Been here a number of times for a beer or two, and it’s always been a good bar to hang out at. Adding taquitos, chips & dip or another appetizer has worked out OK. Tonight we decided to order dinner from the menu — big mistake! Tried the chicken burrito — pretty sure the chicken was straight out of a can of Hormel shredded chicken(not that I’ve ever eaten that, but I imagine this is what it would be like); and a grilled chicken sandwich — which was bland and tasteless. Fries tasted like the oil they were fried in. The draft beer and cocktails were good though. So if you’re looking for a bar to hang out in for awhile, Charlie’s is a good landing, but don’t come here to eat — you can do better at a fast food joint.

The wings are delicious, wing Wednesday is the business if your looking for delicious wings and a social atmosphere. Once I came here with a friend but Charlie’s was technically closed, we still received service and some fire wings. Great place come check it out.

My family usually loves going to this place when we are in town. Tonight was the worse experience that we have ever had in any restaurant. Today there was a college football game on and I expected it to be loud, but two drunk people were extremely loud screaming at the top of their lungs. The final straw was when they started to use extremely vulgar profanities when my young kids were in the restaurant. No one would tell them to be quiet so I had to find the wait staff and tell them we were going to eat outside. We had to move our own food and then was told they were sorry and had told them to keep it down. Here’s a thought tell them to leave. You lost loyal customers who pay a lot of money on food and tips instead of telling drunks to get out.

This place was pretty cool. The bartender was nice! She helped out with some of my choices. The ambience is sports bar wish with a touch of a restaurant feel. I cam here with like 8 Army guys so already the waitress was like omfg. She held her own with like 3 guys hitting on her. She had her one liners and explained the menu and everything well. As far as the bar itself it was pretty good service and the drinks were reasonably priced. food was ok. Didn’t really make me wow or anything like that. The fries were kinda soggy and the the chicken was a little dry. The patio was closed because it was cold but I bet it looks awesome when its summer time. Waitresses were curvy but they were all pretty in their own way and from what I saw especially dealing with a bunch of Army guys they stayed professional and kept the experience good.

Ok place, can be really good service or really bad. Today it was the really bad forgot my food order at the bar then walked by me and my friends again and again and again while we had empty drinks. It came to the point of us yelling over at him if we coild have a refill, the guy that was working at 4pm on friday the 2 of October needs to be retrained on how to tend bar correctly.

I had the $ 1 tacos which are a Tuesday’s special and they were a big no. They taste nothing like Mexican food. No flavor what so ever and the mild salsa was a joke. I had 3 asada and one chicken. I would have given them one star if it wasn’t for the fact that the waitress was very nice to me.

Food was okay. Margaritas had pretty much no alcohol. Happy hour specials were good, but we ordered the nachos off the happy hour menu and asked if they can do ½ chicken and ½ beef and the server said yes… Then when the bill came, the total was was higher than individual items added up to, and we were charged both full menu price for the nachos instead of happy hour price and an extra $ 4 on top of this for doing ½ of each meat(without ever telling us beforehand they would do this, which we wouldn’t have for that upcharge)… When we brought this up to our server she just said she was new and didn’t know that the extra charge would be added– no offer to remove the charge or anything. Overall, not impressed.

We go to Charlie’s Place because there’s a huge patio, which is perfect for our 2 big dogs. Yes, the service is slow, but my husband just walks into the restaurant to order from the bartender and brings back a pitcher of water with our drink order, so we don’t have to wait around for refills. I always get the Charlie Burger with onion rings and a chocolate malt. Never disappoints. My husband likes to be adventurous, but often ends up disappointed — don’t try the chicken nuggets. However, the nachos are quite good, but ask them to go light on the beans or else you’ll end up with soggy chips!

Charlie’s place has delicious food and wonderful service. I got the super burrito and it was one of the biggest burritos I’ve gotten. You can’t pick it up. My waitress Emily had impeccable timing and a friendly demeanor. I came at 11 am so it wasn’t very crowded which I enjoyed.

Charlie’s Place is awesome! My wife and I went here after hanging out with a friend. We wanted to grab a drink before dinner and low and behold it was wing Wednesday! The hot wings were 50cents each, so we ordered 12! ½ traditional and ½ bbq. They were very good, I do love me some hot wings. We also ordered steak nachos, and my wife really wanted to get a ‘loaded corona’, basically a corona beer with a shot of tequila in it($ 6, a little pricey). Their happy hour is crazy, it is practically all night 3 – 9 or 6 – 9 or something, I can’t remember… I’ve lived less a mile away for almost 2 years and can’t believe this is the first time I’ve been here. Definitely a spot to check out, different happy hour specials everyday! Will be back soon! Signing Off, Bretzlaf

I probably wouldn’t come here if it weren’t for the Sunday $ 14 bottomless mimosas from 10am-2pm. I mean that’s a pretty unbeatable price for am alcohol in this town. But none of the food really stands out. I enjoy their chicken dishes the best, like the chicken quesedilla, chicken sandwich, and the Chinese chicken salad. The waitresses are all fine. Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either. Shout out to Jera because she always seems to be there. YOUDOYOUGIRL. Anyway, I’ll continue to come back for the mimosas, but probably wouldn’t come to mind to recommend if someone were asking for exceptional food.

Not sure how I feel about this place. The food I ate was tasty but there were a ton of issues going on here. They messed up I believe 3 out of 5 orders, it took about 50 minutes to get our food, and even when they brought us new food, one of them was still wrong. Their intentions are good but poorly executed. It seems like a place that frequently gets busy so they should be able to handle it.

Our great casual spot by the house. They serve all three meals of the day well and have a full bar with daily drink specials. The food is always good, familiar, and done right. They fry up their chips fresh which IMO is a rare gem these days when indulging in some good old chips and salsa. Ask for the HOT salsa, the regular is just that and the hot follows suite. Wing Wednesday’s can get busy with the students around so we get it to go, which is still pretty quick. Sunday’s is bottomless mimosas, get there early before the football starts and it’s not as busy. They basically have deals most days of the week including taco Tuesday’s. The chili verde fries are a nice change, burgers are good, and let’s just say I have yet to dislike any of my meals there. It’s a solid go to almost anytime.

Charlies Place is awful. How it has such a high star count is beyond me. Last i went, there was hardly anyone there. My friends, fiancé, and i all went for happy hour. The waitress who took our order was using a app on her phone and couldn’t seem to figure it out. I asked her if a drink was on special(in front of four other people). She said yes, then charged us full price. When i asked her about it, she said she didn’t say that(news flash: the same four people heard you say it). The food was not that great, just average for this kind of place. It took a bit coming out, which was weird, considering besides us, there was basically no one there, minus the waitstaff and two people who walked in after our food was given to us. But after what had happened with the drinks, we tipped her nothing and left, and wont be returning.

Super cool place. The food was great and they had a diverse menu. Staff was friendly/attentive. Chips were freshly fried. The breakfast was really good. Only downside was it took extremely long for the food to get to us, and while I’m sure the whole placing the order through the phone causes less error, it just forms a disconnect and feels a little colder in regards to the overall vibe.

Okay place. Got the chips and salsa at happy hour, $ 2, freshly fried which was nice, pretty bland, but at least fresh salsa. Got the taco and enchilada plate; similar to the salsa, it was fairly good, just on the bland side. My wife got chile verde tostada, a little more flavorful there, but a again very mild, but fresh and good, but not great. Seems like maybe they’re trying to cater to people who want very mild flavors. Slightly overpriced, but that’s par for San Luis. Nice wait staff, clean place, good beer selection, didn’t have to wait to sit.

We came here to watch the World Cup game and it had a great atmosphere. A lot of TVs, full bar, and a nice open area. As far as the food and service it was average. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito which has hashbrowns, eggs, and chorizo in it. The hashbrowns were a little over cooked and there was only a couple bites with chorizo. The bartender placed our orders as soon as we got there but after that we didn’t see or hear much from her.

Was excited try this place after my kids soccer games. Would liked to be able to comment on the food, but we were never seated. After waiting 20 minutes, the hostess sat two of her friends who showed up after us at a table for four that was empty from the time my party of four walked in the door. Additionally, it was a Wednesday night at 7:30pm and the it felt like a Saturday night with drunk frat boys flipping eachother off and yelling«hey Mother F#@&%#» to eachother across the room in front of me and my two young sons. We opted to go to Pappy McGregor’s instead and will not be going back to Charlie’s place. PS, isn’t Chile Verde by definition green chile?

The chile verde burrito is delicious and loaded with meat. I also had the bacon cheeseburger which was also satisfying. The burrito is a must! :) Update! Came in for dinner and had an amazing torta and nachos. They run happy hour m-f from 4pm-9pm. The food is so good. I find it weird how people say it’s not good Mexican food, the torta and nachos were pretty same amazing. We will be back for sure!

The short: Casual bar/sports game/tv eatery A really good place for college students to grab a bite to eat after a long day of school or just to relax and hangout. Several tvs adorn the walls and pitchers of beer abound! The servers were attentive and friendly, which I always appreciate. I came once with friends, sat at that bar, and ordered their nachos. It came with meat which I loved! 1 order of nachos during happy hour with big servings = 1 happy stomach ^^ I also ordered some happy hour special tacos. They ran out of one type of meat, so I substituted it for another, but I still didn’t fancy any of their tacos. It was a soft shell and was missing the zing that usually comes with tacos. Another time I came here, I ordered the bison?(maybe it was buffalo) burger. I think I need a more refined palette to distinguish it between regular beef patties. But there wasn’t anything too special about the burger. I heard that their Sunday bottomless mimosas are fantastic! I’ll have to come back for that(and the nachos!)
