They just sold me a baked Pork Bun that I watched some older man carry out from the back with his hands. They must have been frozen I’m not sure. Meanwhile he was cleaning the walls. I got my 2 pork buns that cost 5.50 or 6.00 with tax and guess what? They were molded. On the outer shell was little spots of mold. Disgusting to say the least…

Well, my girlfriend and I were hungry and Xiao Loong was not opened until 5 on Sundays. Our first mistake was thinking that, perhaps because it was on the respectable avenue of West Portal, which touts very good to truly superior eateries, Tsing Tao would be at least decent. We were so, so, SO wrong. Our second mistake was not running out the door when the odd smell of old oil hit us as we sat down. It just didn’t smell good. We should have ran, screaming, but we didn’t. Our third mistake was staying and EATING what was on our plates. Huge portions, true: I ordered Dragon Beef with white rice and she, Kung Pao Tofu with chow mein, off the lunch menu, and the alleged«food» was mounded on our plates. Cheap, true: the entire meal was under $ 20. However, whatever they concocted was scary. I ate about 5 bites and started feeling uncomfortably full. My girlfriend also had to stop after a few bites. The waitress, who had been rushing us to order and seemed to simply want us out of there as soon as possible, asked us if we wanted our leftovers wrapped. We both said OK, not realizing what we had just done to our bodies by consuming anything at this restaurant. We both used the restroom before our walk home, which forced us to walk through the kitchen. It stunk, plain and simple. Food was on the floor, and a wet cardboard box was broken down and used as a makeshift mat to cross a soaked section of flooring. I glanced over and saw that a group of people was gathered closely around a table in the back, chopping some kind of meat, as bits of it fell to the floor. I didn’t wait for any further culinary information. As we exited the kitchen area, we both noticed a huge, industrial sized container of Metamucil on the prep rack. We looked at each other, wondering why it was there. It proved telling. About 10 minutes into our walk home, we nearly simultaneously were hit with horrible stomachaches and nausea. We had to stop several times to bend over and catch our breath to avoid throwing up — or worse. Let’s just say a bathroom never felt so good. DONOTEATHERE if you value your money, health, or home plumbing. West Portal should be ashamed to count Tsing Tao Restaurant among its number. ‘Nuff said.

Never again. My roommate always orders from here for some absurd reason. Maybe it’s because he’s from Ohio and Chinese food there is crap too. Anyways I ordered with him from grub hub for delivery. Got the generals chicken Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice. The chicken was soggy, beef was bland and basically just onions. Rice was tough and chewy. Horrible place. Don’t order from here.

Yuck. I have been dealing with some Chinese food cravings as of late so I’ve been ordering it more than usual(which means twice this week compared to twice a year). I ordered potstickers– soggy and flavorless with thick inauthentic dough, I also ordered egg foo young and white rice. The egg foo Young was repulsive. They put the sauce separate and it was this mystery grease sauce. Brown, bland with a scary consistency and a half inch layer of grease floating over top. After draining the grease I tried the sauce on the eggs and it was all disgusting. The sauce helped mask the skanky flavor of the eggs but was not any less disgusting. I threw that crap in the garbage. Oh and it came with plastic packaged(like soy sauce) gyoza sauce that taste just like soy sauce. They can’t make gyoza sauce? F-You tsing tao.

Went here on a Saturday night around 8:00, it was pretty quiet when we got there but a bit busier when we left around 9:00. Had the egg rolls as an appetizer, fried rice and broccoli chicken for the main course. WOW this meal was amazing! I think I said«this is soooo good!» with a mouth full of my chicken broccoli like a dozen times. Service was great, possibly because it was a bit slow. Nonetheless our server was really nice and patient. Will definitely be going back very soon!

In 3.5 blocks, we have 2 restaurants called Tsing Tao(the other is New Tsing Tao but it was actually there first). This location has had several different restaurants, so far, this has been the best. Very reasonable prices, good food, nice setting. Rarely very crowded. (FYI — Now just called Tsing …)

The veggies were fresh. It was not too dirty. The staff was great. The fried tofu was old and i got a bubbly tummy the next day. You can never be sure why you get a weird tummy, but I am almost positive. I would not eat there again… sorry guys… almost.

There are actually four Tsing Taos in SF, this being #3. Quiet little place that’s half-heartedly decorated like a Middle Eastern Generic place, but serves the usual eighty dishes of American Chinese meat/carb combos. Lunch specials are a good deal here. Around $ 5 for two heaping mounds of white rice and some kind of standard Mongolian General Tsao thing. You can pay an extra buck or buck fifty to sub in fried rice or noodles. I got the fried wide noodles and it was huge. Lots of veggies and meat though the noodles could have used more char. Meals come with hot n’ sour soup, orange slices, and the usual fortune cookies.

Hungry for Chinese? Well we enjoyed a Ripley’s Believe It or Not scrumptious Chinese meal on West Portal of all places. Our young waitress brought out a healthy-sized bowl of soup, tossed in some deep fried rice crust and we found out why they call it Sizzling Rice Soup… an audible bargain at $ 5.25. Next came a half-dozen chicken pot-stickers. These homemade wheat dumplings were steamed perfectly… a less noisy bargain, also at $ 5.25. We topped off our«hey, let’s try this joint» visit with pork and house special eggplant($ 8.25) that we heaped onto perfectly prepared brown rice. The Asian eggplant was well cooked so that it had carmelized… just the way we like it. Next time I’m out in the Outer Dune Lands west of the Peaks, if I’m thinking Chinese, I’m thinking Tsing Tao #3.

Decided to try this place because the bf said he’s had them deliver to his house and he liked their food. I on the other hand, was not impressed. I had chicken and tofu with fried rice. The sauce was too garlicky and I didn’t like it. The only thing I liked about this place was the good service.

They decided to join the crowd and start spamming people with leaflets toss at people’s doors. Wanted to try it in the beginning but after seeing the crap at my door, no more. Business must be bad to need to pay for leaflets. And business must be bad because the food isn’t good.
