Monterey Liquors

This place has my fav… California lager. They recently added Gordon birth Marzen. So looks as though there are two reasons for me t I keep coming here.
They have a nice taco stand outside and a new little smooth shop inside. The clientele is mixed but to me adds a little culture.
The cashier /​owner is also great… always happy to see me!

Best. Liquor store. Ever. Ever. EVER.
Since the new mgmt. (’11), this has become easily the greatest liquor store I’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. The guys running the joint are a class act, the alcohol selection is excellent, super cheap and VERY well-​labeled. There’s an AWESOME taco cart out back after 5:30, 6 days a week (last time i checked) and the new deli in the shop (open from 11a — 6p) makes my new favorite new sandwich. (Teriyaki Chicken Vietnamese Sandwich). I know it sounds guero, but you shouldn’t knock it before you try it… I’ve made people pull over on a whim, once I realized we were near my precious sammy. Beats anything I’ve had from Lee’s, hands-​down.
Also, the chicken wings are proper. Get them for a party and you’ll make a few new friends, guaranteed.
Also, also, they carry the oft-​hard-​to-​find Firestone-​Walker Union Jack IPA, which is #1 on my list, as well as many others I know.
I wish nothing but success to these fellows and their establishment. It is truly something special.
