I really enjoyed this place. Yes they replaced phở clement 2, but it was not a disappointment at all. They just opened late April and so far it’s pretty good and will most likely only get better as time goes by. Comparing this place to phở clement isn’t fair since they just started. Their portions were fair and the quality was really good. Here are my pros and cons Pros: the service was great. The food tastes fresh. The environment is very clean and new. Not dirty looking like many other places. And who I take was the owner of the restaurant was super nice and even made some jokes.(my mom ordered phở ga and he called her lady«gaga» lol) Cons: my only con is that phở here isn’t brought to you instantly like the other places do. My recommendation is don’t strongly compare this place to phở clement. But all this is a great restaurant.

Not sure when this place closed down but I stopped going here in August. Quite honestly, I got sick of the owner trying to remember everyone’s order without writing it down. Might look cool until he comes back and asks what you’d order. And when the food finally comes out, it’s nothing like you specified. I have to say though, the one on Irving is still one of my favorites and I’m glad it’s still there.

I am so happy that a new restaurant opened up in the Richmond district. The food here is yummy and inexpensive. During their grand opening they gave out free thai iced tea or iced coffee if you dined in. The main guy here is funny and loves to crack jokes with you. There’s usually no wait and I know they do delivery in the neighborhood. Try the pork, garlic noodles, and the imperial rolls. The pork is delicious!

We used to order delivery from the Irving location. However, never more since this location is only a couple blocks from our house. Not to mention, Perilla Geary has awesome Bill, the manager! My husband always orders the vermicelli w/shrimp and extra pork. I typically order the pork w/garlic noodles and we both nosh on the imperial rolls. We normally typically do take away, but have eaten there and the phở w/spicy beef is tasty, but I prefer their charbroiled meats. The five spice chicken is really yummy and crispy as are the shrimp spring rolls. We have also eaten at PPQ Dungeness Island, food their is yummy, but their service is super mehhh… they don’t have Bill. Speaking of the two, Perilla on Geary is supposed to expand their menu in the next couple of months similar to Dungeness Island, and amp up coffee offerings too. Hell yeah, an awesome menu and Bill and the rest of his staff… it don’t get much better than this.

I’ve been here at least 3 times before writing this review. The food is decent. It’s not completely authentic, but its okay. The only complaint I have is every time I request something like«no noodles», it comes with noodles. Everytime I say«no onions», my thing comes with onions… I wish they would be more attentive to my requests because if I was seriously allergic … we would have a serious issue. But luckily for them, I’m not. I’m just a picky customer who has needs! I come back though because like I said … the food is decent. Plus a girl’s gotta eat right?

I give this place 5 stars strictly for their garlic noodles. I don’t even LIVE in SF, actually I’m way the hell down in San Diego, but when I visit my good buddy up here… we pretty much just subsist on Modern Warfare 3, Phở, and Garlic Noodles… which the occasional raw oyster and beer/whiskey bingeing night out. At our age… with work and other«growns-up» responsibilities… video games and food are not overrated. But yes… try the garlic noodles… in pork, steak, chicken… I tried all three… they’re all tender, moist, and cooked well.

I’ve been here 3x in the past week. what does that say? haha. i was a little worried after reading all of my fellow Unilocalers’ reviews… from what it sounded like, i thought the noodles would be super dry and the serving size would be super small. BONK! wrong! i have ordered the garlic noodles with five spice chicken, the garlic noodles with pork, and the garlic noodles with chicken and imperial rolls. all 3 times, the noodle portioning was huge! they were buttery, garlicky, and delish… not dry whatsoever. the chicken and pork were both cooked well although the chicken tasted so much better… so next time, i’ll stick with the chicken. each dish is under $ 10…wifey ordered phở a couple of times. phở is not their forte here… but it’s not bad either. the broth is pretty bland… but the noodles and meat are plentiful. the condiments to add to the phở are also super fresh. the service has been great… they’ve been on top of things. i’ve never had to ask for refills or the check. oh, and they’re always smiling. for 2 of us, our meal cost around $ 18…except for the time we ordered the pork spring rolls. btw, those were freshly made and tasty also. glad i found a new go to spot. decent vietnamese food at a really good price!

RIP Phở Clement. I used to take my parents there all the time when they came into town. i was reluctant to try out Perilla, not gonna lie. However, I am impressed both by the upgraded décor(they have turtles!), the great food(GARLICNOODLESANDFIVESPICECHICKENFTW) and the still reasonable prices. The Phở Ga tastes my the one my momma makes, and it’s heart-warmingly delicious. Excited to take the folks here next time they’re in town!

YUM!!! Garlic noodles!!! I have gone to their Mission(SOMA) and Irving(Sunset) locations and is excited that they opened up a location near my office. Yay! Got my usual Five Spice Chicken with Garlic Noodles. Soooooo delish!!! Service was attentive… in fact, it was slow when we were there(only 1 other table… we got there before the dinner rush). They jumped at every movement we made… which to some might seem a bit weird, but my friend and I thought it was hilarious. For example, my friend turned slightly to look behind her cause I told her to look at the guy at the other table. And the waiter(owner??) immediately walked to our table to ask if he can help us with anything. We politely told him no and that she was just stretching since we didn’t want him to know that she was trying to check out the guy(and only other patron) that was sitting behind her. hehehe… Food was yummy but not surprising to me since I’ve frequented their other locations. Now that they are closer to my office, I will be dining here more often. Thanks PPQ/Perilla for opening a location near me so I can get my garlic noodle fix!

I am so glad that opened up another location and in the Richmond district of all areas! Went here with the hubby on a lunch break and ordered the our usual’s #27& #28, just as yummy as in the other locations(although the sunset one is still my fav.) The service was not too bad and the wait for food wasn’t very long at all. I love the grand opening special which is your choice of Thai Ice Tea or Vietnamese ice coffee, so we got one of each. The food is very reasonably priced at about $ 8 – 9 bucks a plate or $ 7 for phở. I really thought we got a lot of food for the money with 2 of giant imperial rolls cut up on three’s, a heaping portion of garlic noodles and while the hubby got a few pieces of grilled pork, mine had an entire five spice chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy. Can’t wait until the next time!

Perilla’s presence bolsters the weak array of restaurant options in middle Richmond. Perilla’s portions are noticeably smaller than its Irving counterpart — the heap of garlic noodles no longer blanket the chicken and the surface of the plate can actually be seen. The five spiced chicken still features abounding flavor and crispy skin, but the noodles lack the garlicky vibrancy present in each bite on Irving. The free with each meal Vietnamese coffee is delightfully potent, combining the dizzying strength of the brew with the condensed milk’s eye-glazing sweetness. If the coffee were bottomless, I would probably take up permanent residence in the restaurant. Despite failing to meet the expectations set by its big brother, Perilla remains a legitimate option in the area.

Yay! They just opened a Perilla on Geary! Babe and I came to Perilla for a quick lunch and a semi cold day. I got the 5 spice chicken phở and he ordered the vermicelli. My 5 spice chicken was cooked perfectly and had tons of flavor. They’re having a grand opening deal so take advantage! Free Thai Iced Tea or Vietnamese coffee. Babe and I had to have so we got one iced tea and one coffee. Their Vietnamese coffee is really potent and unfortunately they don’t give you the coffee strainer on top of the cup.

I work right around the corner from this Perilla and was excited when I saw they will be opening up shop here… little did i realized after my 1st meal here i am disappointed with the food. Now i’ve been to other Perilla before and love their garlic noodles, it was so buttery and garlicy that i order 2 orders of it. However, the garlic noodle at this location is lacking some tastes. The garlic noodle was way too buttery and not enough garlic to it. The service here is great, the servers are super friendly, chatty, and nice. Will i be back for lunch? properly not…

I had heard that the butter garlic noodles from Perilla were delicious, so I dragged a friend here for dinner this past Saturday. I ordered the garlic noodles with prawns and imperial rolls. The noodles were OK — my first time trying them. They had chunks of fresh garlic, and were definitely buttery. Worth the trip, though? Not so much. I don’t know what the buzz is about. The shrimps tasted like they’d been cooked to an inch of their lives and then left out for a few hours. And the imperial rolls were tiny, soggy, and bland. The service was good, however — very friendly and attentive. We even got Thai iced tea’s on the house per their grand opening, which definitely warmed me up to them to begin with. I hope that because they were just opened, that might explain some of the downfalls. But they have two other current locations, so you’d think they’d have gotten the formula down at this point. Oh well, probably won’t be back.

Perilla up in my hood! You don’t even know how happy inside I felt when I first saw the Perilla name sign up during construction. Yes, it is probably the best Vietnamese restaurant down Geary street that deep in the Richmond, hands down. Yes, they have spring rolls, imperial rolls, five spice chicken, vermicelli and garlic noodles. Btw, that’s all you need to remember to order and try. Yes, they accept credit cards. What else are you waiting for? P. S. Free Vietnamese coffee or thai iced tea with purchase of a meal during their Grand Opening(just saw the banner up!)

The food here is equal to that of the other Perillas-one in the financial district, and the other on Irving. I always get the five spice chicken with garlic noodles. Sometimes I get the combo which also comes with imperial rolls. I believe I have given the other two locations 5 stars. The reason why this particular location gets only 4 stars is because the wait for the food was fairly long. There was hardly any one else eating there too. I have to admit that parking is easier in the Richmond district compared to SOMA and Sunset. I do not understand why people get the phở here. Perilla is known for garlic noodles!!! What is even more weird is that I saw someone get steamed rice instead of noodles!

The food here was good for the value though nothing spectacular. We had the combo phở, garlic noodles and 5 spice chicken, and imperial roll apps — During the grand opening period, we got some free thai ice teas which was a plus. For the weekend, it was a bit quiet and the utensils provided were a bit dirty — and I had to have them replaced. The Garlic noodles were good — a lighter version compared to PPQ, but not bad. I really dont care much for them anyways. 5 spice chicken, came out hot w/crispy skin — pretty good I think Imperial rolls were good — crispy, hot and had ok stuffing of pork, shrimp, etc but on the smaller side Phở — solid phở, not too much MSG where I had a to drink a gallon of water. Its solid, but not amazing All for $ 24.95 — I think this would make a great date place personally, cant wait to show the ladies a good time here at Perilla, in the Richmond district… just make sure you wipe the table and utensils beforehand to remove the sticky residue.

My husband and I have been to the one in the Sunset so we were excited to have them closer to us in our neighborhood! We decided to have dinner here and it was pretty good. We started off with the grilled pork rolls which were really good! The meat was really flavorful. I got the five spice chicken garlic noodles. This was ok. I thought the garlic noodles could be more flavorful and the chicken was so greasy. The chicken could also be more flavorful. My husband got the imperial rolls and charbroiled pork garlic noodles. They did a really good job with the imperial rolls. It was a nice cheap dinner. Service was great. I’d go back for phở on a nice cold day for sure.

Came here because of all the raves of THE garlic noodles. Haven’t been to their other restaurants so I had no idea what to expect. Cheap, inexpensive dinner for sure. Garlic noodles were ok… I think I’ve had better. They were lightly colored and not the rich brown that comes with more seasoning… and they were only lightly buttered. I mean c’mon, if I want to splurge on buttery garlic noodle goodness, GIVEMEBUTTER! Make it worth the guilt! Charboiled pork chops were really good even though they were really thin for some reason. One random thought, what’s the deal with the veggie phở in beef broth?

Very friendly staff. My friends had the phở, and the lemongrass beef, imperial rolls with garlic noodles. I had the curry chicken rice vermicelli. The imperial rolls were tasty and perfectly fried. The garlic noodles were yummy, but the curry chicken was delicious. It was very very filling, the broth was so good and creamy. The other hot bonus is that they offer free delivery between 5−9pm. Made sure I picked up a menu on my way out.
