Alisa is amazing!!!
I had very long hair and decided it was time for a change. I brought in several pictures of ideas I had on about* what I wanted it to look like but wasn’t exactly clear. Alisa did an amazing job of synthesizing all of the pictures and giving me an amazing short cut. It is not always easy loosing 6 inches of hair, but my cut was so fabulous and so many people commented on how good it looked, I never felt the grief. She has also done a fantastic job of coloring my hair. I dye it black and have purple underneath. She bleached it perfectly — not too yellow and not rubbery and breaking apart. This is not such an easy job.
Before Alisa, I did see someone else at the parlor (I can’t remember who now) but they were also great.
I can’t recommend The Parlor enough!

Cara is awesome. I’ve lived in SD for over a decade now and Cara is definitely my favorite stylist. The pricing is also pretty reasonable as well. I have very straight Asian hair so any discrepancy in layering is very obvious. Go to Cara. You’d love her.

I fell into The Parlor and Cara’s chair when two of my gal pals recommended her by name. They both said she was the color queen, and let me tell you, they weren’t lying! Almost two years later and I’m still getting my hair done by her religiously. She’s the only stylist I have seen on a consistent basis. Ever.
The Parlor is nice and small. There is only ever one other person there at a time when I’m in, but don’t let that deter you. It’s like a revolving door and from what I see, all the stylists are awesome and always busy.

The signature refresher is an awesome deal and Alisa was so great! Loved the cut and subtle blonde balayage she did for me. She was so patient with my indecisiveness and I totally (and rightfully) trusted her suggestions for color and style. Plus she gave me so many styling tips along the way.

Have followed Kendra for years. I love her, her salon and am always beyond satisfied w my hair cut and color. She does a great job and I would highly recommend her!

Alisa at The Parlor is the best! She does an amazing job with my color /​highlights and cuts. She is always willing to work with my schedule. I can’t say enough good things — my hair has never looked and felt better!

Rhonda did my hair today for the first time. It looks AMAZING!!! She took one look at it and knew exactly how to cut it to make it look just how I had wanted it… and she didn’t take too much off which was very important to me. Besides the amazing cut, she is just a pleasure to be around! She is personable and funny and I felt like I had known her for years. I will most definitely be coming back to see her!

I’ve been getting my haircut by Alisa for at least 5 years now. Guys like me are always last minute with getting a haircut. It just isn’t a priority on my to-​do list. But she always manages to fit me in and the times where I had an emergency (like, hey, I’m leaving tomorrow for a wedding and I forgot…) she has always come through. She’ll cut my hair for as long as I still have it! The best.

I moved here June of 2013 & chose to come to this salon because of the wonderful Unilocal reviews. I have been coming here ever since! Rhonda is fantastic & I always love my hair & get many compliments. She’s helped me get through the pixie-​cut growth process with grace & has always done a great job on my color. My ONLY negative is the lack of parking at the shop but that certainly doesn’t keep a girl from a great haircut!

I have trust issues when it comes to my hair because I have had so many bad experiences. I moved here from Boston in 2012, I haven’t cut my hair since 2010. It was getting ridiculously long and heavy I had to get a cut. After searching Unilocal I came across The Parlor, a Boutique Salon and decided to set up an appt with Kendra because of al the 5 star reviews. Kendra did an amazing job. I have gone to her twice and she’s nailed it both times! She’s very friendly. I have gone to other salons and ask for a trim and walk out with my hair chopped off, but not Kendra, she will cut only what you tell her. If you guys want a nice cut — must see Kendra!

Rhonda is so personable and talented! I go in and ask for something and my hair always turns out the way I had it pictured in my head. That’s a hairdresser for you! I always walk out feeling so pretty!

I am extremely particular about my long locks and have lived all over the US. I’ve been very fortunate to find amazing salons in all those cities and thanks to Unilocalers — The Parlor fits the bill too.
I’ve been coming to The Parlor for over 2 years. First year and change with Kendra and once she had her baby I switched to Alisa. My husband goes to Rhonda and loves his cuts as well. Kendra and Alisa both do amazing color (I go from red to blonde to brunette with blue, purple highlights) and I have been SO pleased.
Note, this is not a big salon. These girls are all about hair and are very knowledgable. Parking can be a bit of a pain but that’s also to be expected for the area.

Now, living in SD it’s hard dealing with so many high-​end boutique hair salons. Which ones the best? Which one isn’t so ridiculously expensive?!
As a broke ass college student I found out about this place… with a 45 dollar price tage its the perfect range of not too ridiculous or cheap and questionable. Now i’ll admit I was a bit nervous, I was planning on chopping off a good amount of my hair and was worried i’d regret it. But nope! Cara did an excellent job: D She made me feel comfy, also the convo never felt forced… because oh jesus i’ve been to places where just yapyapyap.
But anyways I definitely recommend and I will be going back soon to cut my hair even shorter! Yay thanks ladies :)

5+++ stars for Cara. I had just purchased some clip in hair extensions to add some volume and a bit of length to my hair and they were WAY too long. I took them in to have them cut, styled and blended in to my hair. Cara REALLY knows extensions and was able to cut and style them so that they look amazing — I seriously feel like a celebrity and they don’t look fake.
So glad I found her and would highly recommend (and i’m quite picky about my hair)! She’s also a great person and a lot of fun to talk to !

I have been coming to «The Parlor» since it first opened. These ladies are the BEST hair stylists around. I am very particular about my hair. It has been very easy to sit back, relax and allow Cara to take control. The style consultation, the shampoo, the conversation, the color, the cut, the wine while you are there… nothing short of perfection. Thanks Ladies! I have great hair, your prices are amazing and I love booking on line ²⁴⁄₇.

So, The Parlor has a lot going for it: convenience (especially that web sign up!), friendliness of staff, and overall talent. I had mermaid hair (as in definitely long enough to cover the important bits), and wanted most of it gone. I had gone to a different place years before to lop off a lot of my hair (Paper Dolls), and I heard that some of the hair stylists from PD started The Parlor. Basically, I had confidence in them going in.
I believe Cara was my hair stylist that day in mid-​January. Thoroughly enjoyed her company. I’m not much of a conversationalist, but that was quite alright because she easily kept the conversation flowing. My mother has also been with her, and did not appreciate the chattiness as much as I did. It’s a personal thing. At one point, though, two other stylists ended up in a conversation with Cara. I was not excluded by any stretch, but did not feel comfortable either. It’s a very small salon, so if the possibility of having your conversation overheard by other stylists is a concern… think about it.
A comment re: the drinks: Yes, they do indeed offer you a drink when you first arrive, which is lovely. I am not sure if they offered me an alcoholic drink because I declined before they specified, but they did not check ID if so.
A comment re: location/​parking: Yes, parking sucks in this area. However, there are spaces out front if you’re lucky enough to get it. I did. But just… go a little earlier just in case. When you arrive, you’ll need to go through a courtyard. At the back of the courtyard behind some lil’ palm trees is where you will find the salon. I didn’t mind, personally – quite soothing, the separation from the busy street.
To the actual styling: I had Cara do what she thought best with my long hair. She cut it so the ends fell a couple of inches below my shoulders… a good five inches came off! A little layering, because that’s a decent look on anyone. Nothing too fussy, because I’m the sort to let my hair air-​dry. Of course, this being a hair salon, my hair is less glamorous than Cara made it that day. Naturally, it’s because I don’t use a hair dryer. Still, the cut is flattering, and I have no problems with it.
On the off chance that any of the stylists bother to read these (especially my long-​winded one), Cara – thanks for the cut and the bonus neck massage! It probably wasn’t part of the package, but you made my visit lovely nonetheless.

Lauren’s been doing my hair for a year now, and I’ve put her through the ringer. I first came in after a stylist at a different salon hacked my hair, giving me a pageboy instead of a long bob (most traumatic experience, ever). But she managed to do the impossible, and make it look feminine. I honestly have no idea how she did it, but I was impressed. Then, last fall she placed my hair extensions, and did a fantastic job. I left them in for 4 months, and had them tightened once by Lauren. I only had her take them out when my scalp needed a break, but I do miss the compliments. They really turned out better than I could have ever imagined.
Seriously ladies and gents, you can trust your hair with Lauren. She can do anything.

I went here in August 2012 to go from long hair to a pixie cut. I was insanely nervous, but Rhonda did a perfect job. She gave me exactly what I asked for, a very feminine and easy to take care of style. I loved the ambience of the place, and how straightforward the pricing is. I’m going back next week for a trim and for some advice on growing my hair out to a bob.
Honestly, I’ve gotten a compliment on my hair every single day since August! It’s amazing! I’ve never been more happy with a salon, ever.

What I like about this place, is that it is warm and inviting, not all snotty and I am more upscale than you type of place. All the Girls that work there are very nice and make you feel at home.
They offer you wine water or beer, OK here is where I almost dropped a star, it was Bud Lite… ugghhh but I was so happy with the service and the dew that I was able to over look that.
