My husband and I called ahead last night for a to-go order and got voicemail at about 7 pm on a Saturday night, but then the owner called right back to say that’s he’s open and to take our order. We’d been looking for a local place to get a good shawarma salad since the original cook at the Fusion Mediterranean Grill on Cottle Road went back to Lebanon, and after a disappointing experience when Robee’s Falafel finally opened nearby. We were not disappointed at Sargonis! Our shawarma salads were just $ 8 each and were decent portions for the price.(I’m not of the«big portions = good value» school though, so YMMV…) The salad greens were fresh romaine — a really good start. Cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, a few pickles, and — of course — the beef shawarma — were all tasty. We thought that the stand-out was the garlic dressing though — LOTS of garlic and very flavorful! We’ll be back to try other dishes.

Bad!!! $ 17.50 for a super mediocre chicken kebab & all it came with was rice & a sad tomato that I say no to(see the picture). It makes me think that the garlic fires & wraps here must be out of the world… they better be. I’ve never been this disappointed & angry with a restaurant and Unilocal…4 starts REALLY! The reviews seem weird too… either they are 5 stars or suck, not really sure how many are actually true. Oh…also when I called in my order they did not give me the price of the dish. The folks running the seem nice but they should probably go do something else. If you do have the unfortunate fate of going here don’t order anything other than the Fries.

First time coming here and could not be happier with my decision to stop for dinner. Food is delicious and for a great price. Sargon and his son Alex were very friendly, humble, and welcoming. I fully recommend this place whether you’re getting take out or like to get a family dining feels. Keeping the small business American dream alive.

One of my favorite spots to eat at! I always love coming here and the owner is great! He is super hard working and always remembers my order. This is absolutely the place to go in South San Jose! This is a definite place to go if you’re looking for a new restuarant.

I’ve been to this place many times. I think their gyros and garlic fries are good but over time and especially now, I can’t support going here anymore. Expensive and small portions. They even charge for the sauces that would typically come with your meal at any kebab place. The other frustrating thing about this place is they are frequently closed when they are supposed to be open due to family emergencies or whatever which I understand but it’s happened so many times when I’ve been there that it’s been frustrating on my dinner plans. There are many other kebab options where you get more for less. My mixed plate didn’t even come with hummus, pita bread, or salad which is standard in any mixed plate anywhere you go. See photo.

I really want to give this place business AND a good review. However, it’s never ever opened! I probably called them at least ten random times on any given Saturday and no one picks up! They’re closed on Sundays so that’s a bummer. When are you guys open?! I really like the gyros there(probably my fave in the are), but I can never get ahold of them!!!

The portions was a bit small, the sauce for the garlic fries was too sour for my taste, the falafel was too mushy inside, and the burger patty was also very small compared to the buns. Service was friendly, the place was clean, but I didn’t feel I got my money’s worth. Although, there was nothing horrible with my experience and there was nothing to praise

Delicious food and friendly service! The owner will give you suggestions if you’re not sure what to order. We tried the sampler plate and everything was really good.

What an amazing treat! Like a home cooked meal. The owner, Sargon was kind enough to make me a sampler. Everything was delicious. I had the chicken skewer, tabouli salad, dolme, kashk bademjoon and it was all great. I also had a bite of my boyfriend’s wrap and it was also amazing. Definitely recommend!

Food was not bad, but this is not memorable! Beef kabob wasn’t grounded little, like the way Afghan or Persian looks and tastes. I tried the combo, to me its little too pricey, compared to the service and food quality.

Had beaf wrap, Assyrian pizza, lentil rice and filled bell peppers. Everything tasted great and served quickly. Food is fresh restaurant is simple but clean and well setup. This is a perfect neighborhood restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good food and nice conversation.

I was excited to give this place a chance but our order was extremely bland, dry and uninspiring. The chicken tikka wrap had undercooked peppers giving an extremely bitter taste. The chicken was dry and the wrap was sauceless. The garlic fries were decent but they were only fries, same can be said of the hummus. I was dissapointed with the diced tortilla like pita. My gyro wrap was tasty, but for the cost of the items, the food was not worth it. The customer service was great, but an overall disappointing meal.

I would say it’s good, but I didn’t like the tzatziki sauce. It seemed to have mint or something I did not find authentic tzatziki sauce that I hoped for, though outside the sauce the meal was prepared well and the meat was tender. Maybe they should consider offering which type of sauce you would like. Or, I just could be wrong. I see some post calling this Assyrian, though I see it listed as Greek.

Love the Food here ! I must eat here at least once a month. Kabobs are delicious and I love their rice. It’s a family owned business and The owners are always so friendly and welcoming. I’ve also tried the cheeseburger which is fantastic. I highly recommend!

Wonderful customer service and delicious food. Thank you for working with a difficult customer(me) due to my food allergies. The changes you made for me were perfect. You both made me feel welcome and I will definitely recommend your place to others.

Owner and workers are very friendly. The food is high quality, traditional homemade Assyrian food. The hot sauce is the owners own recipe which is BOMB!!! Very very spicy but AMAZING.

Awesome! The garlic fries are perfect. The burgers are also excellent with tons of flavor. The falafel salad is also especially good. Great service. The family that owns it is always there making people feel welcome… YUM

The food was fresh and made to order. The meat had great flavor and wasn’t dry. We tried the chicken kabob, beef kabob, and shish tawouk. The price was a little too much for the little amount of food($ 12−14/plate) and it only came with rice and some onions. Only the chicken plates come with hummus and salad, at the same price, which made no sense to me. Side note: call before you come here to ensure they’re open because sometimes he closes last minute to go «cater» or drop off food for somewhere else.

I had high hopes for this place based on the a Unilocal reviews here. The service was great but I wan’t blown away by the food. Our garlic fries were served limp and soggy which was very disappointing based on all the recommendations. The falafel wrap and the gyro sandwich were just average. I expected much more flavor for a Mediterranean dish.

Sargoni’s is a San Jose gem! I am lucky enough to work only 10 minutes away and thus, I am enjoying Sargoni’s delicious food about 5 days a week! It is a great setting for a date out, a friends get together, large family dinner, and to-go orders! Delicious authentic Middle Eastern(Assyrian) food that tastes 100% home made, THEBEST Garlic fries in the Bay, and yummy treats like baklava and tabouleh. The owners are the sweetest — it is the best feeling being able to support a local family owned business. The Cahalen plaza, Blossom Hill(oakridge mall area), Almaden area, and beyond are lucky to have Sargoni’s right next door!
