Nothing special about the milk tea here nor is it better than any other places. However, customer service is bad here, at least for the cashier who was raising her voice and rushing us with orders. She evenly asked to keep my change of $.74 cents when I gave her a five dollar bill.

I think I may need to visit this place a few more times and try some other flavors before I can make a final verdict, but my first impression of this bubble tea shop is that it is a pretty standard option. I got a regular matcha milk tea with boba and half sugar, but it was still a bit too sweet for what I like from matcha milk tea. The boba was small, but chewy and not too soft. They have two sizes, a regular and large, which is really just large and larger. My drink was $ 4.91 after tax, which is a bit on the expensive side, and though there was quantity, there wasn’t quite the quality I would’ve liked! On the bright side, there wasn’t a line at 6PM on a Sunday and the tea came out very quickly.

This is my go to place when I’m craving some boba milk tea late at night. It’s also rather cool to hit Chinatown when it’s dark and quiet. The beverages are solid, well priced and they offer a large size that is insanely large.

After having lunch from Spicy King across the street, I was excited to come here. I rarely come to Chinatown so I want to take advantage getting boba while here. I ordered their popular drink which was the roasted milk tea with grass jelly and no sweet. I loved how it really was not sweet but I can still taste the flavors. It was a bit milky to me but oh well. Husband got the mango iced tea and whoa that was strong.

I stopped by here a couple of days ago after work. My friend has been raving about this place so I thought I’d give it a try. This please was in an alley but still visible if you were walking up clay street. Anyways, I walk in and it wasn’t too much of a line. I ordered a black milk tea with boba and a passion fruit with lychee jelly. I couldn’t decide what I felt like so I just got both… at the very least I could save one for the next day. First off, can I say that I am a boba drink fanatic? Though my reviews won’t show it BUT I do visit a lot of boba places and literally get a drink every other day if not everyday! So this place is not that impressive… the black milk tea was practically all milk. There’s like a tease of a flavor of tea but it is not apparent at all. Actually, that hint of flavor repulses me. I couldn’t even finish the drink! The boba was small and I wasn’t sure if they are the kind of establishment that sells 2 sizes but if they did, i wanted the BIGGERBALLS!(teehee). So definitely not impressed with this drink. Not much better with my 2nd drink. Passion Tea I know if already a sweet drink but this was overly sweet and no tea mixed in at all!!! The lychee jelly is standard so no complaints there, For a Cool TEA bar… there’s is definitely a lack of tea in all their drinks. I definitely won’t be coming back to this place anytime soon… sorry but not sorry!

Meh. Nice service decent options. I went for a Kumquat green tea. Was refreshing and not super sweet(went for the 50% option) but with the $ 4 price tag on a small I think there are some better options in the area.

Grass jelly roasted milk tea with 30% sugar is very good. The only thing is the lack of grass jelly.

It was a hot day of eating dumplings while walking in the hot May sun. We got thirsty and low and behold Unilocal mentioned this place nearby. Good find. The location is small, but their drink sizes make up for that. The Milk Tea boba was pretty good. They let you choose the amount of sugar you want added. The service is quick and cordial. I’ve tried several boba places in San Francisco, and for the price, size, and convenience, this place is good. They have places to plug your phone and it’s convenient location to other good food places is a plus. But then again there’s plenty of good spots around there. It comes down to it’s good boba at a good price in a place with tons of competition and others places with lengthy waits. It can compete with them. Either way, check it out. It’s good.

2.5STARS Wanted a tea, so I decided to stop by Cool Tea Bar on Wednesday, May 11th around 1:30pm. I was actually craving a black tea with boba and grass jelly, but I guess Cool Tea only does milk teas? I had no idea, but I walked all the way from downtown for a tea, so I just ordered a Pearl milk tea with grass jelly, no sugar($ 4.91 total with tax). It was way too milky for me, but the sweetness was right. I’m kinda bummed to find out they have all their teas premixed. At least that’s what I’m thinking as that can be the only reason why they can’t just do a plain black tea. Okay place to grab a milk tea, but if you want black tea without milk, go elsewhere as they don’t have that here.

I got the roast milk tea. The tea itself was absolutely delicious, but the boba tasted old. I would still come back though!

Good portions, reasonable price, good quality boba, quick service and a great location in the middle of Chinatown — what more can you ask for! I’m glad my friend told me about this place. She told me have you been to a cool tea bar, and said yes, I’ve been to a cool tea bar before — but I didn’t know she was talking about The Cool Tea Bar! Well, now I know better and will know to stop by next time I’m in the area.

Pro tip: the large is really big! I didn’t realize that when I ordered The selection isn’t huge but service was fast and attentive. Free wifi also which is a plus. The place was in Chinatown and I was able to sit down and figure out where to go next from here.

Cool Tea Bar is a nice little café for bubble tea that is actually within Chinatown. There are so many in the area, but they all tend to be on the outskirts of Chinatown either on Kearny or on Powell. This makes Cool Tea Bar a convenient choice when walking around within Chinatown! The workers here are really nice and do a good job with implementing their sweetness levels. I usually find 50% sweetness at other boba places still too sweet, but this place got it just right! I tried the matcha milk tea here and it was as solid as it would be at other places nearby. There’s also some nice seating here and wifi as well which is a plus.

I’m not sure why they closed down their other stores but at least the tea hasn’t changed. They make a lot of the tea at the beginning of the day and have them in coolers that they kind of just keep on the counter to dispense from. I love the fact that you have so many options for«toppings» like boba pearls and grass jelly. The boba is not as chewy as I’d prefer, but they’re not overly sweet either. You can also choose the level of sweetness and I think 50% is just perfect. At this point, you’re not overwhelmed by sugar and instead the tea flavors just seem to come out stronger. I’ve had the taro, roasted oolong, and red bean. The first two were great but the red bean was just milk tea with some whole red bean inside with the boba. I wish they had blended them in or something because I ended up drinking all the tea and had weird clumps of red bean and boba left over. Overall, great spot! Just need to try out more of their flavors.

I was craving for boba one day during lunch at work and so was my friend who worked nearby me. Apparently, the other two Cool Tea Bar locations that were closer to us closed down recently and I’m not sure why. We wanted something good, so we made the effort to walk a little further to come to this location’s Cool Tea Bar. It is located in an alley parallel to Grant street and Stockton street so it is convenient at the Heart of Chinatown. I ordered their #1 special which was the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with Grass Jelly. The tea tastes fresh and smooth and the grass jelly tastes sweet and herby. My sweetness level was less than half sweet which was perfect since I don’t like my tea overly sweet.

I am very picky when it comes to tea and boba, and I was pleasantly surprised to find this place in Chinatown. Bf and I were honestly not expecting much, as there were no big name tea places nor were there any places with tons of reviews, but it was close by so we gave it a shot. The girls there had a bit of a language barrier, but once I spoke their language(cantonese), it was much easier to explain how we wanted our drinks and to get our order right. Their large cups are a whopping 32oz! Not to mention the tea was very tasty and had fresh fruit – I got lemon, and I think bf got grapefruit or something. Both teas were very refreshing and lasted us forever(okay just me forever, bf drinks his liquids fast). I would definitely come here again if we are in the area… what a nice hidden spot!

Went after seeing all the reviews and having the usual boba craving I got the plain milk tea with boba with 75% sugar but i kind of wish i got it less sweet since i still found that amount to be quite sweet I love that you can customize the sweetness though and the milk tea itself was pretty good ~

Awesome place to get your Boba fix while walking around Chinatown! I was pleasantly surprised with how good they were! I ordered a large Almond Milk Tea with Boba. Price was about $ 3 and some change. My boyfriend ordered a drink as well(I can’t quite remember what he got though). They do offer a wide selection to choose from regarding tea flavors. You can also pick how much sweetness you want as well(I got 30% which was perfect for me). We were the only ones there when we ordered, so our drinks came out in a few minutes. Not sure how fast or slow they are when they are more busy. Employees here were helpful and nice, but spoke little English, which is fine. Both my boyfriend and I loved our tea and finished them off! Cool Tea Bar has a cute bar area you can sit at while drinking your tea that overlooks the street. Very warm and inviting! I enjoyed the setting here too. I would come back here! Cheers!
