Love the surf atmosphere and the amazing sandwiches. SLO has so many good sandwich shops and they are all unique and delicious in their own way. Kona’s has really good sweet white bread and their sandwiches are really big. Super good fresh avocado and turkey too!

A really, really good deli. I know there are a ton in SLO but I like the location of this one. The parking lot is not the best but can’t blame Kona for that. I just recently started coming here and wonder why I didn’t come here more often in the early years of college. It’s got a cool, relaxed theme here. I never stay to eat but I am very happy with the sizes of the subs. Pretty darn huge. I have always been happy with the amount and quality of food to the price. Very clean, friendly staff, and delicious ingredients. I prefer to call have my subs for dinner/late afternoon. So instead of showing up last minute to order, I call ahead and they make it so I can just be in and out. Just a courtesy thing I think they appreciate. They have a military discount as well(don’t know how much).

Tuesday, 6:30PM. Quickie: + Food quality — Hygiene — Customer service + Turnaround + Chill vibe And then??? Kona’s has etched itself a niche in the subway sandwich scene. I visit after a workout and need a ginormous replenishment. ********** Constructive comments: *Option to compost *Source ingredients

The Food: Deli style sandwiches with many different meats, cheeses and toppings. The portions are huge. I recommend the Beach Break Sandwich or the Full Boat… Warning the Full is massive, its technically 4 meals… but if you are hungry, you can eat it. All meats and cheese are cut on order. People tend to complain that the sandwiches tend to be just bread but I don’t think so… They have beers and sodas and small selection of chips. The Restaurant: It has a chill hawaiian vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, people normally take them to go. The parking is decent but can get crowded during busy hours. The Service: The girls are really nice and love to talk to you. They will make it the way you want. Its clean and quick.

Kona’s is my favorite sandwich shop of all time. And their employee Lilly makes the experience even better!

Konas is a SLO classic sandwich shop that has been around forever. Every sandwich I have ever had there has been great but can’t compare to High Street Deli. The wait is never too bad and the prices are very reasonable.

For me this is the best sandwich shop in town and you know in SLO you have a lot of choiches! I know that the most popular sandwich is the destroyer but I prefer to order a different sandwich everytime, a half sandwich fill me up! I like this place because it’s really clean and you can see the sandwich maker who slice meats and cheese right in front of you when you place the order so you know It’s fresh. If you have a chance you should try the avocado spread, it’s delicious! Definetely my to go spot!

Choices and service are still good. The one thing I would change is — their dutch crunch bread is not crunchy at all. Please review the name of this bread, Kona’s…

Great experience. My Husband loves sandwiches and I don’t as much but this was pretty good. Loved the atmosphere for a casual experience. The two girls working were cheerful and seemed to want to give good service. We both got a Full sandwich which is 12 inches. I really only needed a quarter of it. For two 12″ sandwiches and one 32oz drink we paid $ 17.00 .

I used to go here all the time when I was in undergrad at Cal Poly and it never failed. The sandwiches are massive and they have great meat combinations — especially the destroyer.

This place really depends on the day. Sometimes it’s really good sometimes it’s not as good. Generally would recommend this place however.

I snagged a sandwich from Kona’s today and I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve been here more than a few times. Up until this point, the sandwiches have been fine, but the sandwich today was a huge miss. Even though it is gluten-free bread, it should not break and crumble as pathetically as it did – total mess! The bread practically crumbled to ashes when I touched it. I opted for a veggie sandwich – the add-ons and veggies were very sparse and sloppily put on. Overpriced, too. As dramatic as it sounds, I did end up throwing the sandwich directly in the trash, because it was sadly uneatable and completely not worth eating. There are many other sandwich options in the area, so I will not be going back to Kona’s. Lesson learned.

This place has great sandwiches and the prices are the best in SLO. They cut the meat and cheese right in front of you for your sandwich so you know its fresh. A great thing to mention is: i like shredded lettuce and a few weeks ago they switched to leaf lettuce because its less messy and easier for them, but when i told the owner i missed the shredded lettuce he started ordering it again and all you have to do as a customer is request it. that is a little thing but makes a big difference to me just to show that they care about keeping their customers happy!

This place satisfies my sandwich cravings. I tried their Kona club on ciabatta with the works, plus tomato and managed to put this thing down to write a review. Their staff was exceptionally friendly and patient as I ordered and while there was no one else in the restaurant, I had my order within minutes. The price, quality, and customer service is right exceptional.

I recently came here with a friend who makes it a goal to come down to SLO twice a year to only eat the Destroyer and then return home. I have a few food places that I would drive 3 hours for so I understood that this place had to be something special. What I didn’t realize was how special it actually was. I came in with absolutely no expectations. All I wanted to see was my friend delightfully stuff the Destroyer into this mouth and drift off into a food coma of awesome. I didn’t expect myself to feel dreamy and sleepy after just half a sandwich. I never knew Turkey, Provolone and Avocado could be so beautiful. The amount of avocado they slathered on(it looked like it was just smashed up avocado and not that weird gunky avocado stuff they use at Subway) was delectable. I felt my mouth watering with excitement as the employee cut the meat right in front of me. Little did I know that if the sandwich looks good that means it tastes fantastic.(Frequenting Subway can often screw up your mindset). My sandwich was fresh, filling and delicious. My only review of the Destroyer was that it is a ‘meat lovers paradise and nothing else matters.‘ The place was spotless and very well organized. You could tell the owner takes a lot of pride in it’s appearance and presentation. The employees were amazing. It was refreshing to be helped by knowledgeable staff who were quick, amazingly attentive and very friendly. I mean, these two women deserve medals for being amazing at their jobs. I wish I had caught their names or else I’d give them a shout out. I will definitely be coming back. You can’t put that much avocado on a sandwich with no extra charge and not expect me to. On another note, two full sandwiches with two small drinks cost me $ 25.25 for anyone who wanted an idea for pricing for more than one person.

With such great sandwich joints in SLO(High Street, Gus’s) I just find no reason to return to this establishment. Came here for lunch on a Saturday and there were one or two tables with customers. I got their new sandwich«The Shore» which was on focaccia bread. I personally think focaccia is better served toasted or warm. I asked for sprouts in my sandwich but the amount they gave was extremely sparse and barely noticeable. Service was friendly but the quality of the sandwich was just not up to par.

This is a great place for a quick yet healthy sandwich. Super friendly staff as well. Since they make the sandwiches to order you can easily customize to your liking. Highly recommend whether you are a local or just visiting. The owner takes great pride in how this place is run.
