to a whole new level.

I don’t understand this place. The burger was overcooked even though I asked for medium. Super greasy and just not that great. Atmosphere is weird. Looks like a boba shop with hodge podge stuff. Service was ok. Not the friendliest either.

Came expecting a burger place worth the drive and effort to find parking, left not feeling the love. Parking isn’t just bad, it is TERRIBLE. Park blocks away, you’ll end up doing it either way so you might as well do it at the start. You will NOT get lucky, you’ll just just stuck in the parking lot unable to back up or move forward because of the massive amount of cars waiting for a spot. There are a ton of restaurants in the same complex, even getting here at an off time you’ll have a hard time finding any parking. The burger is a behemoth, I’ll be the first to admit that. We shared a burger and the chop chop with no jalapenos. The chop chop really needed a sauce of some sort, it was dry and boring. The burger was a bit overdone and just not flavored well. It replaced flavor with size, and for me the trade wasn’t a good one. The fries and onion rings were the best part of the meal. We left our leftovers at the restaurant, and decided we wouldn’t be back.

How can I even begin to describe the deliciousness of this restaurant? The burgers are stuffed with cheese that oozes out with each mouth watering bite. I get the Texas burger which includes onion rings and BBQ sauce. You can’t go without trying the mac and cheese bites either! They are to die for! Definitely our go to spot for burgers. You can tell they’re hand patties and not just frozen garbage from any other old burger joint. You’ll want to go on an empty stomach because these burgers are huge! They are closed on Mondays so don’t try to go on that day!

A great sit down burger place! I’m assuming that Babs is a acronym for Bao’s Awesome Burger’s and Sandwiches. I Was expecting a typical fast food burger type of experience, but I was wrong! One thing about this place is that the parking here can be terrible. Like most plazas on Convoy, parking in the plaza can get difficult. I had to park about ½ block away on another street and walked to the plaza. Once you get there, you get greeted by the people there. It wasn’t too busy when I went there for dinner. We chose a booth and looked at the menu. I like the décor and the cleanliness of the place. They have about 4 to 5 booths, small tables and a evaluated table area. I decided to get the breakfast burger, which has tater tots, a fried egg and cheddar cheese. My friend decided to get the Mushroom Swiss burger. The burgers also come with a side of fries. When the burger came, I was surprised by the size of it. For around $ 9, the burger looks like it should be a couple bucks more expensive. One awesome feature of the burgers here is that the cheese is stuffed inside the patty. One bite of the burger saw the cheese ooze out of the patty. It was fantastic! Somehow, the cheese exploded out of the patty and some ended up on the top of the bun. The same thing happened for my friend’s burger as well. The patty was juicy and I barely finished it. The burgers here are definitely a must try! The fries were pretty good, but a little over-seasoned. The service here was very good. The food came in a timely fashion and the waiter was nice and courteous. It was definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in San Diego. This place has definitely been added to my places to eat in SD!

Babs is a great sit down burger joint. They do burgers and meaty sandwiches right with a healthy dose of style. The restaurant is relatively small. Located on Convoy in a popular strip center, parking can be trouble. I have had reasonable luck finding a spot by arriving at non-peak times but I’m always prepared here to need to find street parking back in the neighborhood. Once you get inside, you find a funky mix of modern meets diner décor. Bright colors and big pictures of their signature sandwiches lend a festive vibe. I had the Cheddar Chopped Bacon Burger with tatter tots. The cheese stuffed patty made for a substantial burger. The cheese inside gimmick works. It makes for a molten gooey sauce which paired with the classic burger toppings and bacon was a great variation. The tots were tots. Cooked right they were a good side for this kind of burger. It was a bit messy and the extra bits from the sandwich were fine as tot toppings… The menu contains plenty of other tempting choices and I know I would like to make a return soon.

I walked in expecting more of a fast-food type experience. Order at the counter and then sit down, buuuut I was wrong and it’s more of a sit down place. although you can still order to-go as well. The place has loud colored walls, I guess to match their crazy over the top burgers. Holy smokes, their menu was almost a bit overwhelming with so many choices and power-packed sandwiches. Then add to that the fact that each patty is infused with cheese. yup, cheese INSIDE the patty, how genius! Or at least their«quicksand» burgers are infused with cheese. MMMM. Seeing a hefty amount of good reviews, we were expecting this place to be somewhat busy for dinner, but we were the only ones in there. I mean it is in the busy lot with Crab Hut, TapEx, RakiRaki, etc. Seated immediately, I mean-obviously right? haha. Waters served while we perused the menu. Everything on the menu looked so good, it was hard to decide! I ended up going with the avocado bacon swiss burger and opted with the standard side of fries. My boyfriend got the chicken bacon ranch which did not come with any sides. The chicken sandwich is first to come out, then waited a bit before the rest of our order made it out. Oh my. the sandwich and burger were huge! Cut my burger in half before realizing what I just did… letting all the ooey gooey oh so yummy melted swiss cheese ooze from inside the burger. It was a mess to eat, but it was definitely love at first bite! The burger itself was seasoned well and the veggies fresh. The bacon got lost in the cheese and overpowered by the burger itself, which I didn’t mind because it was soo good in general! I tried a bite or two of the chicken bacon ranch, and it was definitely filling. Large chicken tenders drenched in ranch. MM, I can feel the unhealthy goodness in my veins. The fries were thin, crispy, and cooked to perfection! I really enjoyed the seasoning and flavoring of them as well. It wasn’t too overpowering, but definitely enough that they were more than your standard french fry. Overall, it was a pretty solid first impression and I’ll definitely be returning to try more from their menu!

Great stuffed burgers and delicious fries. This was the best stuffed burger that I had eaten. I ordered the Texas Burger and it was big. It came with a side of fries that was seasoned well. My 3 year old daughter ordered the chicken nuggets kids meal that came with a side of seasoned fries that she really enjoyed and my wife ordered the breakfast burger that she had to eat with a knife and fork… lol.

Went to BABS for an early lunch. The burgers looked bomb. As we entered, we were greeted by the owner(I think) and we got to choose where to sit. We choose a booth. Place is small but the décor was upbeat and cute. In the background, I hear hip hop music and I liked the hip vibe here. I ordered a Diet Coke and the breakfast burger which came with seasoned fries. Yum! We got our drink orders. Sipped on our drinks and listened to music while we waited for our burgers. About 15 minutes later, our burgers came out. My breakfast burger had a thick meat patty filled with cheddar cheese inside, lettuce, tomato, onions, tater tots, and a fried egg. So much goodness in a burger. There was also a spicy aioli sauce that was spread on the bread buns inside. I literally had to eat my burger with a fork and knife. So tasty and the meat was juicy. The fries were cooked well and seasoned with pepper. As I finished my burger and fries, I was sipping on my Diet Coke. Our waitress asked me if I needed a refill and told her I was good. This was a different take on a burger and I was truly happy with the food and service. This is a must try. Parking can be difficult if you get here late afternoon so we got here around 10:30 am on a Sunday afternoon. They open at 11 am. Luckily parking was not full when we got here. I highly recommend this place if you want a tasty burger!

UM Babs is kind of amazing?! It’s highly rated however their small restaurant usually stays empty; probably due to its competitors such as RakiRaki and Crab Hut in the same horrible Asian parking lot. I’m obsessed with the fact that cheese oozes out of the meat patty here! They cook the meat perfectly to order and they have an variety of fries to choose from! My combo is the cheddar bacon burger with a side of criss-cut fries. Unfortunately the last time I came and wanted to try a milkshake they were out of milk, but it’s totally understandable as they’re a small business. They have TVs, and an abundance of seating available. Try a burger here, I promise you won’t regret it!

I wish I could give less than one star. We just ordered from this place for the first time using their delivery service«The Meal Man» through the EAT24 app. We were pretty excited about their interesting twist to burgers/sandwiches and ordered: 1. Original Burger 2. Roast Beef Sandwich 3. B Tots When our order came we were stoked to try. I was about half way through my roast beef sandwich when my mouth pulled on something that gave way after I tugged hard enough. After chewing and swallowing I looked down at my sandwich for my next bite when I saw the end of a thick black hair in the middle of my sandwich. I know what you’re probably thinking… It could have been my own hair as I have dark hair myself and believe me, I thought so too, except my hair was pulled back in a tight pony tail at the time. All my doubt disappeared when I opened my sandwich and saw the rest of hair curled deeply inside the rest of my sandwich. This hair was IN my sandwich. It was thick and black and medium length. I don’t normally get easily grossed out but for some reason it made me want to throw up. I took a photo and gave the hair a tug and the rest of the hair unraveled out of the sandwich. My fiancé immediately stopped eating his burger and we threw everything away including the untouched B Tots. I can’t even review the taste of the food because I’m so grossed out about the hair. I called the restaurant and we talked to the manager who was really rude instead of apologetic. She said she couldn’t do anything because we had ordered through EAT24 so we would have to talk to them. Luckily EAT24 is amazing and asked for a picture(which is posted here as well) and quickly refunded us for the incident. Babs or Bao’s! WEAR A HAIRNETOR A HATINTHEKITCHEN! Nothing turns off customers more than human body hairs in the food.

Stuffed burgers with cheese inside. Sign me up! Parking in this parking lot is horrible because of course it’s Convoy plus right next to Crab Hut and Tapioca Express and other popular food establishments. I ordered the avocado, bacon & swiss burger while my boyfriend ordered the B-B-Beast. My favorite burger is probably the avocado, bacon & swiss. I’ve also tried a Texas burger but didn’t enjoy it as much. I’d definitely look on groupon for deals. I’ve used it twice here. You know I love saving money whenever I can especially on food. The décor is colorful but the inside is really not as big as you would think it should be.

I was craving a burger, as always, so I came across Babs. I didn’t do much research before coming here so I was pleasantly surprised that the burgers here were Juicy Lucy style(melted cheese inside of the patty) Food: I ordered the Bacon Avocado Burger. I asked for my burger medium and it came out well done so the patty was dry. This killed my experience with the burger. Had the patty been cooked correctly, it would’ve been a solid burger. The curly fries were overly fried. Service: The service is good. The server was friendly and checked on me a few times. Parking: Not ideal. It’s on Convoy so you should already know the parking situation here. Babs is located in a plaza, so there is shared free parking, but it’s very difficult to find a spot.

Babs makes me bab-el with goodness. I got the delicious chopped cheddar bacon burger. The meat was well cooked and I loved the sauce more than my girlfriend. The fried were almost like straw fries, perfectly seasoned. The food coupled with the service was by far one of the best in San Diego. Jason served us, he was great even though he did tease us about loving golf. I’d go again and again.

My fav sandwich place in town! Even after I became vegetarian! I used to come here a lot with my college boyfriend. He’d always get the B-B-Beast and I stuck with the B-B-Beauty. Sooo delicious! Their tots are to die for! My boyfriend also managed to scarf down a Beauty and the Beast, which is both sandwiches stacked on top of each other. I still don’t know how he did it. Fast forward a few years when I came back as a vegetarian… Their veggie sandwich is so good and soo filling! I got to introduce a party of 11 to this place, and everyone was happy! You’ll never leave here hungry, that’s for sure.

I was pumped to finally try out this burger joint! We ordered the B tots, Texas burger & the hot as hell. The tots were crispy & toppings were good. Nothing special about it. Onto our burgers… I had the hot as hell. It wasn’t that spicy just a little kick, not enough cheese in the center(sadly no oozing dripping cheese) & my burger was a tad dry. My friend had the Texas burger. She enjoyed the bbq sauce, the cheese oozing out(lucky her) & that was about it. We came in during lunch hour & the joint wasn’t busy at all. I’m willing to give this place another try, just because there are many different types of burgers & sandwiches on the menu that does look delicious. I’ll be back BABs till we meet again…

BABS is located a few doors down from the famous Rakiraki Ramen – yes, in that same tight parking lot – and this eatery is pretty small. However, their Slater’s 50/50-like burgers(they come with the knife stabbed in the middle as well) are one-of-a-kind creations that are especially unique because they are served with tater tots. Though my friend and I didn’t experience the greatest service during our first trip to BABS for dinner around 7 p.m. on a Thursday night – they forgot to put part of our order in the system and we didn’t get served for almost an hour – we would still return to the burger joint because there are tons of things to try on that menu! Here’s what I would recommend, as well as items I’d want to try in the future: «Breakfast Burger»: Though there were several different burgers I wanted to order, I went with this one because it included a fried egg(Slater’s 50/50-style). This burger includes tater tots, a fried egg, Cajun sauce and the patty itself is stuffed with cheddar. I especially love how the Cheddar cheese oozes out of the patty with every bite! The Cajun sauce had a great, slight kick to it as well, but it wasn’t too spicy for me to handle. I also love the fries that came with this dish — they weren’t super crispy but had enough crunch and taste. This burger was an all-around winner and I’d definitely order it again. «Roast Beef Burger»: So my friend ordered the«Hot as Hell» burger, but the kitchen messed up and gave him this one instead. Though he wants to return to actually try the burger that he originally ordered, he said that this«Roast Beef» version was still yummy. This burger comes with a Cheddar filling and is topped with juicy roast beef and peppercorn sauce. My friend enjoyed the roast beef shavings – they certainly weren’t stingy with the roast beef – and the slight kick of the blended peppercorn sauce. «Texas Burger»: If I’m super hungry the next time I come to BABS, I’m totally getting this burger. It’s Cheddar-stuffed as well, and it comes topped with bacon and sweet barbecue sauce. I don’t usually go for barbecue sauce on my burger – to me, it just needs to stay separate on chicken wings – but this combo actually sounds tantalizing. «Breakfast Sandwich»: I usually prefer sandwiches over burgers, so if I’m in the mood for a sandwich instead, I’d probably go for this one. It’s pretty similar to the breakfast burger, in that it features a fried egg and tater tots, but this savory sandwich comes with chopped bacon and ham as well. I think the only thing that would make this sandwich even better is if it came with some cheese, but I would still love to try it one day. «Criss Cross Fries»: It was hard to order another side because my friend and I filled up on our burgers and accompanying tots, but I’m a sucker for any type of waffle, criss cross-style fries. Especially when they’re seasoned and look oh-so-good on the BABS menu! Definitely have to try these sometime. «B Tots»: This is basically BABS version of «loaded fries,» but in tater tot form, of course. It entails chopped crispy bacon, diced tomatoes, grilled onions, shredded cheese and sour crème over a basket of these fried morsels. I would probably order this sharable dish without the onions and tomatoes, but everything else makes it good to go. «Mac n Cheese Bites»: There sure are a lot of sides and deep-fried items on the BABS menu, and these bites are just one of the ones I want to try. I love the deep-fried mac n cheese balls found at The Cheesecake Factory and other restaurants, so I would definitely be down to order these one day. You can’t go wrong with deep-fried mac ‘n cheese morsels served piping hot. «Cheesy Cheese Crunchers»: This dish sounds like a great one for sharing if you come to BABS with a group or four or so. It includes a platter of Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Mac ‘n Cheese Bites and Crème Cheese Wontons, as well as potato chips. I’m not sure about the potato chip quality, but the other deep-fried cheese bits are ones that I’d love to try! Plus, the plate comes with sweet ‘n sour and ranch sauces for dipping. «Shrimp Po-Boy»: This savory sandwich features hand-battered popcorn shrimp that’s served with lettuce, tomato and Cajun sauce on a hoagie roll. I’ve had shrimp po-boys at other restaurants like Bubba Gump, but I’m interested to see how the BABS’ version tastes. «Fish ‘n Chips»: Since I’m always on the lookout for a good fish ‘n chips, I’ll have to try the BABS version sometime(plus, this fish ‘n chips entrée isn’t as expensive as the ones you would find at other places). It includes three pieces of battered and deep-fried cod served atop a bed of fries and accompanied with tartar sauce. Since I typically don’t use tartar sauce with my fish ‘n chips, I hope the fish are moist and tender with a crispy exterior, and that they have enough flavor … but if not, it’s nothing that a pinch of salt can’t fix.
