This has to be one of the best Denny’s I’ve been to. I’ve only gone to Denny’s in Washington and the services has been so subpar. The Denny’s in SLO is a define five star. Everyone is so nice and the food is delicious. I’ve never had a bad experience at this Denny’s and the waitresses have always been so sweet and kind.

Bad service. Rude waitresses. Didn’t have either item i wanted in stock. Miserably cold and very dirty. Bathrooms were horrid. Ended up sick and miserable. Dont go here unless you like stomach flu.

Poor food at Denny’s tonight. The food didn’t look or taste like the menu showed. The cook didn’t know the basic needs to prepare Two pics

Great place for breakfast if you get the right one. Ordered biscuits and gravy, in the past all has been great, however this time, no so good! The gravy was white water and just as thin. I asked the waitress if I could get thicker gravy, her answer was no. Not only no, she indicated she was not the cook and could ask him to fix this issue. I hope the 50 cent tip helped her see, «the customer is always right»

I think it’s fair to say one doesn’t come to Denny’s for the quality/freshness of the food. In fact it’s pretty damn unhealthy. But aside from that, I usually come here for several reasons: it’s open 24/7, free wifi, free coffee refills($ 2.25 for a cup of coffee), and some electrical outlets are there. It’s a great place to study at night and some Cal Poly students can be seen studying there. When SloDoCo gets busy I come here. A couple things that I wish they could improve: the cleanliness of the floors under the booths and bathroom. One night I found a needle cap in one of the bathroom stalls and just a huge mess underneath the urinals. Part of the problem is that Denny’s is open 24/7, so from time to time they get druggies, transients, pimps/hoes coming in-and-out late at night. To their credit though, the Denny’s manager always uses his own discretion when letting suspicious folks inside. Obviously if someone is trouble they don’t let them come back in again and they aren’t shy about refusing service to weirdos. But at the same time, the restaurant attracts all sorts of people because of its 24⁄7 feature. But it also attracts lots of college kids and other regular, mentally stable people too. So it’s not as bad as it sounds. Friday, Sat, Sun nights you’ll probably see people that are drunk, high, etc. So good quiet nights prob will be Mon-Thurs if you are a late-night studier. The iHop beats them food wise I think, but iHop closes at 9:30? And I don’t think they are as welcoming to students as Denny’s is. :/

My wife and I stopped in for a snack and ordered a quesadilla and a sundae. For some strange reason, the waitress brought us the ice cream first. We went ahead and ate it and waited nearly half an hour more for the quesadilla to arrive. The restaurant was hardly busy, with maybe 5 total tables being served, and we waited nearly 30 minutes for a tortilla with cheese in it. Furthermore, my wife and I waited an additional 15 minutes for the check, which usually comes right as you’re finishing, but finally decided to go up to the register and pay there. To top things off(or not to), our waitress never refilled our waters during our stay. The only positive thing to say about this visit was that the food was very good.

ordered a grandslam. they brought out the sunny side up egg before the toast. didn’t worry too much, i asummed it’d follow pretty quickly– who would give you a sunny side up egg without toast, right? wrong. my gf and i picked at everything(which was not a lot btw, portions seemed to have shrunk at this location), we didnt want to go all in until we had our toast. waited a good, unbelievable five full minutes before we could even get a waiter’s attention. they said it was coming. ive worked as a waiter before so i knew to look for a ticket in the window– looked and saw literally none. i DID however see a plate. a plate without a ticket? had to figure it was our toast. 5 minutes late. unfortunately i didn’t look until after the waiter walked away. i don’t like being rude or pushy because i know what it’s like being on the other end of that. my plan was to wait for our original waiter to check in on us. didn’t see her for another good 5 full minutes AGAIN. she popped out of the back with a register. apparently she’d been back there closing the register for her shift and didn’t ask anyone to check on her tables because why would she, there were no tickets in the window and everyone forgot about our toast. at this point i also noticed new waiting staff, and our waiter clocking out. i was livid. i waited to see if someone would come check on us or to ask the chefs who the toast was for, maybe flip through the old tickets. nope, all they did was stand and make jokes with their hands in their apron pockets. we had finished most of our food at this point, being 15 minutes into our meal so i finally get up and ask them to give me the toast in the window which we proceeded to eat luke warm and floppy with our cold egg. i couldnt even complain there because it was new staff. they weren’t responsible. so i came to Unilocal to vent instead. i have never seen wait staff or chefs that unattentive before. i couldn’t believe it. it’s not in me to not tip, so i tipped still, which made me even more bitter. poor poor experience. shoulda went to ihop next door EDIT– wow, just read a review about the staff loudly bragging to some customers that they had refused to serve a gay couple earlier and kicked them out! my heart is racing right now because when i came here i was here with my partner, i didn’t know we should have been fearing for our lives at the hands of the wait staff here. that’s so awful and sad what they did and how they celebrated it. how hateful and mean spirited i also read this place caught fire once before and has to close down. they should never have re-opened. horrible horrible place.

The food here at this dennys really sucks. I know the food is all frozen but it really was frozen when it came to our plate, so cold! All the portions were really small and we asked for a very simple substitution offering to pay more and the guy said he can’t do it even though I’ve gotten this same substitution a million times at many other dennys. Honestly the best food were the pre bottled hot sauces and the water. Seems like a pretty clean place with nice people around. But honestly one of he worst dennys I have been to. If you want defrosted food that’s half way cooked with really small portions, this is the place.

I came here this Christmas eve night to eat, and I’m sorry but all I have to say is that the food here is REALLY nasty. The pancakes are gross. They are hard and dry. The bacon was bad too. The hash browns were very greasy, they tasted old and over cooked. The hash browns tasted like they were made yesterday and were warmed up in the microwave today. The hot chocolate is plain disgusting. Yuck! The food is very poor here.

Last night me and some friends went for an after dinner grub. My name is Marco and I’ve been managing a restaurant for over 6 years and serving for over 10. This is my first review I have ever post but last night was a really bad experience at this location. Martha«the manager» seems to be by far the laziest manager I’ve seen, the server Elsa had about 7 tables most of them came all at once and the manager sitting down didn’t seem to do anything to help her out, in fact she was just criticizing the waitress remarking that she couldn’t handle the job and yelling at her that her food was up constantly, this got me really mad because the waitress is an older lady! When I first arrived to the restaurant the manager was smoking outside of the door with another waitress that had just clocked out and that to me doesn’t bring a good experience to the restaurant ‘come on at least follow the rules 20 feet’. Then the waitress that was clocked out went into her car and changed to flip flops(open toe sandals) and came back into the restaurant. Later she went back to the kitchen line and helped herself with a full plate of food as the manager was looking and didn’t moved a finger except to be on her cell phone and flirting with the cook! This by far was my worst restaurant experience I really hope she gets demoted from her charge and CO of this big chain puts more cameras of their locations to protect employees from these lazy and not so responsible managers! By the way Elsa the waitress, was excellent! Looks like shes new but Hard worker!

Had breakfast today. Took 30 minutes to get our food. Saw our food sitting under heat lamp for 10 minutes. Manager would not help understaffed help. Servers even had to do the cash register. When we received our food some was incorrect and cold. Server didn’t seem to care. Not the first time at this location I just finally thought I needed to write a review. If vacationing highly recommended Franks Famous Hotdogs. Great breakfast and Awesome burgers.

I am a foodie. I love how restaurants work. I love seeing everything work in sync. I will never give a restaurant negative stars for trying their hardest. It’s 1am right now, a 20 top walked in and there are about 10 four tops in the building. The manager and two servers are working their butts off right now to keep this place running. I asked if I could help expo but she wouldn’t give me a shirt, understandable, she doesn’t know who I am but it was worth a try. Having been in this situation before I would have called more staff in or maybe had the dishwasher help? Hey it’s not my restaurant but I do commend everyone for working their hardest. Keep it up and I’m proud of your teamwork. I wish I could have helped :)!!!

I just love the ladies who work at this Denny’s! We can into town very late on a Wednesday night… three very hungry children in tow. They took one look at our cranky, hungry, crowd and opened up the back section to seat us in… away from people that the kids would annoy. I really appreciate this… there is nothing worse than other patrons glaring at you because your kids are annoying. And after 7 plus hours in a car… they were in prime annoying mode. We were brought our drinks quickly, the waitress was very friendly and joked with the kids while getting their orders. Our food came quickly also and was nice and hot. These folks just made a really long day so much nicer!

Came in at 6:30AM on a Monday to grab some food to go before work. It was clean, brightly lit, and calm inside. 4 booths quietly occupied, and Carly was working the front. She was cheery and attentive and took my order quickly, recommending the $ 2, $ 4, $ 6, $ 8 value menu. My food was out in less than a few minutes, and I was on my way! The pancakes were good, even more so when you consider they were only $ 2! Definitely will become part of my morning routine.

I am a huge fan of Denny’s and i really wanted to come here today! However, i was about as satisfied with the food as i would be if a lawnmower cut off my foot. We got seated promptly enough. They came and took my drink orders and food orders. Food came in a prompt manner. My friend received a dirty coffee cup. It was stained on the outside as it had not been washed recently. YUCK. My friends bacon was cold. She was not all about«causing a scene» so i took the initiative to complain and get her fresh bacon. When they came back, they had not rang the grease out of the bacon. Yuck. My food was pretty good, except my toast was soggy. It could be noted that the service was subpar. I had to ask repeatedly to get a refill on my water. Overall, i think this was just a badly managed location, and does not overall reflect the chain as a whole. It is definitely my favorite breakfast chain, just maybe skip the San Luis Obispo location in favor of Panera Bread down the street.
