Are these the same Second Sunday Parties which started in 1999 when Norm dropped another version of this on a recording from the event? I heard that shit bumping the streets of SF all summer long and still gets me off today ;) If so, I want to write a book about that summer and would love your help! Anyone know what I am talking about?! Please. Queen Agnes Bee? Pre Mushroom Jazz Mark Farnia, John Howard, 6 am Saturday morning End Up… Tell me you were fucking there! It was the tip of the tit of the teat of the international house music scene and we were milkin too phat to last… 30 years after the Summer of Love we had our own!

What is 2nd Sunday? Where is this club? What kind of music do they play? Straight off the bat… DAYPARTY! Held inside of Kelly’s Mission Rock. Yes I said that right! A better view during the day than in the evening. They play house, electro and trance music ALL afternoon and evening! This event happens ONLY during the summer, every 2nd Sunday beginning June through October. The most busiest event is June since they kick off the party with a BANG! Skip the park, wine and dining at a restaurant or shopping around the town. Check it out for yourself! I used to like 2nd Sunday years before, but it got too hyped up overtime that the crowd control gets really hectic. Long lines for entrance and bathroom. Waiting to order a drink can be a hassle. BUT… the experience is exceptionally crazy and FUN! Ladies glammin’ it up in their summer attire and gentlemen wearing nothing but white beater or muscled shirts in wonderful degree weather looking fabulous in the sun! Wearing stunna shades is NOT an option… gotta look fly all the time! Diverse crowd and plenty of people getting their groove on. My only gripe is the ticket price if you don’t get there on time. You end up paying $ 30 for cover! Buy pre-sale tickets in advance which is only $ 12 – 15. AND… they do offer ins and outs until a certain time. If you come early before 4pm and get stamped, you can leave, eat or car bar somewhere nearby, come back before 7pm… you’re good to go! In my words of widsom, «let’s do this! gotta get down with it! gotta get down!»

I know its been a while since my last review, but I haven’t been anywhere worth Unilocaling lol till this past Sunday. For those of you who don’t know what 2nd Sunday is? a day party outside the docks of Kelly’s Mission Rock. This event only happens during the months of summer, every second Sunday. Upon arrival, flash backs came to mind about the last time I was a patron here. which was so 12years ago! yes I’m that old Lol After all the hype my experience was so FUN!!! Women wearing nothing but summer dresses or dazzy dukes-Men wearing white tee’s/ white beater/shirtless muscle/buff men in shorts-weather fabulous /sunny next to the water-party starts from 12p-12a– 3 Sections to get your groove on-plenty of alcohol and a diverse older crowd. My suggestions, buy pre-sale tickets in advance because cover at the door is $ 30.00. Pre-sale is only $ 12.00, if you can’t get down with house/electro/techno music then this is not the place for you, but once you start drinking it won’t even matter =P Every day I’m shuffling…

Now this is where things get tricky. Either it’s gonna be the best time of your life, or you’re gonna wonder why you paid to get in. The first time I went, which was the season opener this year, I had one of the best times of my life. As for the one in July, definitely wasn’t feeling it. The crowd lacked those feel good vibes, and the bars specials didn’t even have a whole shot in them. So I’d have to say trust your gut when thinking about attending, because it’s either yay or nay, but never the same.

I have only been to one Second Sunday ever, so I may not be the best reviewer, but I did have a pretty good experience and a lot of fun! I may be a little biased though because I usually love anywhere that plays good house music. PROs: great house music and big name DJs, on the water, great daytime party that goes on until midnight. CONs: if you are on the guestlist it is a HUGE line that literally does NOT move, we gave up on the guestlist line and decided to pay a $ 20 or $ 30 cover to get out of the slowest moving line in the world. Also, the bathrooms are gross and huge lines to those as well and guess what… huge lines to the bar too. Other things to note, I have heard that the first and last Second Sunday are the best, I went on the first one last summer so maybe that’s why I thought it was great??? Who knows, but I say don’t knock it til you try it…

I have held off on going to 2nd Sunday for the longest time due to mixed reviews. I had such a great time! I’m sad that I waited so long to go! First off, they lost a star because of the 2 entrances that don’t clearly state anything,(VIP/prepaid/etc). I also found it strange that *will call* is located far from the entrances and you will not know this until you go through the other 2 lines first. I am happy that I bought a ticket for $ 15 a few hours before I got there since it’s $ 30 at the door. Whew! So thank you *elisa j* for letting us know this info! OK, all my friends know I love house music & I think they just tolerate my taste in music, so I took this trip solo. This place has a great vibe, the people were nice, no attitude, no snotty stares, and the people I spoke with were all really cool. I danced for hours until my feet hurt! Perhaps I was there early enough where everyone wasn’t coming down from their *e* or sloppy drunk. I shouldn’t have waited so long to go! Good times, great DJs, beautiful views, very open floor plan. Hurray!

This club is really ghetto. The quality of women in poor and most of them are under 21(this is an 18 and over club). They only play rap and hip-hop. No pop or rock. The better dance floor is on the second floor, which is hard to get to after 11. Bottom line is you should avoid this club if possible.

I love the music they play there! HOUSE! Went last Sunday, Doc martin and Dj Dan were headling. I went with 3 people around 3:40 to beat the cut off time for the discount guestlist. $ 30 after 4pm! Made it in and walked around for a bit. Waited on for 6 more people, 3 different groups of friends. Its was there first time at 2nd Sunday. They loved it! I met and networked with a lot of cool people. No major/looking d-bags, no drama, good music, good looking ppl, drinks are reasonable and in and out privileges! Fun times at Mission Rock. Plus you get an awesome view of the bay. Next month!

2 stars only because the music is great However, this was my 1st2nd Sunday and sadly it will be my last. The people here don’t appreciate the music at all. It’s all about being seen here and what you’re wearing and who you’re with… No thanks! What a shame because I used to hear great things about this party. I’m going to have to agree with another guy on here. I’ll only be attending Sunset Parties and Dirtybird parties.

Not my cup of tea — a lot of people there to be seen, and not to appreciate the talent. Great location, great music… just not fond of agendas other than to experience the great music, talent and true fans.

Another year, another unwanted trip to 2nd Sunday. Om Records asked for help, Chuck Love was spinning. I decided to take one for the team. What was not unexpected: As I was working the Om booth selling merchandise, I was approached by a very, very drunk guy wanted to buy a shirt. $ 5 please. It takes him a few minutes to slowly pull a few bucks out of his pocket as he sways from side to side and gives off that«I might throw up» vibe. $ 3 lands on the table. I tell him that is not enough. He then takes his iPhone out and types out $ 5 and tries to «beam» it at me. No dice. He throws his gum on a shirt. Not cool. His girlfriend shows up holding a massive Fosters and begging for a shirt. He proceeds to fondle her while searching for more money. I point out she has money stuffed right in the middle of bra. $ 2 more found. They wander off. I vow to never return.

I’ve been to a few 1st& last 2nd Sundays in the past(and luckily on the guest list; $ 30 is TOO much to spend more than once for that event) but not in the past few years. The Dirtybirds In The Park(Golden Gate) usually falls on the same day but is ALWAYSFREE and have been so much better to attend(and I’ve been to plenty of events throughout the Bay Area in the past 10+ years). They not only have a happier vibe that’s more fun than 2nd Sunday, they always have surprise international guest DJs. So, unless you enjoy being surrounded«guidos & guidettes»(check ), amateur party-goers(e.g. those that can’t handle whatever«poison» they’re on) and, basically, A LOT of people with rampant attitudes, I suggest only attending the 1st& last 2nd Sundays.

The line was okay, well, there was no line at all when we arrived. 5DJ’s, Various music, Parking=Walking, drinks were a little weak, the one thing I enjoyed the most when I had the munchies was the sliders!

Almost got into a fucking throw-down with a jerk here… WTF? Okay, if you know me, you would know that I am a teeny tiny little girl who rarely ever causes trouble anywhere she goes – ESPECIALLY physical trouble. I’m usually able to work through any confrontation diplomatically. I can’t even remember the last time I got into a heated argument with a stranger… …that is, until I came to 2nd Sunday. What the hell is with some of the douchebags that come to this party? Music was good but you really have to be looking for a fight to find one with me – and you have to be pushing pretty damn hard to get one. You’re going to have to twist my arm and wave a giant shiny carrot in front of my face to get me to come back to this party. Bummer.

Love 2ndSundays! This is by far my favorite club event that goes on every Summer. This past year has been one of my favorites for a couple reasons. — They really had the décor going on this year — new setups giving the crowd the most out of the DJs — extended hours — 12pm-12am of great house music — the DJ program every month has a great amount of local talent and headliners It seems that the crowd has gotten a looot better over the past year or two. Never seen a fight, people are super nice, and the music is fantasic. The venue is HUGE! Upstairs, Downstairs, Inside, Outside, and also right on the water! I definitely recommend this event to anyone looking to have a great Sunday time with good people and good music! :)

Was invited back to another 2nd Sunday party by a promoter — went to the season finale with DJ Dan. Instead of coming around 3pm like last time and leaving when it got packed, I came around 8pm when there was no parking nearby nor standing room inside. I think maybe if I wasn’t hungover from the night before and came with friends who weren’t equally so either, I might’ve actually danced and possibly even had a lot of fun. It was entertaining to watch the breakers on the top floor and a smaller group near the entrance. I like the idea of the event — especially on a fairly warm night in the city. I think there is definitely a type of person who comes to these events, so don’t expect to be wowed by the clientele — definitely no decent looking guys, but probably some good looking and/or scantily dressed girls. I think I saw one or a few transsexuals(just worth mentioning, not good or bad from my perspective), the creepy guy with a parrot, and a pretty gigantic, incredibly drunk guy publicly molesting his equally drunk girlfriend from behind. Take away message: come here with friends, come here with friends who like(mainstream) house /electronic music, come here if you are not hungover and open to drinking(lots of) alcohol, but don’t come here expecting to meet anyone amazingly classy. Thanks Omar for the invite — it’s nice to know that promoters actually care if people have a good time at their events. I actually just might come to one of these events again — but maybe on a Sunday before a Monday in which I didn’t have work…

I haven’t gone in .hmm.two years now?! So this review is long overdue. I loved these day parties but two summers were enough for me. I didn’t really care much about the crowd. It was all about having a good time with my friends who are mostly dancers and djs. It was nice to come out to the City on Sundays and hang out, get off the hook and mash out in the cyphers. Share a sesh in the balcony upstairs. Yeah, all gravy. I love house music as the next person but the whole progressive hard house isn’t my steelo. For real. I’m more of a soulful, jazzy, deep, latin, afro-beat househead. Julius Papp, David Harness, Marques Wyatt, Louie Vega, Kaskade, Jay-J, Chuck Love, Patrick Wilson, Jayvi Velasco, Mark Farina have graced the decks at 2nd Sunday. Major OM artists have spun here. Thanks for the good times.
