I was referred to Dr. Chang by one of my doctors and it was a match made in heaven. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to be one her patients.
During our first consultation she was entirely professional and I quickly learned that she shared the same mentality as I did about taking care of one’s self. I have always led an active and healthy lifestyle, but being in my mid 50’s, I needed a little extra help to keep my figure top notch. We bonded over our like-​mindedness about self preservation and immediately knew we were a good fit for one another.
She’s an absolute artist with a knife, and even immediately post surgery I could tell it was the best work I’ve ever gotten done. I followed her every instruction in up keep and recovery and once I went back for my post-​op check up we were both extremely pleased with the results.
On top of her more than amazing professionalism, her staff is equally as amazing and could not have asked for better service from everyone.
I trust her completely, and will even be sending my daughter to her for any work she might be interested in.

After two kids and fluctuating weight for my whole life, I decided at 42 to explore abdominoplasty to repair my separated abdominals and remove excess fat and skin, and I added to the procedure some lipo on my hips. My expectations have been far exceeded, as my belly (now 6 weeks post surgery) is flatter than it has been in my whole life! I am looking forward to trying types of exercise (and clothes!) that I’ve never tried before. And the surgery and recovery was quite easy (but take the time off that Dr Chang recommends, and use arnica!). I feel like a reset button has been pressed on my attitude towards my body, and I have a belly that I am still not used to, but that I look forward to seeing in the morning! I am grateful for the professionalism and courtesy from Dr Chang and her support team. If I ever chose to get another procedure, I will come back!

Dr. Chang has an incredible reputation, and it is well-​deserved. My OB-​GYN recommended her, as did my dermatologist, nurses here and there, friends, acquaintances — if you ask around who is the best plastic surgeon, you will hear Dr. Chang’s name over and over again. I met with three different surgeons and was most impressed by Dr. Chang. It is fairly obvious from her resume that she is an excellent doctor, but she is also just a lovely, down-​to-​earth person, and I felt completely safe in her skilled and capable hands.
I did end up scheduling my breast reduction/​lift surgery with Dr. Chang 8 months ago, and I am so happy I did. The results are really amazing. It has been life-​changing for me in terms of being able to wear clothes I have never worn before, being able to run, and not feeling so self-​conscious about my body as I once did. I feel free!
Unexpectedly, I found the surgery and recovery to be MUCH easier and smoother than I expected, and I am certain that is because I was so well cared for by Dr. Chang. What I thought was going to be a big-​deal and weeks to recovery was really not a big deal at all!
Dr. Chang is incredibly skilled and her office staff is lovely and supportive. Seeing her and having this surgery was one of the best things I ever did for myself. Highly recommend!!!

It has been three years since my breast augmentation with Dr. Chang and I am still beside myself with the outcome of the surgery. Dr. Chang is amazing at what she does and has an amazing support staff. Even my husband loves coming along to my appointments so he can chat it up with the ladies. Dr. Chang not only makes you feel at ease when you walk into her office, but her and her team are always there to answer any questions or concerns. The most difficult part of my recovery was finding more movies to watch while I rested.

Following a c-​section delivery, my body did not bounce back. A friend recommended Dr. Chang. After a consultation we decided the way to go was a breast lift and tummy tuck. I am thrilled with the results. My stomach is so flat and my breasts are perky. The staff has been wonderful. There are several follow up appointments with the doctor to chart progress, which is reassuring. Dr. Chang is a very stylish woman and I knew her work would be tasteful and precise.

6 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 3B breast cancer. I elected to have a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. She was with me every step of the way. This wasn’t a planned part of my journey. But, she enabled me to feel in control of my choices and took exceptional care of me through the process.
Last year I was feeling the aging effects of chemo and tamoxifen and decided to have a lower face lift. It was just enough and not too much. People stop me and say how wonderful and ‘rested’ I look — which is exactly what I was after. It was the perfect reset.
Simply stated she has given me two of the greatest gifts in my life. I consider this team an extended family and hope I have some opportunity to someday repay them for their support and kindness.

Dr. Chang is hands down the best plastic surgeon in the bay area, if not California! I wanted to have a little work on my sagging neck and jowls and was very nervous about it. I had, for other reasons, been to two very famous surgeons, both in Los Angeles, and didn’t really have the best experience or outcomes. I was hesitant and feeling caution and unsure. I did my due diligent research and lined up 5 surgeons for consultations. Each surgeon showed me a photo or two of past patience who had similar surgeries. Then I came to consult with Dr. Chang and she showed me 15! I was impressed. She was the surgeon I felt comfortable with.
The best part is that Dr. Change is a perfectionist! She’s not trying to sell you or be your new best friend. She’s interested in making you look natural with no tall tell signs to give you away. A couple of weeks after my surgery, When I was getting out and about, my friends keep saying to me «Have you lost weight? You looks amazing! Maybe it the color of that scarf…» There wasn’t a giant obvious change, but I looked great. I felt great! After over year, when I went back for a check in with her, Dr. Chang was not satisfied with the scars behind my ears. Mind you, I could not see these scars and unless someone pulled my ear forward and my hair back, they wouldn’t have seen it either. But for Dr Chang, it was not good enough and with a short office visit, she went in and cleaned up the scars. What doctor check for and keeps making improvements two years later? Carolyn Chang does!
I cannot begin to express how happy I am with my results. In fact, I was so happy and feeling so good about myself that I became super motivated to lose a little weight and I did, 20 plus lbs! I was hoping to look a little better. I never imagine how life changing it ended up being. I was and continue to be THRILLED!
In addition, her office staff and nurses are wonderful. They couldn’t have been more sportive, friendly, sweet, and lovable.
You are in great hands!

Probably one of the best decisions I made for myself was deciding to see Dr. Chang. My only regret was that I waited so long to do so. You will not find a more qualified and extremely talented surgeon than Dr. Chang. Not only is she unbelievably gifted but her team is so welcoming and any fears you may have are put completely at ease.
The hardest part of my recovery had nothing to do with the surgery but figuring out how to comfortably elevate myself while sleeping. That is it!
My advice to anyone considering any form of cosmetic surgery, Call Dr. Chang’s office and make an appointment today… you will NOT regret it.

If I could give Dr. Chang 10 stars, I would! I am generally not the type of girl to even consider plastic surgery, and was very very reluctant to do this. But — after two children, and 2 years of strict diet and exercise, I still looked about 6 months pregnant.
Dr. Chang is calm, down to earth, and very easy to talk to. She was incredibly diplomatic in discussing my problem areas (my words, not hers), and ultimately, we agreed that a full abdominoplasty was the way to go. And while I was there, I opted for implants to give a little lift to my post-​breastfeeding breasts (again, my words, not hers).
Her entire staff was amazing. They answered the many questions I had, and were always happy to hear from me and talk me through whatever my issue of the day was. The process was seamless, and while I am known to be a wimpy patient, I can honestly say that everything went so smoothly that I would do it again.
I’m now 7 weeks out, and feel amazing. My clothes fit perfectly, and I no longer have a pregnant looking belly protruding through my clothes.
Amazing, amazing, amazing. Dr. Chang and her entire staff are top notch.

Five years since my surgery with Dr. Chang. And, ten stars are not enough to recommend Dr. Carolyn Chang as the best plastic surgeon, with sustainable results. She is truly the BEST!
I’m a Baby Boomer RN, and five years ago I was in need of a refreshed look for the competitive, young work-​place and my personal wellbeing. As a very selective consumer of health care, I did my research and determined that Dr. Carolyn Chang was the surgeon for me. Dr. Chang’s credentials and experience are unsurpassed. Dr. Chang is a highly trained, highly skilled surgeon, and artist.
I elected to have a Rhytidectomy (lower face lift) to remove my jowls, fat and refresh my look. Additionally, Dr. Chang did a Corrective Breast Augmentation to make my breasts more natural and more beautiful than ever.
Any plastic surgery should be considered carefully. Dr. Chang and her staff are very professional, caring and provide a safe and comfortable environment to ensure your needs are met. After five years of enjoying my results, I would still highly recommend Dr. Chang.

This woman changed my life and gave this mommy her bod back! If I can give her 10 stars I would. From the moment I went for my consult, she was the last of three, I knew immediately she was my pick. She heard me and I felt comfortable with her approach and work. I got a full TT with muscle repair. I am 4 weeks out and I couldn’t be happier. From literally the moment I awoke from anesthesia until now it has been hands down the best experience of me life. Yes, my life. I had a cesarian with my daughter, 2.5 years ago and the recovery was hell, no complications just a horrible experience. So I knew what to expect with a TT, cause a cesarian is much more invasive. Well I would have 10 tummy tucks again before I EVER have another cesarian. Hence the TT-​no more kids for me!

The next am, was «beautiful». Even she was like this is beautiful you have to look. It’s a perfect, straight, thin line. It looked great and my stomach was super small and flat. Better than before I had my daughter! I had zero pain, and again cause of the cesarian I already knew that getting In and out of bed would need assistance, which I had my hubby. I was of course taking my meds, which didn’t make me sick. I didn’t get sick at all. After discharge, I went to her office to change dressings. I saw her again 4 days later, by 1week, 1 drain was out – I’m a good patient. Rest, rest rest! By week 2, drain 2 was out. again, the scar is amazing and low! At 4 weeks, I can’t even imagine how great it will look once fully healed! She even went lower than my cesarian scar-‘which is now gone! Ya! It’s low. It’s clean. It’s beautiful! It really is!
Her staff has been amazing, she’s amazing.
Listen, there are a ton of surgeons, but there is only one dr. Chang. You want a mommy makeover you go to her. She’s known for making women look and feel beautiful again like they once did before children ruined their body!
This is a major surgery, this is a large scar-​hip to hip for most. You have to make the right choice. This is your body and life, and if your a mom like me, well you Gotta be around for your kids. My boob lady actually worked with dr Chang, back than-she’s now retired, was a Woman. I didn’t get boobs done this time, as I had that surgery in 2007, before baby and they still look great! Here’s my personal opinion. I trust women docs. They know us, they know what we feel when we look in the mirror and only they know the pain of feeling ugly or having body image issues. Women know women. Men don’t. Men know through textbook. So they have no clue. I’ve had two cosmetic surgeries with women and even my cesarian, (my Gyno) was a woman. Told you I like my women docs. I couldn’t be happier. Stick to a woman, and this ones your gal! i I

I spent time researching physicians and felt the most comfortable with Dr. Chang and her staff. Dr. Chang is a perfectionist and spends time to discuss all aspects and ensure that you understand the process. The results are natural and have added to positive life changes. Her staff, especially, Nikoo and Jerry, are responsive and friendly. Nikoo was my advocate when I was having some issues with the hospital pre-​surgery procedures. She provided help to me and my family who had questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Chang and her staff to anyone considering this type of surgery.

Pros: Dr. Chang gives excellent, natural-​looking cosmetic results. A fine surgeon.
Cons: initial series of appointments were rescheduled at least once and often twice. Following my surgery, the nurses had a question about a possible drug interaction and despite paging Dr. Chang multiple times, were never able to reach her, which is substandard care.
Dr. Chang was at least 30 minutes late and often far later for each post op follow-​up visit. She insists her patients use particular types of skin cream post surgery and she charges more than twice the price for the same lotions as Amazon does. (She does not mention the need for these until the first post op visit, so it’s not possible to save money and purchase them in advance). The nurse she insists you retain for post-​surgery overnight care does absolutely nothing and is an expensive waste.
All in all, a good result, but a bad experience. There are a number of highly-​skilled surgeons in San Francisco who provide similar results with much better client-​focused care. I’d choose a different doctor next time.

To say Dr. Carolyn Chang is both a phenomenal surgeon and remarkable woman would be an understatement. Dr. Chang is an incredible doctor who consistently changes lives in a very beautiful way. Providing nothing but exceptional work and with the warmest regards, she and her team are the best there is.

When you start looking for a Plastic Surgeon, you will get a lot of recommendations. In my case, I decided to have consults with three surgeons in San Francisco and one in Palo Alto. I wanted a neck and face lift and a re-​do on a poor neck procedure that left me with scarring. The first doctor I met with suggested a chin implant. After I said no, it still showed up on the estimate. That immediately took him off the list. The next two consults went well, but I felt pressured and still wasn’t feeling a connection. My last consult was with Dr. Carolyn Chang. My husband and I spent about an hour talking with her. She is extremely professional and very confident in what she feels she can do surgically. She is very clear on what she feels will be an enhancement and what she feels is not necessary. We knew immediately she was the surgeon I would choose. I signed up before leaving the office.
I am 7 weeks past surgery and I could not be happier. She delivered on everything we discussed. The results are amazing. Her staff is friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The hospital was wonderful and the overnight nurse was a perfect match. All of my follow-​up visits with Dr. Chang and her staff have been professional and easy to schedule. All in all, my experience has been a 10 and I have not hesitated to refer her to friends. My 30 year old children were very anxious about me looking done, or not the same in a bad way. They all agree I look better, younger and just like a younger version of myself. They can be my harshest critics!
Dr. Chang’s pre-​op and post-​op instructions are very thorough and I believe this led to the best outcome possible. I am positive I made the right choice and that she should be included on your consult list for face or body surgery.

Before I begin, let me say that I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about Dr. Chang and everyone in her office. I had been contemplating plastic surgery for months (I was 22 at the time, and extremely self-​conscious of my chest) and when I finally decided to begin my search for plastic surgeons I was referred to Dr. Chang by my mother’s friend. My mother’s friend (who is incidentally a nurse for another plastic surgeon I might add) went so far as to say, «the plastic surgeons I work for are great, but if you want the ABSOLUTE BEST then go to Dr. Carolyn Chang.» After her recommendation, I booked my consultation with Dr. Chang and have not regretted my decision from the moment I stepped into her office.
Her staff is amazing; professional, sweet, and extremely helpful. They made the entire process very smooth and eased my worries. Within 5 minutes of meeting Dr. Chang I knew that she was the plastic surgeon for me. She is a very professional and honest woman and I have a great amount of respect for her. Her recommendations and philosophy aligned with my needs and wants, so much so that I booked my surgery the same day.
Needless to say, the surgery went perfectly (as expected). Absolutely no complications and beautiful results. It has now been almost 6 months since my breast augmentation and I could not be happier. I feel more confident and am proud of my body. I have never once regretted my decision and am so thankful that I had such a great plastic surgeon.

I was referred to Dr. Chang by a friend of mine who was patient of hers. Because the procedure I wanted done was an elective one I was very indecisive if I wanted to go through with it. However, after meeting Dr. Chang and her staff I was very confident that I wanted to go through with the procedure. The staffs and Dr. Chang made me felt so comfortable and I was extremely please with Dr. Chang’s emphasis on making my body look «natural». After I booked my procedure with Dr. Chang the staffs made sure I knew that I can call /​see them and Dr. Chang anytime prior to the procedure if I have any questions or concerns. I ended up making a last minute change prior to my surgery (less than a week prior) and Dr. Chang and her staffs were so accommodating to the change and did not make me feel bad at all. It was obvious that providing excellent customer service was their #1 goal.
Now more than a year after my surgery I can say I’ve never once regretted having it done and I am extremely happy with the results. She delivered beautiful natural looking results and I can’t be happier. Even though it’s been a year she still encourages me to see her annually for check ups and they are always there to help/​answer any questions concerns I may have.
I highly recommend anyone looking into possibly having plastic surgery done to consult with Dr. Chang. I live in the south bay but driving there for Dr. Chang was totally worth it. She is definitely the best plastic surgeon in the bay area.

Research pays off. I am only two weeks post Facelift and Browlift surgery with Dr. Chang and I am already thrilled with my result. I look very natural, like myself but refreshed. Friends have commented that I already look almost 10 years younger!!! I am still a little swollen with some minimal bruising left but this is easily camouflaged with make-​up.
I had been considering a Facelift and Browlift for several years, did a lot of research and over time had met with two other San Francisco plastic surgeons but never felt completely comfortable until my consultation with Dr. Chang. I was referred to her through two of my friends who had facelifts with her, they both looked very natural and not «done».
Her staff is extremely professional and friendly, the office is very chic, modern and immaculate and I immediately felt comfortable during my meeting with her. She seemed meticulous and detailed and took time to explain all of the options to me. She also gave me a realistic assessment of what this type of surgery would do for me.
I am extremely pleased with my results and highly recommend Dr. Chang, she is an outstanding surgeon.

My experience with Dr. Chang has been absolutely superb. I recently underwent a breast augmentation surgery. I am 40 years old, extremely athletic, and a mother of two beautiful girls.
I was very hesitant about my pending decision before meeting Dr. Chang. After my initial consultation, I was more than convinced that I was in very good hands. Dr. Chang is kind, patient, informative, and personable. She and her staff spent the necessary amount of time with me and my husband to go over my questions and reassure my fears. Her staff called to follow up with me and has continued open lines of communication throughout this process.
It’s been 8 weeks since my surgery and I am so impressed with the results. I couldn’t look or feel more natural. I feel beautiful, smart, and healthy since my augmentation. I am back training for another marathon, and as comfortable as ever running and training.

Dr. Chang’s work was exceptional. I have no buyer’s remorse and am very happy with the results. Both her pre-​op and post-​operative care was appropriate. Her answers to questions, even the naïve ones, are clear. Her nursing staff and office staff are very helpful and friendly as well. I give her 4 stars and not 5, simply b/​c of the fact that I have no one to compare her with, but overall, I am very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend her.
AND, 7 years later and things are still looking great!
