We actually stopped ordering from here about 7 months ago after being charged an extra $ 3 for no apparent reason(we didn’t notice until we had already picked our food up and made it home), and being disappointed by tasteless food. The quality and flavor of their food, and the low level of service they provide forced us to order elsewhere. We are much happier ordering from Rose Garden where they’re always friendly and serve large, flavorful portions!

Ordered thru eat24 for the first time and chose this place. The delivery was actually fast. Ordered: Mongolian Beef and it was tasty but had waaaaayyyyy too much onions. The salt and pepper pork chops were just okay. Shrimp fried rice was little on the dry side. Garlic boiled shrimp was decent. Next time I will order it more spicy. Over all, when ordering for delivery, we may try them again. Be right back…

NEWOWNERSFINALLY! The husband and wife are super sweet. The place looks renovated and I always see customers when I’m passing by. The food tastes so much better than before but very small portions and a bit pricey.

Terrible service. I ordered online and waited nearly 2 hours, only to find out that they missed my order. They refused to make an extra delivery to compensate for the missed order. It doesn’t seem like the first time, according to other reviews.

It took almost two hours for my delivery after ordering food. I was told two different times my food would be there in ten minutes. And my food was cold & average.

We’ve been waiting for an hour and a half for food. 40 minutes after delivery time. Eat24 insists they’ve been on the way since 6:48 and it’s 7:28. No response for request for refund. Wonderful experience. Will not be using this service or going to JL Kitchen again.

This place is mediocre at best. The rice was a day old and crunchy dry like they left the lid open. The vegetables were wilted and old .the only thing you get here is sick. Cause I did and so did my friend. When in doubt read the Unilocal

So my crew and I decided to try J L Kitchen again… I have reduced my rating 1 star because of the following: 1. I ordered 2 diet cokes and 2 regular cokes, we only received 1 of each. 2. The driver told me to call the business to reduce the amount owed. 3. We waited almost an hour and a half when«Eat24» said 45 mins to an hour. 4. I ordered the Gravy Chow Fun with BBQ Pork, last time they cut up the BBQ Pork into small perfect morsels, this time they were big slices. 5. No paper plates were given, we did not order any lunch specials so I don’t see why we didn’t receive any plates like last time. 6. I requested more Salt and Pepper on my wings and pork chops but more was not added, they tasted the same as last time. I expect better customer service when we spend $ 50. I might try them again in the future but I hope they straighten things up around there.

The food was REALLY bland. The shrimp fried rice was not good. The dry fried ribs were no cooked enough. We also had the boiled shrimp in a bag. Nit good either. I would not recommend them to nobody. First and last time visiting.

Now under new management so came back after 5 years. The dried fried ribs looked good on the pictures so ordered that. It was mostly bones with not a whole lot of meat. I can’t remember what else I got. There seems to be mostly non Asians going here.

This place was great! Best Chinese I have had in Oakland so far. Combination Fried Rice is Great. Pot Stickers Awesome. The wings are ok. I will for sure order again. Chinese I have had in Oakland normally has been sub par. This place I was pleasantly surprised.

Decided to order from this place because they had the highest review on . We got cashew chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, potstickers, and garlic beef. The only dish that had any flavor at all was the garlic beef, and it was very spicy, though not indicated as such on the menu. The only way we were able to identify the orange chicken was the orange slice in the container. We specified«no mushrooms» in anything. Sure enough, when it arrived both the cashew chicken and garlic beef had mushrooms. Entrée sizes are also fairly small. Will not be ordering from this place again.

Delivery was lightning fast, online order to food in hand in 15 minutes. I ordered egg flower soup, very basic and unexciting in every way. Needed seasoning. Shrimp chow mein, same very unexciting and bland.

I ordered online my first time trying food for Jl’s they were suppose to take 45 mins but only took 15 I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice and the honey walnut shrimp. The shrimp was delicious it was big. The orange chicken plate was a huge portion worth the wait! They also gave me free soup!

We decided to drop in after driving by this place for 5 years. We had high expectations after reading some of the reviews. Ordered the deep fried flounder they said they don’t make it any more. We asked for the deep fried tilapia as a fall back, and the waitress said they don’t make that anymore. Not sure why they just don’t cross out the ones they aren’t making? G to the salt pepper pork chop, salt pepper fillet and the Singapore noodles. They gave us 8 fried crab wontons for ordering more than $ 20. The salt pepper pork shop was good. Not coated with flour. Not thin like at other places. Served with slivers of site fried onion and jalapeño peppers which added nice flavor and heat. The Singapore noodles were really salty and dry. Only a couple of shrimp. We prefer the New HK version with sauce and a lot more shrimp and a lot more flavor. That being said the portion size was huge. However, we prefer quality over quantity. The S&P fish was coated with a flour batter. It was crispy and had good flavor. The batter was too heavy so we won’t order that again. The crab wontons were make with the think skins and didn’t fry up as crispy as other version.

On Saturday, 3÷28÷15, my girlfriend and I ordered some Chinese food to go from J L Kitchen since we were in the area visiting a few friends. We drove by this place numerous amounts of times but were hesitant to eat there because it looked like a hole in the wall. Well let me start off by saying I’m glad we finally ate here because the food was delicious! Atmosphere/Décor: When you look at J L Kitchen from outside it doesn’t look like much. But when actually go inside it doesn’t look that bad. There were plenty of tables to sit at inside. Even though the restaurant is on the smaller side it’s spacious inside. The restaurant looked clean as well. Food: We ordered the Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, Vegetable Chow Mein and the Pork Fried Rice. Everything was excellent and tasted very fresh! We got Mongolian Beef with mild spicy sauce but you can order it very spicy if you want. The beef tasted really good. There wasn’t one piece of fat in it. The beef was tender and flavorful. The Orange Chicken tasted really good. There was no fat in the chicken and the batter tasted good. I liked the flavor of the orange sauce. The Vegetable Chow Mein was some of the better chow mein I’ve eaten. It was very fresh and clean tasting. The noodles were cooked perfectly and I liked the veggies a lot. There were tons of fresh veggies, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms, carrots, just to name a few. My favorite was the Pork Fried Rice. This was definitely some of the best Pork Fried Rice I’ve ever eaten. It was so good. The pork tasted so so good. It wasn’t fatty at all. It was all meat. I’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese Restaurants where the pork in the fried rice tastes old. That wasn’t the case at J L Kitchen. The pork was sensational! The rice was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also liked the veggies and huge pieces of egg in it. Service: The lady that took my order over the phone was very nice. When I picked up our food to go I found out that they also offer delivery. That’s a good thing to know especially for people that live in San Leandro. Our food was ready within 15 minutes. We got there and picked everything up and had no issues. The service was great! Overall: Don’t listen to the people on here that gave this place a bad review based on the food. J L Kitchen is excellent and tasty! I literally felt very light and clean after I ate their food and let me tell you I ate a lot! The food at J L Kitchen is up there with some of the high end Chinese Restaurants I’ve eaten at in SF. Do yourself a favor and go give J L Kitchen a try. It’s really good!

I ordered wor wonton soup I didn’t like the wontons it was thick like dumplings and they only gave two small shrimp and few pieces of meat. The soup tasted like hot water and soy sauce. I also ordered the Mongolian beef too much onions and the portion is small. They put it in a small tupper ware type plastic container trying cut back in food portions. You will get more portions of they used the traditional large Chinese boxes. $ 7.50 per dish not worth the price. This location used to be good when the original owners ran the place. These new owners are not good cooks. Not going back soon.

Thought we’d give this place a try since it’s right around the corner from our house. Sad to say we won’t be ordering from here again. I don’t know about the inside of the place or customer service because hubby picked it up, but I didn’t have any trouble when I called in so I’m giving an additional star for easy ordering… Here’s what we had: Beef chow mein: this was simply noodles with onions and pieces of beef. Zero flavor, besides the onions might have been bad. Sesame chicken: dime sized pieces of what might be battered chicken that tasted and felt like mush. Again, no flavor. I gagged. Salt and pepper fish: The only edible dish and was still pretty bland. The batter wasn’t crispy… the pieces were really soft but might have been because it was take out. Didn’t taste any salt or pepper… Needed more flavor! We had the above three dishes with steamed rice and our total was $ 28. Big waste on unappetizing food.

Not a fan! They’ve changed ownership quite a few times. Walked in today thinking it would be better since they have new menus and the inside looked spiffed up, I was wrong. Girls taking orders had dry personalities and I felt like I was being rushed. The food was ready quick, almost too quick. Came home and I am completely unsatisfied! Pork fried rice tasted like fish and was over salted. Chow mein was decent but over salted. Orange chicken tasted like garlic, with zero orange flavor whatsoever. It almost tasted like everything was made in the same pan. Will not be ordering from here anymore.

The food here is spectacular. Recently moved to San Leandro from Oakland and I knew I had to find me a spot for great Chinese food — I found it. The food here has always been fresh, hot, and on point. Their Mongolian beef is one of the best I’ve had! The soup on the side is refreshing. The dried fried ribs are amazing. Would def recommend.
