Walked in at 3pm. No one around, no other patrons, noticed dirty plates on tables, music blaring, almost walked out but someone came from back to take our order. Got order. Hmmm. Food Luke warm, plates visibility dirty with someone else’s food. Did I mention flies? Well yes, flies. Would I go back? Only with SLO County Health Department by my side. Go ahead, check my review! I hope I’m wrong and it was a bad day.

I am a 12 year old girl and Pluto’s was a great spot for my family to get lunch. They have a kids menu that has many great choices such as mac and cheese, grilled cheese and tri-tip steak. I highly recommend the mac and cheese. It is super creamy and homemade. We were going on a roadtrip and were passing through SLO on our way down the coast. We stopped and ate at Pluto’s. It was so good that on our way back up to the bay area we ate there again! A+ for Pluto’s!

4* Food was tasty(but cold, including my made-to-order steak.) 4* for the friendliness of the staff. No stars for the flies flying around the kitchen, around the food you’re ordering and around your plates as you are eating. No stars for the sticky tabletops. My BF was so excited about stopping here for dinner; enroute toward home. I so did not want to burst his bubble, but he told me after we left that he was also disappointed with his own plate. He likes food not quite as piping hot, but he still thought his food choices were all cold. And everything was too spicy for him. He noticed the flies too, but didn’t want to be openly rude. I was turned off by the flies, so I thought the freshly grilled steak would be safest since the raw meat was not left out for easy fly access. It was just disappointing that it was cold. It would have been much better piping hot.

We walked in an hour til close… The girl at the food stations was uninterested in customer service, the other guys seemed to go out of their way a little more. I was hoping for fresh and healthy, but everything we were served was cold or room temp at best. Unsurprisingly, my whole family got food poisoning. Someone please send in the health dept so they can make some changes

Pretty much amazing! Great prices for downtown. Wow I’m impressed. The build your own sandwich or salad is a great deal. Less thanks $ 10 for a great meal. They also have delicious made from scratch sides like mash potatoes… mmmm. Definitely the best place in town to have fresh, healthy, and delicious food for a great deal.

Stumbled across this place in SLO, but it turns out it it a bit of a chain, this being the southern-most link. The ambience is clean and friendly, the food is remarkably fresh and reasonably priced. The celestial theme is fun. It would probably take a few visits to figure out what is best, but it all looks wonderful!

if this is san luis obispo’s best salad, i have serious concerns for SLO’s cuisine standards. great intention, terrible execution. my salad was was overdressed and undertossed. the boyfriend ordered steak medium rare, it came out well done and cold. this is one of the only times Unilocal led me astray. i will try to keep it from doing the same to you!

I had a really nice Summer Solstice salad with homemade raspberry walnut vinaigrette and without feta. I also added chickpeas! Yum! It was really fresh and yummy. I loved the combo of kale, mixed greens, quinoa, peaches, strawberries, dried cranberries and sweet walnuts. My favorite ingredients to put in a salad basically! I got sourdough bread on the side but the focaccia bread looked better, I’d get that one next time! My hubby had a chicken sandwich with a side of Brussel sprouts he really enjoyed. There was no wait to order the food, lots of staff and the interior is super clean. I definitely recommend going for a healthy lunch with lots of customizable options!

Pretty much 100% of what you’d want in an awesome salad! The design-your-own and pre-engineered salads both give you tons of options. Perfect place for vegetarians and meat-eaters like! Crazy fresh ingredients, homemade dressings, large portions but reasonable prices, the option of extras for a minimal amount more, friendly service. The sandwiches and desserts, which we didn’t try, also look out of this world. Nice work Pluto’s! Only con is that they are slow in busing the tables. It wasn’t crazy crowded so I suppose they can wait, but when you’re sitting in close proximity to a dirty table for half an hour it’s a bit unappetizing.

Love Plutos — the restaurant décor and food is great. Service is really bad — staff has no clue what the other one is doing, bumping into each other behind the counter. No team work or flow. It took 30 minutes to get 2 salads to go. The SF location is fast and efficient — the SLO location needs major training for their staff.

Found this little spot on Unilocal while shopping in San Louis Obispo. It is a build your own salad(7 toppings of your choice) or build your own sandwich restaurant. The ingredients are extremely fresh and a huge variety of greens and topping choices. Meats are available to top your salad for a additional charge. There are lots of sides eg. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, rice etc… My wife and I both opted for salads and were not disappointed. We got macaroni and cheese for the baby(did I mention the best Mac and cheese either of us had ever tried?) awesome food, awesome price!!! Thanks Unilocal for the tip!

Pluto’s is the perfect spot for a healthy, delicious, and affordable meal in SLO. I had dinner at this location about a year ago and returned this weekend with a friend. We both ordered entrée size salads with added protein for under $ 9.00! Many other salad chains in the Bay Area are double the price, so I consider Pluto’s a steal. They actually have a few additional locations in the Bay, but the San Luis Obispo location is definitely my favorite. In addition to salads, Pluto’s serves sandwiches, entrees, and side dishes. The entrees/sides are comfort style dishes such as steak, turkey, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and roasted veggies. I’ve only had the salads, but the other dishes seem to be very popular. It’s a great choice whether you’re looking for a hearty meal or light dinner. The food is solid, atmosphere is great, and the staff is friendly. Check it out if you’re in the area!

Stopped in SLO with some friends on the way back from a camp/conference. The interior design of the restaurant was attractive. While I can really only speak for the salad I ordered, my two friends who got sandwiches said they were very delicious. The interior aesthetic itself was very clean and quirky. The store had bought into the whole space/galaxy thing without making things look to childish or cheesy. The worker was very friendly and explained the different portion sizes and ordering system there(you have to hold on to the ticket they give you and turn it in at the checkout). I ordered a salad and it was constructed in subway/chipotle style. You choose a «base» and then get 7 toppings. I also added Steak(the other meat options are visible on the menu photo) and that was great. I got a Side(rather than Main) Salad but that was definitely enough PROS: #aesthetic, friendly & quick service, good portion sizes :), inexpensive CONS: bathroom is confusing to find: P SLO is a couple hours away from where I live so I was excited to find out there are several Pluto’s in SF(which is about 45−1hr. away). I’m definitely going back to try the sandwiches and some of the desserts

Stopped here after browsing Unilocal reviews. I was wanting a healthy dinner around 9pm and saw that it was 30 minutes til closing. I ended up getting a mac and cheese, chicken bacon sandwich, and a salad. Firstly, WOW the salad portion is HUGE. For someone who is indecisive with food, it took a while for me to accumulate my 7 toppings, but man, was it worth it! Their dressing was also delicious. My one problem was that the foccacia bread on the side was stale… probably because I came so late in the day. The mac and cheese was also very hearty, and the sandwich was also delicious. The prices were very reasonable. The place and atmosphere was also very laid-back, clean, and inviting. «A subway for salad» is the best way the employee described it. I really wish I had one of these where I live! Would definitely frequent this kind of venue if there was one around.

Pluto’s is an amazing restaurant if you are looking for a quick bite to eat without breaking the bank or looking for anything that isn’t too hearty. Their salad choices are phenomenal and offer quite the wide selection of mixed greens all the way to a romaine blend. On top of your salad either a side of full size, you are allotted a piece of bread and 7 toppings for your salad; however, meat(chicken, tri-tip, etc.) is an additional charge. A side salad tends to be plenty of food if you opt for all the side options and even add a couple more including a meat option for lunch. If you haven’t eaten all day and are running on an empty stomach, I would recommend going for the full salad option. If you are here with friends or family, they offer sides such as mash potatoes and french fries that I recommend as they are great for sharing!

This place is perfect! I was starving after a morning hike and bike ride. Plutos is just what the doctor ordered having large fresh portions! You can be super healthy with a custom salad or splurge with some of the more comforting protein + sides. The servers and cooks are super welcoming. I’ll be back tomorrow, for sure!

Stopped by as a recommendation by a friend who had been to the one in SF. She had a great experience so we gave it a shot. Came in with a group of friends. We all got something different. I got the Cozumel salad. It was pretty good and actually pretty big. I ended up having to share with two of my friends. Great service and I liked that the menu had a lot of different options.

We may have stopped in cause of the funny name but Don’t let the goofy sign deter u from entering cause the 4.5 is legit. I’d been craving beets n a boiled egg… Not necessarily together but, since I could, I didn’t wanna miss out on the opp. Ordered a small(I was starving but the large plate was too daunting to take on) Farmers choice salad n choice of seven options may sound like a lot(cause it is lol) but I was at seven before I knew it cause they’ve got a lot of good options, standard and premium. I went for the eggs, beets, squash, pumpkin, Apple, pear n fennel. No salad dressing, grabbed some lemons from the drink prep station —- drooooool. We also ordered the tri tip sandwich n side of mac n cheese was equally satisfying. Perfectly well balanced menu for veggie n meat eaters. My kinda place. They also had beer and a couple of wines to choose from. Surprisingly good which i honestly didn’t expect cause it was such a small selection. The atmosphere inside is also mismatched w what you’d expect from the signage cause its really clean, urbany, modern inside. Air conditioning was running high on the hot day so I had to pull my sweater on but it was Casual nice. Bathroom is shared w the building so it was ick…, avoid unless absolutely necessary kinda bathrooms, for the ladies anyway.
