Burger fine. Poutine ok but would not order again. Ceviche not very good. Too much of a sweet tomato sauce of some kind. Calamari not good. Very breaded and oily. And not very tasty. Service underwhelming

All my friends are beer nerds and love this place for it. That aside, all the food is great, atmosphere and staff are quirky. Great gastropub-type food.

This is a great place to have awesome craft beer and creative artisan entrees. I love the wild boar hamburger and deconstructed smores for dessert. There is a wide selection of beer from all over the craft world. The location is a bit inconspicuous but restaurant is layout is very nice and we’ll thought out. I especially like the community long table where you order drinks and anything from the menu first come first serve. Most places have a bar area that is tiny and is usually at the bar, this table is much better. Get here early because this place is super busy.

Been here twice now, great service both times, food was great both times. Got the cheese curds, and a different burger each time, and also the cheese fries(forgot what they are called) Also got the butterscotch bread pudding both time! Second time is was just kinda warm and didn’t have much sauce. Hopefully it was just a mess up. Anyways, its a nice place, good food, good beer selection, friendly staff.

Not sure we will be back. Waitress was fantastic. No complaints about service. We sat outside near a heater. Calamari is good. A bit salty. Good dip. Son had wings app and said they were pretty good but overpriced. I had ahi sandwich. So peppered I could barely eat it. Husband agreed. His fish and chips was dry. Son had a burger: outside edge burned and inside medium… Trying hard to be spicy and failed. Desserts were AMAZING! Whisky cake and bread pudding were lavish and delicious. Just not impressed. Might go back just for dessert!

My boyfriend and I have traveled 40 minutes to get here twice in two weeks. We literally broke our juice cleanse last weekend to be at Black Out(an event they hosted). Were we disappointed? HECKNO. This place gets crowded and sure, there’s wait time during peak hours. Both times, we gave our names and headed to the bar. We’d order a couple beers and hang around the bar area until someone leaves. Then, snatch a table. So fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long both times. They have enticing events that bring different brewers and beers on tap. It’s a super fun atmosphere and Urge will have a special menu for that day. I follow Urge on Instagram(do it so you’re aware of upcoming events!) and the Cubano Sandwich they posted for yesterday’s Founders Brewing event got my boyfriend and me up and in the car as soon as we got home from work. We dared say it might’ve been one of the best cubans sandwich we’ve ever tasted. I know, bold statement. The X wings that we got for an appetizer were also top notch – highly highly recommend if you like spicy(wasabi dry rubbed – nice and crispy – with a jalapeño dipping sauce). Beer – we are beer drinkers. This place makes us happy. Their tap list is so long and so varied that you’re bound to run into something that you’ve never tried before. As far as customer service goes, they’re amazing. My boyfriend and I commented to each other last night how if we’re usually seated at a bar, we barely get any service. But here, they make it a point to converse with you and make sure you’re well taken care of. Our beer glasses were never empty and food came out quickly.

I found this place on Unilocal for a late dinner. We ordered a Garbage burger & California burger. I actually liked the Garbage burger more because it was more flavorful. The fries were crispy and seasoned. My bf also ordered a Ginga Ninja which he enjoyed. I wasn’t wowed because I expected more due to the high reviews.

We walk in and head to the host stand. We probably only waited 3 – 4 minutes to be seated but while we were waiting 3 different employees went behind the host stand and completely ignored us. That’s an awkward way to begin out visit. No one made eye contact much less gave a acknowledgment. A simple«be right with you» would alleviate that problem. We are sat at our table and our server is prompt and pleasant. We ordered a sculpin off the menu which they are out of. Understandable, however there is no other IPA option which is strange for a beer based beverage program in San Diego. Meanwhile I ask for lemon with my iced tea and get the thin sliced lemons instead of wedges. A personal pet peeve of mine. How am I supposed to squeeze juice from that? I have to use my fingers to squeeze the pulp. Now I have lemon juice all over my hands and realize we have no roll ups on our table. We place our order. My husband, «Can I have the plain Jane burger totally plain though. Meat and bun» Me «no cheese or anything. Just the meat» Burger comes out. Cheese. All over it. Our server gets a 20 person table and is stuck there for a while which I don’t hold against her. But it took a while for anyone to cover her table and my husband sat with empty glass for about 10 minutes before he flagged down someone else to help out. The food was great though. Cheese curds were amazing. Sculpin mustard was incredible and the garbage burger was also delicious. Food came out quickly. Overall I might return for those cheese curds and mustard but the awkward greeting and staccato service makes this review regretfully sub par.

Okay this place is way cool! I have to update my review next time since I left my ID at home(like usual) but the dos was fine. I got the poke plate. It was really good but then not the best. Sushi grade is trust worthy though.

Fries were seasoned well and super crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. I liked their ordering system where the waitress punches orders into an app to be sent directly to the kitchen. No waiting around for her to write anything or punch it into a buggy POS. The server was extremely friendly and accommodating, explaining the menu and letting me know that chicken and veggie burgers were options for all of the burgers listed on the menu. She took our drink orders and food orders at the same time. And when there was a mixup with one person getting regular fries instead of the sweet potato fries he originally asked for, she brought out another plate in addition to the regular fries already on his plate. I thought that the regular seasoned fries were by far the superior of the two options. My chicken California«burger» was a bit on the dry side, with the chicken definitely being cooked to well done. It also didn’t seem to have been marinated in any sauces or tenderizers. However, the toppings were really fresh. Also, I asked that the spicy aioli be left on the side, which could have contributed to the overall dryness. I really liked that they were really generous in the portion of sliced avocado, and it was sliced and fanned out on top of the chicken in a really pretty way. I asked for a different cheese(don’t like American), but it was left off, which was fine with me in the end, though I wouldn’t have minded some Swiss. I also ordered a delicious Two Towns apple cider, which they had on tap and really hit the spot after a long day of hiking. A friend of mine ordered the Seared Sesame Ahi with«coconut rice» and didn’t seem too impressed, but I think she may have missed that the description re: coconut is actually for a coconut porter(beer), so the flavors wouldn’t have been strongly coconut. Overall, I was enjoyed my meal and will definitely consider coming back to Urge the next time I am in the San Diego area.

URGEGASTROPUB!~ = 5 Stars~ I’ve frequently came to Urge countless of times since it opened in 2010, and each time has been a 5 Star visit :]] My usual food order from the past was«Burger of the Gods» which is the grass fed beef patty, applewood smoked bacon, basil pesto, green goddess aioli, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Tonight I came by and the initial impressions were good. The hostess was very sweet, and very apologetic for the wait time which wasn’t even long at all. Upon being seated the server was very warm and friendly! His service was great from beginning to end as he was very attentive. BEERS: Bell’s Double Cream Stout & Avery Raspberry Sour FOOD: Short Rib Poutine and Chicken & Waffles The beers tasted great and paired well with the food which came out warm and fresh from the kitchen. The ***Short Rib Poutine*** were flavorful with all the fixings in it, and with each bite I dipped my fries with some yummy garlic aioli which I requested for on the side. As for the **chicken** the breading was crunchy with a tasty delightful crisp and the meat was nice and tender. It came with a honey mustard which was flavorful for dipping. The **waffles** were light and fluffy on the inside and the syrup made it even more sweet and appetizing. Overall, a really great gastropub in Rancho Bernardo for craft beers and delicious food.

Not very good food today at all, and this is not a first occurrence. Again, the so called«crispy fries» were the opposite, limp, icky, and some were still translucent in the middle, as in under cooked. Gross. The fish was bland, and again soggy. Before I’ve had a burger, which tasted ok, although it was a bit difficult to eat. But the horrible fries that came with it ruined lunch. Both times were lunch. Ugh. Not cheap either. Stick to the beer I suppose?

We stopped in for a late lunch at Urge the other day. There was not anything special about this place that stuck out in my mind. I really did not like how the two dining rooms were split from each other. We were basically seated next to the mens bathroom. My sister and I were really happy with our tortilla soup, and the other sister(the most picky of them all) actually devoured her fish and chips… so, that was a great sign! My dad did not complain about his salad and mom enjoyed her grilled cheese. So, 3.5 Unilocal, and since it is Christmas time, I will round up to four!

Cozy little gastropub hidden within a bunch of lil shops. Dropped in for a drink after dinner with Mr. W and yes, I did get carded. So if you look younger than you are, don’t forget to bring your driver’s license although to be honest you should always carry it around. Can’t review for the food but could review for some of the draft drinks! I enjoyed the Blonde Ale and the Festivity(Brown Ale). That in itself is pretty amazing as I normally do not drink beer at all. I have always been a sangria/mixed drinks drinker but guess times are a changing. Both were not too bitter which I do like. I think the Blonde Ale some what resembled a Blue Moon but might be me as it’s been a while since I had one. Mr. W drank the 2015 Double Bastard and the Hawaiian Speedway Stout. Which in my opinion was just way too bitter for my taste but he liked it so *shrug* Quite the urge to become a alcoholic. Just playing :) but am game to come here again.

This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Rancho Bernardo. Although that’s not saying much, since there’s not a lot to choose from. Haha! We came here on a whim one night. Looking for some awesome finger foods. These were what we’ve tried so far. Beer Cheese Soup: it’s been super cold so I wanted something to warm me up real quick. It was like a loaded potato chowder. Perfect for this weather! Serrano Wings: Holy cow!!! These wings have so much flavor. There’s definitely a good kick at the end. Loved it! Short Rib Poutine: Oh man, this was everything I expected. Very hearty and just right. It’s probably one of the best poutine I’ve had in San Diego and I can’t believe it’s in RB. Haha Beer: I tried the Sherry Butt Mama Sour beer. It was ok. I wished they had a larger cidre selection as they ran out that night, hence the one star deduction. Overall, we’ll definitely be back to try their other dishes! So glad we have at least Urge to fall back on!

Been here a couple of times to grab a quick bite with friends. They have a pretty tasty menu and interesting digs to munch and grab a craft brew to end your day. They do have a private room that can host a good party of 10 – 12 that is sealed off and private. You’ll have to call in to reserve in advance. They don’t otherwise take reservations. Each time that I have visited this location, I recall that experience being nice and service is on-point. They were very accommodating when we were in the backroom with a bunch of little kids and families; they were also accommodating when I went recently with a gf who didn’t realize how spicy the tacos were(she seriously cannot eat spice and thinks black pepper is spicy). This most recent time, they brought out a fresh plate of tacos deconstructed so she could taste and add each layer herself. They didn’t charge for the extra plate. That’s great service in my book. I don’t recall the food all that much except that their burgers and fries are always delicious. Recently they have a foot long chicago dog which looked amazing. I love that they have a kids menu and the belgium waffle on the kid’s menu– also served at night) smelled amazing. Prices are fair. and their beer list is pretty strong. Definitely recommend and would return.

We recently moved to RB, and after having lived on the border of North Park and Hillcrest for five years, we were a little scared about having to drive some distance to get a decent bite to eat. Fortunately, we’ve discovered there are great places just around the corner. Urge is one of those places. I love me a good burger, and this is a place to get one. We opted for the side salad and no bun(so healthy!) and the side salad was HUGE. It was awesome and fresh, and a welcome side to our meal. I also love me so good beer, and Urge has plenty to offer. This location is beer and wine only, so do keep that in mind. Thanks, Urge, for welcoming us to the ‘hood!

A gastropub up North named«Urge» Where beer, meat and sugar converge, Distended my stomach Creating a hummock And caused me an adipose surge. There’s great news to share with you guys Who crave a Canadian prize; Urge offers, for starters The last meal of martyrs: Outstanding Poutine — duck, sauce, fries. My waiter acknowledged quite coyly The fact that their meatloaf was oily; Chorizo, while tasty Made everything pasty, The grease, I sopped up with a doily The bar offered beer, a contingent That helped, as grease hates an astringent; The bite, thick like pulp Was washed down with one gulp; Cold Pliny freed up the impingement. Then fin’ly, «No afters,» I pleaded, «A lunch after lunch is unneeded!» Bread Pudding and coffee And sugar and toffee Still showed up, my begging unheeded. So eat it I did; I am proud Of being the one in the crowd Who eats what’s bestowed ‘Til his breeches explode, Then pays, tips and leaves, head unbowed.

Fiancé heard about Urge on a beer podcast he follows and he wanted to go for lunch this weekend. Off to San Diego we went! Décor — Nice, loved their outdoor patio. Service — A-OK. I don’t feel like our waitress was overly attentive. Prices — Good. Lunch was $ 50 for two burgers, a cup of soup, a soda, and four beer tasters. Food — I liked his food better than mine. Maybe if I had ordered something different I would have liked it more. Beer Cheese Soup — This was kind of bitter and had too much pepper for my taste. The consistency was sort of chalky and not smooth enough for me. The pork cracklins were good, but the ones that weren’t crisp(maybe half) were too chewy and I didn’t like them. Julian Burger — I thought this would be packed with flavor! It is a beef burger with red onion & Julian cherry bomb cider marmalade, avocado, white cheddar and jalapeño aioli. Unfortunately, it was really lacking in the flavor department and pretty bland. The burger was quite juicy though. Macaroni Salad — I got this as my side and it was really good. They give you a very large portion too, I couldn’t finish all of it. Wild Boar Burger — Awesome! He ordered this and we both loved it. I’d never had wild boar before, and now I know I would order it again if I ever see it on a menu. His burger was simple, not too many ingredients, but the flavor of the meat was good enough it didn’t need much. He got fries with his burger and they were good. Beer — I am not really into beer but he was in heaven. They do have a massive beer menu, so if you are a beer lover, check this place out! When we were done eating he asked me if I would come back. No, I would not drive all the way to SD just to have lunch here again. If I lived near it, I would go back, but it wasn’t worth over three hours in the car round trip.
