Good food and coffee but awful service. Within the same week, I’ve waited 10 – 15 minutes for either my coffee or my breakfast sandwich. The coffee shop was not overwhelmingly busy when I was there. I can understand the customer rush and trying to get orders done but in general, the staff seem to lack full attention to their orders and you always have to remind them what you just told them. I’ve had a history of receiving wrong sandwiches or even lack of a full sandwich. I just ask that staff make an effort to really pay attention. If the sandwich you serve doesn’t even look like a $ 5.95 worth sandwich(no eggs, no lettuce, or no meat), please take the customer into consideration.

Get a big house brew, relax and enjoy the present. Friendly, fast, and just what coffee addicts crave. Sit inside or out, in the. sun or shade. Strike up a conversation with a kindred coffee spirit stranger or not. Passers-by viewing is good. Could be a café in Paris. I just ordered a second biggest cup. Why not? Life is good.

I am deeply disappointed that I feel the need to write this review because up until this point, the few times I’ve been here(considering I live within a block) I’ve never been let down until today. I could’ve just had one negative experience but I’m sharing it regardless. My friend went to go pick up two Thai Iced Teas for her and I like we have from there in the past, and when she returned with the drinks, something was super off about the flavor and it tasted super sour. So I walked back with her to talk to the workers here and explained what happened but they insisted what they made was Thai Tea. I tried explaining to the young woman how we have had their Thai Tea before multiple times and never had it tasted this way, besides the fact that we get Thai Tea from other places and I brew my own about every other week at home. She tried saying how they don’t make it traditionally and that they don’t use condensed milk… But how else do you make tea… You brew it and add sugar, besides the fact that I don’t use condensed milk in my own and it tastes the same as every other Thai tea. She made some and tried it and still claimed it tasted fine, and refused to understand what I was saying and refused to believe it was something on their end. No refund or no offer for a different drink or remake was offered which is what upsets me the most because that’s just poor costumer service. I’ve been waitressing for 5 years, and that situation was not handled correctly. My friend and I threw our teas away and walked out and don’t plan on returning.

Great cup of coffee! The breakfast sandwiches are awesome(Sausage is the best), free Wifi, cheapish beer, and a cool environment to get work done or just hang out. Bunch of neighborhood characters everywhere and it’s just great. Joe the owner and his dog seem cool and I’m slowly becoming a regular. — PS: Rahel and Celsea are the absolute best baristas in town.

Reminds me of the old school SF coffee house – just a little cleaner with better coffee. Love this place!

Gotta love this place for it’s good coffee and casual setting. I live right down the street and I’m finding myself becoming a regular. It generally gets busy around 5−6pm(a time I usually try to get some evening side work in) so you best be comfortable cozying up next to some of the other patrons if you’re looking for some table real estate. The food is good as well. I’ll go on a limb and say I’ve found their selection to be more«snack» than«meal», but I honestly don’t expect anything of that sort from a coffee shop.

GROSS! The barista was petting two dogs on the front side of the counter when I walked in, she proceeded to go around the counter, take my order, and pick up my bagel WITHHERBAREHANDS. NOWASHING. I was in shock. I tossed the bagel. I then saw her loading the bakery case with ham/egg croissant sandwiches again WITHHERBAREHANDS. NEVERWASHEDTHEM. I’ve gone here for a year, but NEVERAGAIN.

I almost hate to give this place a good review because I don’t want it to be full of people when I return. From my writer’s perspective, and from my love of the perfect cappuccino perspective, this is the best place in San Francisco. Long high tables with stools let you write sitting and/or standing. Electrical outlets everywhere. Super nice staff. Cappuccino that rocks with flavor. Good bathroom. FASTWI-FIWITHNOLOGIN. Incredible people watching on the corner of Sutter and Leavenworth through big clean windows. And after a day of excellent writing(if you can’t write here, you probably shouldn’t be writing), they have a variety of high quality beers on tap for $ 4 a beer. Seriously, i’m wondering if I have died and gone to heaven.

1st time here and everything is great! From my almond mocha to my banana bread to the STAFF! They have great attitudes and the place is defiantly presentable. It has wifi and no password needed. They also have happy hour here from 3 to 10pm. It’s pretty awesome that they also have beer on tap. Defiantly coming here more often to study, since it’s not that loud.

Came in here after a delicious meal from Han’s. Most restaurants that have«Coffee Shop» in the name tend to have coffee that isn’t very good, so we hopped over here in hopes of having some quality caffeine. I personally wanted an iced beverage since it was so hot at Han’s. The baristas were nice enough, but our orders were wrong at first. I got an iced chai and the boyfriend got a mocha. They made mine all right, but the mocha was not a mocha and was totally not what he ordered — no one else had ordered before or after us, either, and it was weird considering she asked him directly what he wanted. But that’s okay — that stuff happens. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves were not very good. My iced chai was extremely watered down, and apparently the coffee was so burnt and poorly made that the boyfriend tossed it out. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the coffee was extremely unpleasant to even taste when I asked to try it. Overall, not worth the price, and we won’t be coming back.

Hahahaha my second home! I love the baristas and i love the doggies and all my neighbors who also come to chill here. This is one of the few cafes in SF that isn’t bougie and has a neighborhood feel. So many students and neighbors to run into. You will probably make friends with all the puppies that are regulars here, too. I especially love the happy hour and the community tables bc we’ve hogged one of those babies up on numerous occasions for study groups and the workers are super helpful, cheerful and accommodating. One love!

Unpleasant servers who either lie about what they think«fresh squeezed» means or have no idea. The manager was there, and while pleasant, did not seem to know that«squeezed from fresh oranges and pasteurized» is not the same and so shouldn’t cost the same. THEORANGEJUICEISNOTFRESHSQUEEZED. P.S. They do have almond milk and fast-ish wifi.

What’s not to love about a neighborhood joint that offers lots of breakfast options in addition to the usual coffee drinks? AND they have a bunch of local brews available on tap. I stopped by with my sister on the morning of the SF Pride parade. We wanted to get a quick bite to eat that could be packed up easily for later during the parade. Their freshly made breakfast sandwiches hit the spot. She really enjoyed her sausage breakfast sandwich on biscuit and I loved my Croque Madame when I devoured it later before we marched. We also grabbed a freshly squeezed and chilled OJ to go. I’ll definitely stop by this place again the next time I’m in the areas.

Cup of Joe used to have that quintessential SF coffeehouse vibe, until the new owners* tore the place apart — painted the walls white, and put up white subway tile. It still looks half way done. The ladies behind the counter didn’t seem to get along with each other, and certainly weren’t friendly to me. They were out of spinach, which they discovered after they(probably) charged me extra for it(I didn’t get a receipt). The coffee is fine. My bagel sandwich was mediocre. I still like all the open windows, and I still DON’T like the cigarette smoke. Maybe I’ll try them again in a year, if they’re still open. We’ll see… *I’ve since been informed that Joe still owns this place.

I am really particular about the coffee shops I hang out at, but I think I found one that I really enjoy. I like when people look remotely happy when they are working, and at cup a joe they seemed happy to help. A lot of coffee shops in the Bay Area have a snobby vibe, but I really enjoyed it. They have bagel sandwiches, and good iced coffee. I recommend coming here to read, work on homework, or just hang out and doodle like me. There is a lot of outdoor seating, and there are plenty of chairs inside. I’ll definitely be coming back.

All in all not a bad coffee house.(That was a bad fragment sentence.) It’s near the art school so you get a lot of those art kids. You know the type: colorful hair, mascara, thoughtless tattoos, piercings, a little body odor here and there, black clothing everywhere, boots, chains, whips, sex, drugs, rock n roll, and cigarettes. Damn these kids and their cigarettes. If it’s not mentally retarded dog owners with their dogs in this city, it’s those damn art kids and their damn cigarettes. Let me help you all out here. Smoking causes cancer. Dogs don’t speak English. What I love about San Francisco is that there’s so much to hate. Love to hate. Hate a bagel for breakfast. Hate a burrito for lunch. Hate some spaghetti for dinner. Hey. Forget about it. The baristas are nice here at the Cup a Joe. Whatever. They got a lot of spots to sit outside. It feels like a local place. Probably because it’s local and a lot of locals go there. I just solved that equation for you. I’m a math magician. Not a mathematician. Math magician. Friggin’ magic tricks with numbers. Rejoice. Praise God. Throw a little God in there. Why not. Forget about it. What goes best with coffee? The answer is beer. They serve beer here. They got it on tap. But they use those pint glasses that are actually only 12 ounces. Edinburgh Castle serves those 12 ounce pint glasses as well. Cuz, you know, it’s capitalism. Corporatism. Money is God. How can I shaft you more efficiently. Anyways, the beer is under $ 4 during happy hour. So that’s solid. I’ll give that a fist bump. Forget about it. Another useful review in the books. I’m on a roll. I’m hyped up on too much coffee from friggin’ Cup A Joe. Holla.

Ample seating indoors and outdoors, plenty of electrical outlets, good airflow through some large windows, open long hours, wifi is 4.72 mbps down/0.56 mbps up, prices are decent($ 6 for a sandwich). Not too shabby. $ 3 minimum for using your credit card though. I guess that’s how they try to keep prices low. The single bathroom is kept in quite clean condition but still maintains the grungy look on the walls that’s reminiscent of the loin. I don’t get why coffee shops in the lower haight will get five stars, but people give this coffee shop one star when there’s a bit of pot smell wafting in every now and then. What do you expect for SF?! On a Tuesday afternoon, this place had a very steady stream of traffic and seemed like a standard coffee shop for people to sit and work with their mac books or just chill and people watch(5 macbooks, 1PC counted). As a tea drinker, I like that they have about 5 – 6 different flavors of green tea. All the Mighty Leaf brand. Bonus: they sell bottled Fanta!
