This place might be good in Fresno, but the SLO location is below mediocre. The bread tasted stale, the slice of liverwurst was a micron thin, very little pastrami and they actually took one small slice of swiss cheese and cut in half to put one tiny piece on each half sandwich. The pastrami didn’t have much flavor, but then again there was so little of it that all I could taste was bread. The customer service was fairly nonexistent. I will not be going back. Von’s does a better job.

Fantastic sandwiches! We had the hot pastrami and the Marco Polo and they we’re both amazing. Nice clean facility. Friendly service. I can’t wait to try the pastas!

I was really looking forward to trying this new-ish deli out. It turned out to be a real disappointment and I doubt I’ll give them another try. First off, when i pulled in the parking lot there was a deli server standing right outside the back door smoking and scowling. She ended up being the one who made my sandwich. Gross. I sure hope she washed her hands first. I ordered the small corned beef with swiss on sourdough and a bag of chips. The cashier was nice but *ouch*, just a few cents under $ 10 for a small sandwich and small bag of Lays. Thankfully she offered me a free cup of water. Service was fast but the place was pretty empty. And now for the reason I came in… the deli sandwich. Drumroll… meh. Bummer! First of all it came on a french roll(not the sourdough I ordered) and was lacking the peppers I asked for. Secondly, except for the yellow mustard and pickles, there was no taste to the sando at all. The corned beef could have been from Ralph’s for all I know; it was flavorless. Cheese was OK but on the flavorless side too. It was really hard for me to enjoy my lunch because I felt ripped off. Just like most of the new restaurants on Monterey in «uptown SLO», Piemonte’s is overpriced and geared toward the professional office-types. For a deli sandwich in SLO, I’d way rather go to High Street, Lincoln or Gus’(in that order). You get way more for your money at all three of those places, plus the food just tastes better. And finally, as I walked back to my car, I saw an owner or manager woman(I could tell based on how she was talking to the cashier earlier) also standing in the same spot smoking a cigarette. YUCK!!! I really think Piemonte’s needs to create a hidden spot for their employees to smoke and lower their prices by a buck or two if they want to make a go in SLO.

Really happy with our meal here. Got three sandwiches; the Piemonte special, the New York style pastrami and the roast beef; the pastrami and roast beef were just great, could have had a few more vegetables, but that would have made it harder to eat. Good amount of meat and very good bread. The Piemonte was the worst of the three, more because the other two were so good, but it was a good classic Italian cold cut sandwich; I think I just only like this style of sandwich so much. Then got ravioli with pesto sauce; this was very good, not the best ever, but for a deli very good and far better than I would expect from a deli. The garden salad was also very good with a good balance of lettuce and other toppings. The cherry on top though was the tiramisu! Had very low expectations and maybe that helped, but it really was just a great tiramisu. That’s my favorite Italian desert and I’m pretty picky about details and this one was just very well done and tasty. They also carry a variety of pre-made pastas, sauces and sausages that looked very good. Also had some canned goods and a full service deli. Will definitely be going back here to try those. Really hope this place stays around. San Luis Obispo is kind of a sandwich town and to stay in business you’ve gotta be very good; I think high street deli is the only competition in town though for best sandwich with this place.

Just went there the other day and had the Piemonte Special sub and some macaroni salad. The sub was so big that it turned out to be two meals. Delicious lunch!

Great new little Italian Deli in SLO, large selection of meats and cheeses including imports(the real European imports). Fantastic Italian deli style sandwiches, 5 and 8 inch. Everything so far has been great, bread, meats and cheese and a nice drink selection. These are the sandwiches I think of when I think Italian deli, light wonderful white bread roll, great quality meat and cheese, topped with shredded lettuce and tomato, olive oil, vinegar salt and pepper. They have take out dinner options to, haven’t tried yet, but short list reminded me of the early days of another local restaurant …(Hint: MMB) Add this spot to your lunch or early dinner option in town! But they are not open late. Update: Feb 2016 after many more stops, store and deli purchases, I really love this place. Consistently excellent sandwich, but also great deli meats, cheese, home style marinated artichokes(water packed so lighter) with in house spicing and olive oil(yum!). Also frozen ravioli, marinara and vodka sauce — lot of stuff a easy home dinner. Beef ravioli with marinara was excellent. And a little food store focusing on pasta and canned Italian products. Love this place!!!

DELICIOUS!!! I had the Michel Angelo sandwich with oil, vinegar & oregano and hubby ordered the Piemonte special. Clean place, added more tables for those who stated minimal seating. Lots of options!!!

Ummmm, can I just move it? This place is Italian deli heaven! So many amazing sandwiches to choose from! Sausages, meats, imported & domestic. Cheese! OMG cheese! and Holy Canoli! Crème’ Brulee, cheesecake, tiramisu, fresh pastas, fresh pizza dough, gelato, and italitian products. The only«con» of this place is that it is not located in Paso Robles. They would do amazing here. Other than that, I can’t wait to come back and try one of the many many delicious sounding sandwiches, purchase some sausage, and cheese. I highly recommend.

In a crowded town with lots of deli options, I now have a favorite. Piemonte’s has great deli sandwiches with ample parking! They have a good selection deli meats, which are high quality and service good. The one thing that would make my review a 5 would be non-shredded lettuce. I’m not a fan of shredded lettuce.

Avoid the hot sandwiches, got a roast beef. It was all bread hardly any meat at all. It was just microwaved sliced deli meat. $ 8.75??? What a joke. The owners seemed nice enough hence the 2 instead of 1 star. If you are the owner and read this, visit Mr. pickles and see what they are giving for less. It is easily twice the sandwich.

I miss Muzios in SLO for sure, and Piedmontes is a close second to them. Good sandwiches, poor seating and the price is a little shocking when ordering 3 sandwiches. But the food seem rather good even though I’m no expert on what great Italian food should be. This isn’t a place I would eat at every day due to the price, but it would be great on occasion… and if they had better seating.

Our favorite deli in Fresno has opened in SLO, where we haven’t been able to find our favorite cold-cut until now!!! We’ve been making stops here since they opened a few months ago! We love their deli offerings, meats and cheese, specialty Italian foods, frozen Raviolis, tortellini, ect. Gelato(from a local Gelato maker in Paso — coffee is yum!), and more!!! There is seating outside and maybe inside eventual?! But we load up and love taking our groceries home!

The food here is pretty decent. I like the thought of having an Italian Deli in SLO. It’s long over due to say the least. I had the Italian sausage sandwich. The sausage had good flavor. Needed a little more sauce I thought. It was quite pricey. Would have been a better value if it came with chips. or a pickle or something. There was very little seating. Once we got our food, there was nowhere to sit. There are only 3 tables outside and they were full. I would have to say there was a good 10 to 15 customers here. There is PLENTY of room for additional table outside and on the inside. That being said, I would say to give this place a try, but plan on taking it with you due to the lack of seating. 4 Stars if not for that! Good luck!

New year… New me… Gonna eat healthy and exercise more and lose weight and… wait…what’s this? A real, authentic Italian delicatessen in SLO? Love me some Italian cold cuts! Heck, I teethed on mortadella as a baby. O. K…I’ll try it once… I’m sure it’ll just be ok. I take my first bite and it transforms me back to my childhood. This is the way an authentic Italian sub should be(sans mustard and mayo, though). A perfect sandwich. O.K…I’ll start my diet in 2016.

Finally… an Italian Deli in SLO! This place is brand new, and it’s pretty clear they are still trying to get things rolling smoothly, but hey, I came for food, right? That’s what they do, and they do it very very well. If you’re looking for an authentic style Italian sandwich, this is the place to go. It’s a nice change from the million other delis in the area, and very reasonably priced. Check it out!

My favorite authentic Italian delicatessen has finally moved to the central coast! Whether you’re looking for a great sandwich, ingredients for a fantastic meal or pre-made lasagna, this is the only place to go in town. I love this place!

First impressions of Piemonte’s, a new Italian deli in SLO. Piemonte’s is a welcomed addition to SLO, as Muzio’s closed a few years back, and The Broad Street Grinder has a bit of an unpleasant attitude about it. The shop part of the deli seems to have fresh pastas, sauces, pizza dough, canned Italian tomatoes/peppers/olives, dry pastas, Italian sodas, packaged sweets and breadsticks, etc. The deli case has many types of cheeses, domestic and imported meats, salads(such as macaroni/potato/pasta), pasta dishes(like lasagna), and desserts like tiramisu and cheesecake. With the deli having opened only recently, they appear to be working out their operations. It was a little confusing in there. There were a lot of staff and plenty of real estate inside, but no real flow. They haven’t worked out the standard SLO method of ordering sandwiches as yet, which is a table area with pre-fab fill out forms. So they have the sandwich ordering at the cash register, I guess. But they also have a deli working with customers, but I’m not exactly sure who was responsible for what. I happened to be in there when the place was fairly unpopulated, so there was a lot of staff and few customers, but the staff didn’t seem very focused on any one thing. The take-away menu may need a bit of retooling, and the sandwiches reorganized into better groups of items that flow better. It seems like it’s just randomly put together. The items could also be described a little better, rather than 1 line for«Hot Sandwiches». The menu on the wall at the deli had no prices, so I had to pick up the take-away menu to find out what the prices were of the sandwiches. As for the sandwiches. Currently most of them are priced under $ 9, and they use around an 8 inch roll. They were filled and topped well, and wrapped very tight. I found the speed from order to delivery very good, about 10 minutes, but there were also not many customers in at the time. We ordered Capicolla, Turkey Avocado, and Meatball. The capicolla and provolone, and turkey with avocado sandwiches were very good. Meats were tasty, cheese was vibrant, and shredded lettuce and vegetables were fresh. The meatballs were tender and tasty, and the melted provolone and marinara tasted of good quality. This also had green bell peppers inside. The bread– When ordering, they did not extend an offer of choice of bread, although reading the menu it appears they have wheat, sour and french rolls. All of the sandwiches were delivered on a french roll with sesame seeds. For the cold sandwiches, this worked out okay. I have had better breads at other shops in town, and this may be the one weak spot in the sandwiches for me. Personally, we were not fond of the sesame seeded rolls, and found the seeds quite distracting on the cold sandwiches. However, on the meatball sandwich, the soft french roll with sesame seeds completely missed the mark. The bread after 10 minutes of travel, being wrapped in foil, had completely gone mushy. The flavor of the bread did not enhance the ingredients inside, and was a poor pairing. If the hot sandwich came on a crusty style roll, it would have probably paired much better with the hot ingredients. I think the place is a good addition to a growing list of restaurants(such as the very good Santa Cruz taqueria) in the Monterey/Johnson area. Hopefully Piemonte’s gets their operational issues in order, and organize in a helpful and friendly way. My only gripe about what I experienced was hot ingredients and soft bread, but that may simply be a personal preference.
