This was a great bagel shop and it is sad that they have closed. Sadly, places like Bagel Street Café’ seems to be the«norm» out here– not my kind of bagel but alas…

Meh. It’s fairly run down but I’m used to hole in the wall places so I wasn’t deterred. Wanted a salt bagel, nope, none are ready yet, at 8am. I choose jalapeño, egg and cheese, toasted. And a poppy hamentashen! I’m asked again what’s on my bagel, I repeat it. After it’s toasted I’m asked again. And one more time, I suppose for the hell of it. There were five other customers, also asked repeatedly for their orders. Somebody needs a pen and paper or Aricept. The bagel was good, chewy and delicious. The egg and cheese were microwaved. The hamentashen was awful. The dough tasted raw even though it’s baked, bland and dry. The poppy filling was also bland and flavorless. Yech. I wouldn’t make a special trip to come here. A bagel and shmear is fine but I wouldn’t get more than that.

Wonderful bagel shop. Great bagels, great customer service. I don’t go into the store as much as I order catering from them(bagels, platters, etc.) and they always do such a wonderful job with the food, presentation, and drop-off. I’m impressed time and time again. Highly recommend!

Best open-face lox bagel sandwich I think ‘ve ever had. It’s the red onion and capers that make it!

This is a great bagel shop. I’ve been here several times and have never waited more than 5 minutes to order. The bagels are always made perfectly– crisp but not hard on the outside and chewy on the inside. They don’t skimp on the extras– cream cheese, veggies, etc. Minus one star though, because as some of the other reviewers point out, the place can be somewhat messy looking with crumbs on the tables and floors. The interior does look dilapidated and could use some dusting and a fresh coat of paint. It would definitely be more inviting if they spruced it up a bit. As for me, I’m more interested in that Asiago cheese bagel, that pesto mozzarella bagel, oh and that sourdough bagel! I’ll overlook it’s rundown appearance and admire the bagels while I wait instead!

Heard lots of good things about Levy’s from Unilocalers, mostly for having bagels comparable to New York bagels. The only thing«New York» about this place is the shop itself, old fashioned and dull. The bagels are tiny compared to bagels found in New York. The bagels had a crunch on the outside, having been toasted, but the inside tasted a bit stale.

My go to spot every working morning… i’ve tried the lox and cream cheese and the egg and cheese and love them both. Thus far my favorite bagel is the garlic but I stick to the everything so that I don’t drown anybody out with my garlic breath, lol. Amy and all the other employees are always pleasant even at early 7am. They even know my usual now which is the egg and cheese with salt and pepper on an everything bagel.

Met up w girlfriends on a Sunday for baby shower planning. I got the lox sandwich on everything bagel. It was really good with the cream cheese, fresh smoked salmon tomatoes and red onions. Perfect brkfast bagel for sure! Also got their coffee, which was ok. Took off stars because they didn’t have much bagels to choose from since it was Sunday and the girl said they close early so they only bake once in the morning and that’s it for the day. It got really packed after we got settled in which is a good sign. However because the place is a lil small shop it got pretty loud. I prolly wouldn’t come back again, if rather try the other bagel joints in the area to compare how they are.

I like Levy’s a lot. It’s great to get authentic NY Bagel’s in tiny San Ramon. BUT they only get 3 Stars because the mark-up on their Cream Cheese is ridiculous! The margins must be insane. Come on guys, you’re too good to be this greedy.

Levy’s is different from most bagels i have come across: –denser –chewier –tastier in a salty, unexplainable way 3.5 stars eats: onion, garlic, blueberry(.95) –flavors subtle, not overwhelming –definitely not«round bread» crumbs: –smiling, fast service –bagels seem to sell quickly, many varieties sold out. –bagel sammies available.

I had some time to kill before my first appointment so I came into Levy’s Bagel for a cup of coffee. After seeing the staff make bagels from scratch in the back I had to indulge in something. I ordered the sausage & egg onion bagel sandwich which was toasted. The delicious bagel was toasted hot and the egg was thick with a decent sized piece of yummy sausage. I chased the sandwich with a cup of organic Italian roast coffee blend. A great way to start my workday!

So sorry they closed! This was a great bagel shop and I had been coming for years. I’m from New York and Levy’s was the best bagel place in the area. Unfortunately they lost their lease at the end of August 2014. However the good news is that you can go around to corner to Diablo Deli and they are now selling Levy’s bagels. Thank you Diablo Deli! Levy’s plans to re-open«in a few months» somewhere along the 680 corridor, but have not secured a location. Meanwhile, visit Diablo Deli for your Levy’s bagel fix.
