Better service than other cheap HK café places. CLEANER than most HK café places in SF. Food is really good, and really cheap(hello — $ 2.88 specials? I don’t know anyplace else for that price). We usually go for afternoon tea, or an early dinner and really fill up on about $ 20 for the whole family. What more could you want?

Great value for your money! Prince Café is great for lunch, and/or a mid-afternoon snack for their Happy Hour between 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Most of their happy hour items are all under $ 5.00. I was expecting to see narrowed down sized portions, but this wasn’t the case here. Everything is so completely reasonable. The bowl of won ton noodles for $ 2.88 hits the spot, and for that price, it’s hard to complain. It may lack flavor in the broth, but hell, if you aren’t satisfied, order something else for 3 bucks. The macaroni soup with ham for the same price is great on a cold day if you don’t want won ton or jook. I definitely prefer this place over many other Hong Kong/American style restaurants, as they have baked rice and cutlet items too. Dad and I got 2 rice places today for lunch, he had Mixed Seafood and bok choy over rice and I had Minced Beef with Egg over rice. The portions are huge, and for 6 bucks they even throw in a seaweed beef and veggie soup. Sauce for both plates was plentiful and flavorful. Pot Stickers are yummy here also. The dough is nice and chewy and stuffed pretty good with pork and veggies inside. They don’t over cook them, so it’s still very juicy after being pan fried. Service isn’t bad compared to other Chinese restaurants around… pretty typical. Overall, this place is great for a mid-day lunch. If you can hold your stomach until 3pm, definitely do so. For your money, Prince goes a long long way.

Let’s just get this out of the way: Yes, I eat chicken feet. And I don’t think it’s any worse than eating the BREAST of a chicken. It’s a dead chicken — why do you discriminate? Anyhoo, I wandered in here today as a distraction from all the things on my to-do list. I ordered the blackbean chicken feet and the beef chow fun off their afternoon tea menu. Afternoon tea in Hong Kong Café places mean smaller plates, but also significantly smaller prices. My bill — the two dishes plus a lemon ice tea(that was refreshing!) came out to seven dollars. 3 dollars each dish, plus a dollar for the ice tea. A lot of regulars come. I saw many tables of old folk who sat down without even looking at the waitress, and she brought them their food without even asking them. That, my dears, is what I call a weekly joint.

I’m giving Prince Café 3 stars; if my boyfriend had a say in this, he’d give it 4.5. The low prices definitely got my my boyfriend and I to go to this restaurant. It was right across the way from the post office, so we stopped there after waiting in a horrid long line to pick up a package. The prices were definitely the best part of the restaurant. It was one of those little Chinese joints that serves everything from steak, to Japanese food, to «duck kidney with tasty vegetables.» Their«happy hour» from 2:30 — 5:30 meant that a lot of dishes were $ 2.88. I ordered the Beef Chow Fun, which was incredibly bland but had incredibly great beef. After I doused the plate with soy sauce, it tasted much better. My boyfriend(this is why he’d give 4.5 stars) ordered the Broccoli Beef. Initially I criticized him for his choice because, really, who orders Broccoli Beef anywhere besides Panda Express? So basically I stood corrected; his was delicious. It had a very strong garlic flavor, which made it really savory. Plus, it was a generously sized portion with two lumps of rice. Our orders also came with a bland soup, which both of us abandoned for our main course. The meals also came with our choice of milk tea or coffee, and if we wanted to make the milk tea cold, we’d have to add $ 1. This basically seemed like a rip-off, so I was stuck with a mug of hot milk tea and sweetened condensed milk that had somehow congealed at the bottom. My boyfriend seemed to like his plain hot tea though and sat there for a few minutes trying to figure out what type of tea it was. I’m pretty sure he’ll be coming back, but I don’t think I’d eat here again, unless I was seriously strapped for cash.

When this place first opened, it was pretty good. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. However, since then, things have gone downhill. The quality of their food has always been mediocre, but the last few times I’ve been there, it has been just barely edible. Their portions totally shrunk. I understand with recession and all that things are more expensive. Their prices haven’t changed, but I’ll be damned if they think I won’t notice them reducing their portions so radically.

Friend dragged me here to «try something new». Guess he was right. It’s a new experience for me. I was expecting cheap asian style american food. Most of their dishes are asian stir-fry or clay pot type things. I wasn’t in the mood for that so I got a baked rice dish with some stuff and sauce on top. What I can say about this place? It’s cheap … I mean, dirt cheap. For less than $ 10, they include a soup, and warmed dinner roll. Oh … one tip: hold on to your dishes when you’re eating. Don’t let go until you’re done. They’re super quick about snatching them away.

so i’ll just reiterate what everyone else is saying — it’s decent cheap food, but if you want GOOOOOD stuff, go somewhere else. my family ordered a variety of clay pots — lamb, oyster-tofu. they were decent, but definitely not the best clay pots that i’ve ever had. the sweet and sour spare ribs were just so-so, the broccoli beef was so american — but it wasn’t super greasy, and i love broccoli, so i was pretty happy. the salt and pepper tofu was, again, not greasy, but a bit too salty. but i wholeheartedly recommend the spicy eggplant. SO much eggplant, not greasy, lots of pork and bamboo… not very spicy, but so good. so good.

Disgusted. Not sure how they pass a score of 94 on cleanliness inspection. I went there for lunch today. Ordered a fried tofu, turns out to be somewhat looks like tofu leftovers — fried tofu leftover bits. I’ve also ordered a rice noodle, it was okay until i finished and when I move the plates out of the way I found a booger like speck stuck on my finger. OH-MY-F-king-GOODNESS! Did I also mentioned the tableware were super dirty — I have no idea how they did the dishes! my goodness. Do I have to give a star?

The food was decent and the service was excellent. The wait staff refilled our tea a few times, took away empty plates promptly and were friendly. I’ve been to four star restaurants that didn’t have this level of service. No surly staff here! Too bad the food wasn’t as good as the service. The food was decent but I guess for the price, what can you expect? We ordered the $ 17.99 for three dishes deal which included soup, tea, rice and dessert. For those who want really«quality» food, I ask you, where else can you get a complete meal for three for less than what McDonald’s costs? If you’re not looking for a full meal, Prince Café also has a snack or «tea time» menu with smaller portions for a lower price. Still worth a try…

Had the baked porkchop with tomato sauce over rice, my friend had the Portugese chicken rice. Didn’t find either to be amazing, both could have had a bit more ‘oomph’, but they were decent. Mine actually benefited from the addition of a bit of ketchup and generous shakes of white pepper.(ah, but what doesn’t?) Nice clean place, decent service and good value. Dinner included a roll and choice of soup or salad.(most cha chaan teng-type places here just seem to give you the soup of the day or borscht, so the salad option was a nice change) Good HK milk tea, too. Not really a destination place, but good if you’re in the neighborhood and want a decent, cheap meal.(that is, assuming you want a HK style /soy sauce Western cuisine sort of meal)

I used to remember when this small place was once called House Of Clay Pot at the time. That place is no more Boo Hoo Tears!!! It is now called Prince Café, which is a pretty good place. When, I looked at the menu of Prince Café it is almost as simliar to Macao Friends Restaurant. The only thing about Macao Friends to Prince Café they mostly both have the same type of food thats on the menu. Only thing that is different from the two places are the prices one maybe a couple dollars more or it maybe cheaper from the other one that doesnt matter now at days some people dont really care on how much they spend at a restaurant. Prince Café, for me is a wonderful place to go out there with a group of people for lunch or dinner. I have been here once for lunch before.

This is a surprise find in the Richmond area. I came here for both lunch and dinner before. the Lunch menu is definitely cheaper. They don’t offer any specials during Dinner. Service is generally good. The waitresses returned a few times to refill our tea. They were courteous. Food was not bad at all — for the price, it is a steal. The HK-style dishes came with a drink, bun, and soup. The baked pork chop in tomato sauce was great. Pork Chop was cut up, probably to decrease cooking time. It was tender and tasty. Overall, I thought the food here is pass-able and I would go back if I feel like a cheap HK meal. p. s. They have pseudo-Japanese bento boxes. I would skip those and just go for their HK baked entrees or chow fun, chow mein.

I don’t have much to say about this place. I went to visit my doctor but I went way in advanced so I decided to be healthy and run down and grab some breakfast. One block down I find Prince Café: JOOK!(rice porridge) I asked for a table of one and ordered the preserved duck egg with pork porridge in my very ABC chinese(american born chinese) and they asked in english(like all restaurants do… Hey I’m making an effort!) what kind of tea I would like with my little meal. The jook was warm and satisfying with a good chunk of duck egg(if i had it my way i’d have half a bowl of that stuff and then maybe a drizzle of porridge, haha) the milk tea topped off my sweet tooth, and the $ 4 dollar check left me with their business card in my pocket. Safe to say that I was a pudge overweight when I went to get my physical at the doctors office. I’m sure it was just water weight.

Pros: Clean, Cheap, Fast Service, Happy Hour =) Cons: foods is just ok, but worth going to for Happy Hour I was just walking on Geary, looking for a place to eat some noodles, and came upon this Café. The first thing I noticed about the place was that it was very clean and had an interesting décor. I got a great surprise when I sat down and they handed me their HAPPYHOUR menu, which had a lot of things for 2.88 and a few drinks for a buck. I got the beef chow fun and the red bean drink with ice. The Chow Fun came with no gravy and was a bit oily and the red bead drink was pretty good. All in all, the food was good, considering the price. Its your typical HK style restaurant, but its one of the cleanest ones out there. If you are on a tight budget and want a nice place to eat, with good food, at cheap prices, then this is the Happy Hour place I would go to.

I was in here for the happy hour and got the wonton soup for $ 2.75. It was ok. The wrapper for the wonton wasn’t overly thick like most HK places. I do believe that there are hk places and cantonese places. But anyways, it wasn’t that thick for HK place. The noodles were perfect. The broth could have been better tho. I also had the chicken for lunch one time. It was a huge piece of chicken thigh that was pan fried with a light batter. It was good for something less than $ 6 that included tea, choice of rice or spaghetti, and soup. I must warn you! Like all HK places, they use ketchup in the sauce. I was in hong kong for months and this practice is pretty common. They like it for some reason. You can’t hate because somebody eats them. That’s is why these kind of restaurants are all over the city. They get another star for a very clean establishment with LCD’s showing the Phoenix channel… so HK! stinky tofu

I am not sure I am giving this place 4 stars for thier food, as it was just average at best. What I am giving it stars for is the menu and the décor, because I have never seen anything like it, ever!!! Samples from their menu; French Style Escargot Russian Borscht French Toast Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce Various Curries Bento Boxes Prime Rib Portugese Style Chicken Spam and Egg Sandwich Seafood Ramen Fish Ball with Lettuce Porridge Chow Fun Beef Macaroni Noodle But wait, theres more, and, boy, does it get interesting… Baked Meat Sauce Unagi Salmon with Ham and Cheese Sauce Peanut Butter Porky Bun Oh, and every dinner entrée comes with a side of Spaghetti??? I am not sure how to describe the décor, but it is just as strange as the VERY extensive menu; The doors to the kitchen have an Egyptian motif The back wall is plastered with Lattice and fake Ivy There is an illuminated Chinese panel on one wall, a Hawaiian mural on the opposite wall, and a Tuscan painting hanging near the entrance Lighting fixtures straight out of the 80s, in bright colors to give this place the flair it would OBVIOUSLY be lacking otherwise 2 plasmas in this joint — one was tuned to sports and the other an exercise infomercial with Christy Brinkley and Chuck Norris(with Chinese subtitles, no less). This place may not have the best food in town, but I have to say, it totally rocks!!!

Wow — the newest Hong Kong-style tea restaurant along Geary is one of the best! It’s clean(for those of you who are squeamish about these things), it’s cheap, and the food’s delicious! I’ve always been looking for an authentic and half-decent restaurant(no, D&A does NOT count) and looks like this might just be it for me. I’ve been coming every week ever since it’s opened, and it just seems to get busier and busier… it’s always packed now! BTW, they have great specials throughout the day… breakfast specials from 8 – 11(HK-style tea restaurant breakfasts — both Chinese and Western specials), 11 – 3(again, both Chinese and Western), dinner, and midnight snack specials too… You can’t go wrong with those… and these come with a drink too(get the HK-style milk tea with evaporated milk… mmmmm…) Oh, oh, I love the great location in Richmond only 38-Limited too — you can even grab dessert at Creations afterwards(which is what I do every time I come here :)

I was walking down Geary the other day around 2 p.m. and found this quaint café/restaurant. I thought to myself, it’s clean I’m hungry and in the mood for noodle soup — Heck, why not? To my surprise, the place was very nice and the menu was very appealing! They have a happy hour where items such as rice plates and pan-fried noodles are $ 2.88. YES! It’s no joke: $ 2.88 for food during their happy hour! What a deal! Plus, they’ve got drinks for $ 1. So, I ordered up a bowl of wonton noodle soup and hot tea for lunch. The food was pretty decent and service was quick. Here’s the best part: I get the bill and it’s FREAKIN $ 4.21! I can’t tell you enough how much of a happy camper I was walking out of there!
