I’ll never order here again. I ordered from New Cherry Pit because I fractured my ankle and leg, and was home recuperating, and couldn’t drive, and they delivered to East Oakland. My sister came out to help me until I got on my feet, so we ordered egg rolls and beef broccoli, which she insisted on us getting. My sister is from S.C. so her experience with Chinese food is limited, but even she agreed these two standards were just ok. We also ordered a dish with shrimp and egg sauce which was just gross. The sauce tasted like raw eggs so I gave the shrimp to my cats and threw the rest away. And I am not a picky eater.

This restaurant closed around the end of November 2014. It’s really too bad; the people there were nice, and the seafood tofu claypot was great.

This place sucks. I placed a delivery order thru GrubHub and they never confirmed the order nor did they answer their phone. Definitely will not be ordering from here again nor will I walk in.

First time ordered for delivery on Monday, 11/24/2014. I have seen this little place coming home from Bart, and wanted to check it out. I’ve never dine in or carry out. So, I decided to try them out just maybe it is not that bad as some negative reviews stated. Omg, I was so wrong! This place is just nasty! I spent $ 50 on my delivery meal, and was so grossed out by the sight of those dishes! I took a bite of each dishes, and they were 7 dishes all together included a free dish, and I could not believe what I was tasting! The food was not fresh at all! I’ve ordered the Pot stickers, Mongolia beef, Salt n Pepper shrimp, Salt n Pepper pork chops, Crispy tofu, Chinese sausage with Chinese broccoli, and Chicken chow mien was the free dish. Only 1 dish was edible, and it was the Crispy tofu. I have eaten plenty of Chinese food, but nothing compared to this! A waste of money and food. I ended up tossing the rest of the 6 dishes in the trash! I would not think of giving them to a homeless shelter or person, cause it was just so gross looking and tasted rotted. I have never in my life written a review before, and I hope that I will not have to write another negative review. Save your money for groceries & transportation instead!

Ordered for my daughter and I. She didnt like it(picky) and I thought it tasted off, but as I eat pretty much anything I didn’t think too much about it. Took the left overs to parents and stomach aches all around! The concensus was that the food was pretty gross. Wont be ordering from them again. Besides the quality… delivery was over 20 minutes late despite being 1 mile away. Food got thrown away in the end.

Tried because of goods reviews. Had the Mongolian beef with rice. huge portion but lacks flavor, lots of onions which I like. don’t think I’ll be going back soon. Definitely will not be going back, had real bad stomach ache after eating food.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 2 years now and always passed by this place all the time… so bummed that I never thought to try it sooner! On a whim(and on my way home from work, starving) I decided to stop in for some quick takeout. I ordered the pork fried rice. It was delicious! Perfectly seasoned, the veggies were nice, firm(not mushy) and almost crispy. I was pleasantly surprised. While I waited for my food to be ready, I grabbed a to-go menu and glanced it over. All their prices are really reasonable. I will definitely be back to try some more of their food.

Pretty good prices, portions, and most importantly, delivery to Castro Valley! So few places deliver over here, so it’s nice to have decent options. Salt and Pepper Chicken: Super plain, delicious, white meat fried and tossed with jalepenos. Still crispy when it was delivered. Suitable for kids and adults with childlike palates(me!). Dry Fried Green Beans: These were a little different than what I’ve come to expect from this dish at other restaurants. Wetter, with bigger green beans, and onions. The green beans didn’t have the«blistering» on the outside that they should, nor were they very spicy. Egg rolls: More like spring rolls. Pretty good. Lots of broccoli, crispy. Potstickers: Meh. I really love good potstickers, and these weren’t them. They weren’t really crispy/burned on the bottom, and they were a little doughy and bland. Not the worst, but not the best, either. Chicken chow mein: Not too greasy. Huge portions! Crab Rangoon(free with order over $ 20): Lots of tumeric, unusual curry taste. Delivery was fast, food arrived hot. Huge portions!

So sorry to hear that Tony finally retired. Will miss his food his off menu items were to die for. The only place you could get great fried rice made in the traditional way without nasty frozen peas and carrots. I hate frozen peas and carrots. I grew up at the Cherry Pit since I was a teen. Tony treated us well and always welcomed us. Tony thank you for a great run and great food. I work for Tony for about a year. Never heard a negative thing from him. I have great memories from the Cherry Pit and luckily we have some of his recipes. I wish him all the best enjoy retirement Tony & Mimi.

Rude and poor service. Horrible place to order from. The woman who answered the phone hung up in a rush as I was trying to order food. So upsetting to know how these people are with their customers. Absolutely the most unpleasant service I’ve ever experienced trying to order something. The food isn’t great at all. Poor quality food, nothing organic and just bad, all bad!!!

Super yummy. Totally skeptical at first… Looks a lil shady from the parking lot, but we decided to give it a try based on other Unilocalers… Glad we did! Wor wonton soup was the best I ever had. And crab cheese puffs very good as well! Also tried the Mongolian beef. Very tasty… We will definitely be coming back again soon!

Not gonna lie. Definitely skeptical but very very glad I went. We ordered the prawns with egg chow fun. Amazing. Simply amazing. They were extremely accommodating and they asked how they can change it to our liking. Less salt, more salt, less spicy more spicy. This is legit folks. Don’t let the odd location or name fool you!!!

This restaurant has new owners and has reopened. I got to give it to this place, they’re pretty freakin delicious. Although they are not in the greatest location, it’s worth a try. I live a couple blocks away and have really enjoyed eating here. They have great customer service. Jenny has been our waitress most of the time and she is very friendly. They have large portions and at great prices. They have great dinner plates at $ 7.99. Good sweet and sour soup, hot tea and food. I highly recommend. Quick service and they deliver too. They also accept cards.

I was a regular customer of the old Cherry Pit. I was bummed out when they closed down. So when the new owners reopened the New Cherry Pit. I figure I would try them out . So I jumped into my Whip Olé Blue and rolled to the Cherry Pit. I parked Olé Blue in the parking lot . I rolled in and was greeted and seated. I was presented with a Menu. I perused the Menu and ordered the Fried Wontons with Sweet and Sour Sauce, a Bowl of Hot and Sour Soup and a Combo plate of Mongolian Beef and Fried Rice. I got my Hot and Sour soup first it was pretty good. Next came the Fried Wontons they were sparsely filled with Pork. Previous owners Fried Wonton was Superior. Last up was the Mongolian Beef it had way to many Onions and Peppers in it for my tastes . I paid by Credit Card and rolled out.

I love love love the food here! We have been searching for a while for decent chinese food, and finally we have found them. We like to try a new item each time we order, and they never disappoint! The staff is so friendly, and there is really a strong family presence that welcomes you and makes you feel like family. Great food and great staff!!!

The employees are always friendly, and the food fresh. The crab Rangoon is unique and flavorful; unlike other restaurants’ crab Rangoon, it seems to be seasoned with turmeric. Each dish has a unique twist. Give a local business a try with these guys.

Came here for lunch. The food tasted great, and they are generous with their portions. If you get a chance, go try their Ox Tail Beef Stew.
