Not good. Not throw-away awful, but not good. Chili has no chunks of meat. Wished I had remembered my previous negative experience and not repeated it. Maybe now I will.

This is a review of the service recovery made by one of the supervisors, Jacob. This is what happened: I asked the employee, an Asian female, for a sample of one of their soups. Then I realized they had a particular soup that I’ve had in passing so I went ahead and asked for a regular bowl of it. The employee says that I should try a sample of it first. I told her I’ve had it before so I don’t need to. She then says, «When? it’s new. How could you have tried it?» Before I walked away I said«I’ve had it at other places. This is just too much just to order» and went somewhere else to buy a meal. I was so appalled by the poor customer service that I received. It sort of reminded me of a reoccurring character on the show Seinfeld. Anyway, as my family and I were finishing our meal, Jacob came to our table and apologized for the service I received earlier and gave us coupons for a free meal. To be honest, I thought the female employee was the supervisor because of how she spoke to him and I didn’t think I would get an apology. I was very impressed by Jacob’s professionalism.

Had the clam chowder with sourdough bread. Soup had very little clam, was overly salty, and the flavor was mediocre. But the price at $ 5 was not bad Would recommend eating someplace else.

I reeeaally wish I read the reviews before going here. I was having a serious craving for clam chowder and came across this place in the Stonestown Galleria Mall. It was more like a clam soup than a clam chowder. It was so watery; absolutely no thick or creamy texture. 1 star for the chowder, but I give it two stars because the hunk of sourdough bread that came with it was really good and they also have fresh fruits. I was able to purchase a granny smith apple with my meal.

Just ordered food online for my sick husband. Paid and tipped, and I made sure it was a gift so my husband doesn’t need to worry about anything. They called him and bothered him if he can pay for the food, I mean seriously! When it was mentioned in the order it’s a gift, why would you call my husband. The reason for it was I was out of state and that I need to fax them my driver license and front and back of my card. And she said it’s not a big deal. Do not order food online.

Just got back from lunch and it’s review time! 3÷25÷152:09PM I ordered the clam chowder soup which the cashier said was one their popular soups. Regular sized clam chowder that came with your option of a sour dough bread or wheat bread cost $ 6.24 with tax. The soup was a total fail. The consistency was watery, unlike Boudins clam chowder where it is creamy and thick; it also lacks in flavor. I thought it was because i was sick, but i read reviews below and they said the same thing. Next time, i will walk a couple of feet more and directly go to Boudins who specializes in clam chowder.

I have a serious addiction to their Tomato Bisque… The services is always speedy, polite and awesome. I’ve at times had to ask for a baguette to be cut so I could have a slice and they do so without hesitation. Really, it’s a problem, i go a couple of times a week. Yum.

My go-to spot for my morning soup. I’ve been going here for years. I hear that it may be changing its ownership/name in the next year. I hope it doesn’t change the menu or the great staff.

Delicious! I love how it has vegan options. The only con is that the soup is boiling hot so I have to wait about 25 min for it to cool so I always have to take it to go.

Great soups. The staff is real friendly. You can sample before you buy. You can also add a half sandwich or a salad for just $ 2.50 more! You can check out daily menu online so you know what soup they have that day.

Yip was very kind. We bought a quart, and she offered an extra bowl since we were sharing. Overall, a bit pricey and the clam chowder wasn’t flavorful. I’ve had much better soup experiences with canned products. The other worker seemed very disrespectful and oblivious to a spill in front of the kiosk. All in all, I’m never going back here. Best wishes to Yip!

Tried this place for the first time today since my stomach was upset and I couldn’t picture eating anything else(or keeping it down for that matter) besides soup. I had one of their soup of the day, potatoe leek, and half a turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich was edible, but not good. It was a little soggy in spite of the thick crusty sourdough roll and the turkey had an odd flavor. Not sure how you mess up a basic turkey sandwich, but the moral of this story is if a place has«soup»(or any food for that matter) right in it’s title maybe just stick to that. I have never had potatoe leek soup before, so I have no comparison, but theirs was creamy, savory, and delicious. The soup it self was a purée and they added fresh chopped green onion(optional) which didn’t add much as far as flavor for me. I’d definitely have it again and am looking forward to trying different varieties for my future soup cravings!

I HATEYIPWHOWORKSTHERE, she is literally one of the worst employees I have ever come into contact with. I was in a huge rush to go so I figured getting soup would be quick, and after mopping up some nasty spill and putting her finger up to me in a «hold on a minute» way she proceeds to roll her eyes at me and ask what I wanted, OHANDPSSHEDIDNTCHANGEHEREFFINGGLOVES so then after huffing and puffing and getting me my clam chowder she walks away and doesn’t ring me up… So I sit there like what the hell is going on and is she even close to being serious right now? She then proceeds to act like a complete B***H and tell me that I need to wait again, at this point I’ve wasted 14 minutes for this sorry pathetic excuse of an employee to ring me up and give me my soup. Then she stares at my debit card and at me like she doesn’t know what she’s doing. This was the most horrible experience I’ve had at this location, I will not be returning, and I will be writing to the company.

With the name«San Francisco Soup Company» I totally thought that they’d make their soups fresh. I guess I was wrong being there was a piece of plastic in my Clam Chowder. I took it to the workers and showed them while they tried to tell me it was onion skin. He even called to other workers and asked if it was an onion skin. Needless to say, no other workers even looked up but still replied, «It’s an onion skin.» I really don’t know what to say to that. The fact that I put it in my mouth, I’m sure that it was plastic. The worker offered me another soup but at that point, I lost my appetite for this place. Called my cousins to see if they were going out to eat, left to meet up with them and told them about my experience. Have to say, none of us or our families and friends will be coming to this location or any others anytime soon.

I’ve been to the one in Berkeley and thought I’d try it here as well. The problem was the service was horrendous. They had one lady working, who probably was in her 70s, so she couldn’t go any faster. I was patient and waited. I got the large split pea with half roasted turkey sandwich. Honestly, avoid the split pea, it’s not that good. It was bland, lacked any flavor, and tasted like it was made the day before. The sourdough and sandwich were good though. I wished Unilocal had a 10 point rating system, so I could give this place a 5/10, but I round up on the 5 star system because I’m more optimistic than I should be.

This is upsetting. My favorite clam chowder has drastically decreased in quality. For the past 2 times I’ve been here, the soup tastes completely watered down and lacked flavor. I usually enjoy the soup’s creaminess, but it’s just super watery these days too. They really need to go back to doing what they were doing originally. So much for enjoying a nice bowl of clam chowder on a cold rainy day.

I’m a big fan of soups, I like their Southwestern corn chowder. Tried the BBQ Pork soup, definitely don’t recommend it. You can taste a sample of all the soups first before choosing. It quick and perfect for on the go.

A combo of half Caesar salad and a regular bowl of Southwestern Sweet Corn chowder costs 8 dollars. The soup comes with sourdough which tastes good when it goes with the soup. But I feel like they can offer better soup because it’s too thick.

Love the Southwestern Corn Chowder. It’s my comfort food of choice these days. It’s slightly spicy but tolerable for the sensitive. All soups come with a choice of sourdough or wheat bread. I’m not a fan of sourdough, but I love it with this corn chowder. The Grandma’s Chicken Soup is fresh and hearty with large chunks of chicken and a clear broth. This would be ideal to load up on when one is suffering from a cold I would imagine. You also have the option to add noodles to this soup, which I prefer. My favorite soup is actually a beef stew of some sort, although it was a special on the menu and I’ve had it once. I still look for it each time I stop by, but I have yet to see it on the menu again. The service isn’t always the greatest, but I can handle the very brief interaction if it means I can sit for a half hour with my tasty comfort food of choice. :P

The soup is pretty good, but the sour-faced woman who serves it kinda ruins the experience. I’ve been here three times, and it’s always her. She acts as if you’re interrupting her busy social schedule. If you ask for a sample, it’s presented with a sigh, as if you’re really putting her out. Even as she hands you your food, she somehow manages to give the impression that there are better things she could be doing if you weren’t bothering her. Maybe she wants to be the dour Filipino version of the Soup Nazi, but it’s just unpleasant… it’s not funny.
