the folks running this place know what’s up, this is a salon for those of us who want a chill and casual yet clean and professional atmosphere. Nestled in the infamous Tenderloin District, I love coming here because it reminds me of everything about San Francisco I love and miss. You might even find a few neighbors dropping by to hang out or just check in with the workers, friendly city vibes for sure.
The haircutters here are so bomb. Lisette is great! she makes great convo„ she is focused and will work with you to make you look great. Mary is also a good bet, she’s really friendly, and gives really advice if youre the type who isnt always sure of exactly what you want.
Ive always been satisfied with my cuts from Strand. Great Haircuts in a place that not only offers a great young community vibe but a barber Salon all you real San Franciscans will love!

I walked with in hair that had been treated with black box dye for over a decade and a strong desire to work out some sort of plan that will eventually let me grow out my grey (without the skunk line down the middle, thank you very much). I fully expected for the process of lightening up the black to take months.
Instead Adriel listened to exactly what I wanted and made great suggestions to give me something fun AND get rid of the black dye. She did a fantastic job creating a fade from blonde to pink to purple. And on top of the color, I walked out with probably my favorite hair cut ever.

LISETTE IS A BOSS! She transformed my hair from an ashy-​I-​bought-​this-​color-​at-​Walgreens to a lovely chestnut brown and really tried to understand what I was going for. I’ve always loved going to Strand, but now I love it even more!

Let me just say Lisette is the absolute BEST! I was a loyal client to my previous hair stylist for 8 years until she moved to NYC. I have tried many reputable SF salons over the last 3 years with great disappointment. I have even vowed only to get my hair cut while visiting NYC, until now. Lisette patiently listened to me and produced exactly what I wanted, but better. I don’t write many Unilocal reviews, but I must give credit where credit is due. My wavy hair now looks amazing styled curly or straight. As for the color, a natural Ombré to my request, was executed perfectly.

Being a mom of two (toddler and a newborn), i was crunch for time. I needed an appt last minute and late evening. I wanted a quick but amazing experience as this was my «treat» to myself, AND it needed to be affordable. OMG. Strand is now my go-​to salon. 7 years of city living and I have yet to find my replacement salon I loved so much in the South Bay. Finally! Adriel not only was on time with the appt, she made the spot happen on such short notice. She listened to what I wanted done w my long, unwashed, uncombed, hair… Then did everything I wanted in less than 20mins! I was one of THE best experiences I’ve had in a salon and I’ve paid big bucks in the past both here and out of state. Honestly, her pricing should go up as it’s worth way more. I more than love this salon and my new hair! Much needed and much appreciated!

Came here a couple weeks ago for an appointment scheduled with Adriel. She was amazing! Very easy to talk to and great at understanding what your wants are. My wants were pretty hazy, didn’t know specifically but we talked it through and I ended up with something I really liked — straightforward blonde highlights but they looked great. I was on the border of getting crazy color and ended up not, but as an alternative, she told me she had this «Tinge Pastel» product that her friend makes. It only works on blonde hair, fades out in 3 – 5 washes, and comes in a variety of pastel colors. I absolutely love it! I got purple and put it on the bottom half of my hair, and it created a beautiful pastel purple ombré look, and was very easy to apply. I just ordered 3 more containers off of the tinge pastel website, excited to try coral and pink!

If you aren’t getting your hair cut by Cadance at Strand, what are you even doing with your life?
Since starting to see Cadance, not only have I generally felt good about how I look, but strangers stop me on the street to compliment my hair and ask where I get it done. I have even had people ask if they can take pictures of my hair because they love it so much.
Honestly, it’s a little creepy, and I wish they would go away. But I’ll run with the fact that I am literally [foot] traffic stoppingly good-​looking, thanks to Cadance, so whatever.*
And if that wasn’t enough endorsement, a beer, a shampoo, and a killer haircut can all be had for under $ 50. Get it.

This was my first time here and I went in and Diane took me in. I asked for my usual cut that I get every time because I’m not adventurous with hairstyles. She suggested a better style that would better go with my hair type and I said lets do it! I’m so glad I did. She took the time to explain how she’s going to cut my hair and why she was going to do that way. Her attention to detail is awesome! I think I found my barber. Will definitely be going back there for my next hair cuts.

I followed Cadance here from some other place because she has consistently given me the best haircut of my life every time I go in. I have never been so happy with a haircut. She deals with my cowlicks and weird hair with attention to detail and perseverance. Plus online appointments = easy. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I followed Cadance here from another salon. It took me nearly two years to find a well priced, men’s hair cut here in SF. She does a fantastic job and i would highly recommend. The new location is great and easy to get to. The online reservation system also make this such an easy transaction.

So… I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I just got my haircut from Diane @ Strand and I am super happy with it. Not only does she know how to use the clippers and scissors, but she’s a good egg. I don’t know her well, since this was my first visit with her, but she listened to my current life events and lent me hear ear and advice. If you want a good cut and want to support good people… go to the Strand… you won’t regret it.

This place is awesome. Minimalist décor, quality hair products, convenient location, good sound system & music, well priced, friendly and unpretentious people. Adriel has been helping me with my damaged and hard to manage hair. She is fantastic, very attentive and talented. I love this place.

Wyatt is my hairstylist, and damn, she should be yours too! It’s taken me as long as I’ve lived in this city (about 5 years) and many many random Groupons before I found someone I’d go to on a regular basis, and Wyatt’s it.
She’s not afraid of trying something different, and she’s made maintaining my super short hair fun instead of a chore. I ask for slightly different styles every time and she always listens, helps make sense of my rambling, and gives me something I’m excited to play with when I leave.
And she’s just a rad lady on top of it! Trust me, I’ve done the circuit — you’ll love her.

Saw Diane after being recommended by a friend. Super easy to get to, super friendly and works with your style. I told her my concerns, my hair routine and we quickly came up with a cut that turned out better than I could have imagined! She even gave me super helpful and low maintenance styling tips! Definitely going to her and no one else from now on.

Went to Adriel’s salon for the first time today and she did an awesome job with my looong hair! Love my new haircut and she gave me some styling tips as well! I am happy I found this chill and friendly spot! Will come again!

I go to Diane at Strand. She is outstanding. She somehow gets my lack of hair to look great – just hip enough for my tastes. I have tried about a dozen other barbers in the city and she is the best. She is quite a bargain too, so tip her well!
Not only does she do a great job for me, but she did a killer job on my teen daughter’s cool pixie cut.

Strand is great! Super chill vibe, great stylists, and amazing products. No matter what your hair type you will come out looking sharp. I get my hair done by Adriel and Diane. I also have referred many friends who have also appreciated the experience and loved their hair. The girls also give great styling and product advice. Free beer while you get your hair done too! Great new shop in the TL.
