Fry’s Electronics

Wanted to find out information for an item return that was not on their return policy. Called several times and could not go through. Was put into the «queue» from hell in which no one answers along with their annoying classical music and a voice that says, «We’ll be right with you». You’d think at least someone could answer the phone for a question, saving a long distant trip over there. But NO that is not the case.
Do yourself a favor, research what you want to buy and then buy on Amazon. Skip Fry’s all together, Store has slid down hill and not worth considering or your time.

Frys has everything and sometimes you need to return things but overall it’s been a good experience. Cheap wide selection. Some great deals. I would not recommend buying anything refurbished or repackaged as I have had trouble with those items.

Bought an LG washer on sale for $ 1,000 Four years ago. Thank heavens I bought the extended warranty (200.00 to 300.00 additional bucks) because it’s been totally re-​built. An entire new computer board is what the service repair person said. Now the hinges have almost totally rusted out. When we open it, it gives off rusted metal creaky sounds. Found out LG is a piece of garbage made in Korea. As far as the service at this store is considered… there is none thus the 1 star rating. Samsung steam dryer we bought at the same time is taking 4 times the amount of drying time. Our gas bill is thru the roof!!!

Very big inside. I used to come here often with my son so that we can look at the aquariums and play the Wii and other sample games whenever we were bored hanging at home. Also, they used to show movies on a flat screen. Didn’t see that anymore as I went in today… total bummer!
The return process is a bit of a process for cash transactions. You go to the returns area, get your item returned and a receipt which you have to take to the front registers in order to receive cash back. That means it can be a long wait possibly if lines are long. I don’t see why they can’t just do this at the returns area and save people time.
If not for the aquariums, this place would get a 2.5 stars for me. I don’t really buy electronics (that’s my hubby), but seems like their business is so full of unrelated items like water balloons and other junk?

Unfortunately I don’t frequent Fry’s much anymore. When they first opened, I used to love going in when I needed something for my computer or to browse TVs. Over the past year, I’ve seen customer service tank quite a bit. It’s difficult to find staff willing to assist you. I’ve walked aisles and aisles in search of help, with no luck and ended up just walking out. The last visit will be my last. My 17 yr old son was looking for new head phones for his computer. He walked up to a counter where there were 3 male employees chatting and laughing. He asked them to open the box for him to see if the headphones would be comfortable on his head. They looked at him like he was asking if he could have them for free. I watched from afar and was disgusted with the way they spoke to my son. Little did they know, my son had $ 500 in his wallet that he intended on spending there. After seeing their attitude and condescending behavior, I took my son to Best Buy and he spent all of his money there. There isn’t any excuse for that kind of customer service.

Been here 3 times and it has been the worst Frys I have ever been too. I walk around looking for my items, not ONE person greets me (besides the unhappy hostess) and EVERYONE I ask questions too it’s either not their department or they don’t know. Not sure who is hiring these people but this place is HORRIBLE on customer service. Wish I didn’t have to come back…

I used to wonder why people shop on Amazon and Ebay and online retailers. I’ve always been an «Instant Gratification» person and when I spend my cash I want my stuff NOW! Well… now I get it. Places like Fry’s and other brick and mortar stores are doing it to themselves.
I used to LOVE coming into Fry’s way back when it was Incredible Universe too and just spend a couple hours browsing and I’d always find something I wanted and occasionally something I didn’t know I wanted because I talked to the employees. Good luck with that now.
I came in looking for a printer… a lousy printer… that’s it. I went online, found what I wanted and was to zip into the store, grab a box off the self and get home to the joy of installation. Easy, right? WRONG!!! I make my way to the back of the store with not so much as eye contact from a Fry’s employee. When I arrive at the rear of the store where the computers and accessories are there are three Fry’s employees engaged in a rousing game of Grabass and since I now what I’m looking for I think little of it. I soon realize that there is no inventory on the floor and they’re stashed n the back where I’m forced to engage with one of the athletes still fully engrossed in their game… NO other customers, just the three white shirts and black ties. I decide to browse for a moment to see if there may be another model I’d like and to see which period the game was in and which of the three was in the lead. I got a look from all three of them at one point or another but that was it… it seems it must have been the playoffs or the Quiddich Cup because I was not going to get help from this department. Now maybe I’m a pain in the butt but I shouldn’t have to run you down to give you my money. after all this IS what you’re employed for. After about 10 – 12 minutes I just leave. Bye Felicia! On my way out the door (For the last time ever) I ask the gentleman at the podium checking receipts (or not checking as there aren’t any customers leaving with merchandise) if a manger was available and he called one over… who quickly dismissed the whole situation with a «I cant, I have to go do that thing by the place with the guy» without even hearing what the issue may be. I NOW see why people shop on line and now so do I. Fry’s… You’re dead to me!

I waited 15 minutes on the phone for somebody to pick it up, nobody pick up the phone, how can a company like this doesn’t have anymore even an operator to pick up the phone. Absolute worse you lost my business for life

Worse customer service I have ever encountered. When I finally got someone to assist us with the Bluetooth speakers he had no idea how they worked. We finally sold ourselves on two LEPA speakers, and although they worked fine I am still having difficulty getting the «Classic» Frys rebate. Actually the Rebate comes from LEPA I guess, but since Frys electronics failed in making sure their boxes had all the information required to get the rebate I am having difficulty. I attempted to contact Frys to see if they could help, but after being on hold for 45 min waiting for someone to pick up I gave up. The store is a 60 min drive from me so I didn’t want to drive all the way there just to hear they could not help. Assuming they had anyone qualified to assist customers there. I am DONE with Frys and their crappy rebates!!!

Did not honor their price match policy on ram, I wanted to buy some ram, but frys wouldn’t match amazons price. So I ordered from amazon. Customer service was rude and horrible, I’m the customer and I have the $$$, if I didn’t shop here u wouldn’t have a job., horrible. Customer disservice would b more accurate. Anyway people RAM on amazon is about 50% the price at frys.

Absolute worst customer service and return policy you could imagine. I returned a defective HDMI cable and they accused me of damaging it and would not return my money or provide a store credit.
I was treated to an illogical argument from the manager, who was willing to exchange the cable rather than give me store credit, this after I explained that I no longer needed a cable because I’d already purchased a replacement.
The manager chose to dig his heels in and stare me down rather than discuss my concerns. I felt like he was trying to intimidate me like this was a street fight. I was accused of damaging the product when in fact it was defective. Amazing what customers experience when you pay low hourly wages and hire thugs to manage your customer service department.
I asked the manager if they stand behind thier products, to which he responded, «we do, but yiu brought back a damaged cable.» WHAT?! IT WASN’T DAMAGED, IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I am finally done with Fry’s and anything associated with this trash heap of a retail store.
Done with Fry’s for life over a $ 30 cable!

The store is huge and is easy to get to different departments. I like that they have a café in the middle of the store, so if you are hungry during shopping you can grab a bite!
The prices are reasonable and selection is amazing. Prices are pretty competitive.

I’ve been going to Frys for forever! This time it was pretty bad though. I was looking for a pretty basic universal laptop charger and went over to where they are. The guy who helped me gave me the right wattage, but the none of the universal tips would fit my stupid HP laptop, so I came right back in, returned the first one, and went back and looked for another one. The guy that helped me the first time give me a different, lower wattage charger that wouldn’t charge the battery (which didn’t matter to me, I just needed it to turn on)
Anyways, I went to checkout and the line was so long. I waited a while before more workers came to checkout.
Went out and tried it with my laptop, and again, none of the universal heads fit for my laptop, so I went back in to return it again.
I wasn’t greeted at all, even though three people were standing at the computers. After a minute or two, a girl said Hi and then put the money back on my card. She needed a managers approval though and there was no manager near by, and I had to wait a while before he finally came.
Just bummed because there was no apology, and obviously no help for me as I was in there three separate times within the hour. It was great when Frys first opened, but it seems there is a lack of decent customer service and managers too. I’ll just be doing more research online rather than going in to deal with long waits and rude workers.

Service = what service.
Products = they have name brand stuff but the inexpensive stuff is all cheap no name brand stuff.
Store is way too big and tricky to find anything. Sure you can find the most popular, common items but when you’re looking for a specific, say a Samsung Micro SD card, they don’t have it on the shelf.
Than you have to try to find someone to help you. When you, they usually say they will get someone to help you.
Then you have the god awful line to pay. That’s right, a single long ass line. Plenty of register that wrap all the way to exit doors, but not enough clerks on registers.
I’ve never been in and out of the store in just a few minutes. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to Find parking, find the stuff you looking for, find someone to help you and wait a long while just to pay.
I should have just ordered online or gone to Bestbuy down the street.
Cool fish tank though.

I got mixed feelings with this particular store. I came here quite a few times, as it is in my neighborhood. My first impression was, «Wow! This gigantic fish tank is so cool! I love the underwater theme!»
And that’s about it.
Now I go in, it kinda gives me this weird feeling of a barren desert. It’s never as packed as any Fry’s location that I have been to, including the one in Orange County/​LA and the one in Sacramento. Some shelves, especially toward the back for cameras and accessories, look like they have been raided by bandits, some were unorganized, some were just completely empty. I was perplexed. Why are there empty shelves but no crazy clearance sale?!
The staff quality fluctuated. Sometimes if you’re lucky you will get a helpful staff who knows exactly where things are and is eager to show you. Other times you’ll probably get one who can’t wait to go home.
One time, on a very rare occasion, there was a long line. Although only a few registers were open, the line moved pretty quickly so it wasn’t too bad.
The selection was okay and the prices were still competitive for a mortar-​and-​brick store. But let’s be honest. Most of us buy things online, especially Amazon now. They might do a pricematch but I’m not sure. Need to check with the staff.
For large appliances that don’t include installation fee, check their competitor BB for a price-​match with installation included, or you can bring it up to one of the Fry’s staff about such thing and see if they can give you a good deal! Good luck!

I was impressed by the shear size of this store having not visited that many Fry’s before. However, they were so picked over and then the merchandise not put back and organized that it really was a distraction to finding what I was looking for, though the prices were pretty good.

I’ve always been a fan of Fry’s but the store has degraded in many ways. For instance, I wanted to buy a really cool office chair they had on display but after searching every box on the floor I couldn’t find it and not one person attempted to assist me. I took a picture and will find it online later.
There are many other products on display but finding a price tag anywhere is hopeless. Why not install a price checker/​scanner like they have in Target?
Also, the mobile phone area is a mess. Most of the phones are display models. Some look completely broken. No sales people around to answer any questions.
Note: this is a great place to get batteries! AA or AAA are super cheap here. $ 8 for 40 batteries is a steal.

I have a love/​hate relationship here. I love it because it’s a huge store with a lot of wonderful products for sale. I get «nerdgasm» every time I’m in here.
What makes me hate this place is their tech support. I still haven’t forgiven this place for their lousy tech support.
A long time ago (when this place first opened up) my brother always had problems with his computer (adware, spyware, trojan, etc).
We were still in high school (so no job), so my Mom would pay a lot here for tech support to fix my brother’s laptop. Now, they removed all those nasty computer programs out of my brother’s computer but eventually, my brother would encounter this problem again and again
This went on for quite a while. I was eventually frustrated that my Mom was paying a lot of money here and the damn tech support weren’t doing a great job so I took a look at my brother’s laptop to see what was going on.
I solved it right away; my brother’s OS (Windows XP at the time) wasn’t updated. I updated it for him and he hasn’t gotten any malicious computer programs as a result.
So, you can understand why I’m still upset with the tech support here, after so many years. All that money that my Mom spent here could’ve been put to better use.

To be honest, I would rather shop for electronics online. I know it’s hard for these guys to compete in a world where EVERYTHING is available on the internet, but I do stop in here sometimes when I want to shop/​browse.
I do also come by here when I want to see a part in person. Sometimes internet pictures don’t do enough justice to the part I want; I want to see it in my hand. I’ll also pick up connectors, parts, or cables here when I need them the same day. Their prices are usually pretty reasonable, but BE WARY of the «price match» for internet offers. There are a lot of catches and fine print, and you usually won’t get it for what you think.
The main reason for a low review is that literally 50% of the time that I come here for a part I need, they either don’t have it or it’s out of stock. This is really frustrating, and defeats the purpose of me even coming here in the first place. Products do get misplaced or misshelved, and sometimes are displayed in multiple areas. It can be very confusing.

4 stars because of the cool décor! I only come here when my brother, guy cousins, or boyfriend want to hit up some nerdy electronics stuff.
But tell you what, they still sell cassette and cd portable players if you are currently in the market for one!
