This place was awesome! I loved the atmosphere and all the random decorations, plus the dining outside area is so cute! Very garden feel to it– inside too they have a little shopping area with cool stuff. We had the trio of salsas(Pica de gallo, tomatillo, and fire roasted) and the fresh guac– totally worth it! The chips are homemade taste with a great crisp. The taco selection is out of this world! We had homemade chorizo, and the carne asada and they were amazing. Go here, you won’t be disappointed!

By far the best food we had on Sanibel. The tacos, tapas, and salads are really outstanding– in particular the market and alice tacos and the sugarcane salad. The dishes made full use of a wide range of spices, vegetables, and fish and everything seemed fresh enough to have been bought hours before. Having been back three times and tried most of the sides, I would say they’re unremarkable, but the main dishes on the menu are outstanding and very good value. Two thumbs up!

Ordered carry out from here. The food was appealing to the eye, and the fish tacos were flavorful… the rest of our meal was… blah. The service was awful. The people were nice enough once they acknowledged us. took about 15 minutes to be acknowledged and order a beer(they were not that busy and we were standing obviously at the bar) then about 45 until our food came out. I gave 3 stars because the fish tacos tasted good, and they have a nice beer list. Also, the outside it adorable. Don’t sit inside unless you enjoy eating in an elderly horder’s attic.

Excellent food — great place. Don’t miss this place if you have the chance. Guacamole is perfect, drinks perfect! Staff is wonderful and warm. Surprise junk shop in the back. I always crave Mexican food and this place was superb. Fresh ingredients, great flavor combinations. Familiar and interesting at the same time. Well done.

Whoa! This place is outstanding. Have already gone back three times in three weeks, and considering a fourth! Super fresh food, & exquisite flavor balancing. Interesting menu with some real surprises & happily priced. Inviting outdoor seating, vegan options which is always nice, Creatively mixed drinks and an impressive beer selection. The staff is very, very good. Warm personalities, accurate and attentive. The pork carnitas are my favorite! AmaZing. While it is true the indoor décor needs some work the food and service are impeccable. If i could give this place 6 stars i would.

Food is excellent here. Huge beer list. Try the La fin du Monde beer, it’s very good. Service was also good. Best if shared as tapas.

I have had a lot of vegan tacos and I can safely say that this place had the best I’ve ever had. Fresh herbs and vegetables along with a delicious lemon sauce made the flavors simply perfect. They had a huge assortment of craft and local beers along with multiple vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere was kind of quirky casual and our server was wonderful.

Though pretty much every place here on the island has at least one crummy vegetarian plate, Sanibel Island is for meat-eaters. Enter Fresh Taqueria with several bright, fresh, and delicious vegetarian and vegan options from which to choose. If you are looking for sombreros and mariachi players, this is NOT your place. Rather, Fresh is a modern Mexican restaurant with nods to traditional and ancient cuisine which could be plunked right down in the heart of Chicago and do very well. Service was fast and friendly and our six-year-old was loving every morsel. I subtract one star for the Sanford & Son vibe of the décor, but when I’m jonesing for good summertime comfort food after a long day in the sun, I come here in the dark!

Yum!!! What a nice change from the typical beach fare. And for a vegetarian, it’s paradise. Delicious Alice tacos. Highly recommended!

Convenient location in a unique building. Ordered to go and the order was correct, on time and packed perfectly. Fair prices considering you’re on Sanibel island. The food is neither«authentic Mexican» nor Tex-Mex, not even necessarily what I like to describe as «surf style» tacos but it definitely is refreshing to find more vegan and vegetarian options on Sanibel, and their meat dishes got more favorable reviews than the«vegan» tacos I ordered. Though the tacos tasted were made to order and the ingredients obviously fresh, the«vegan» lacked in seasoning and could have stood to have the vegetables and tempeh both grilled a little longer. I get the feeling a vegan wasn’t making the dish. The avocado was a nice touch however and it wasn’t a terrible dish, filling and a strong c+. Taco would have been a solid b if it had been grilled a tad bit longer leaving the veggies not as crunchy and maybe a little char flavor. Rice and black beans were my favorite part of the meal, though they were a pretty standard side. Friendly folks working in the establishment make it worth returning, perhaps dining in would make it an even better experience.

The outside is adorable but the restaurant is a disaster. Our visit started out great– the guacamole is tasty. The food is inventive, a mixed of vegan inspired Latin food but it falls short. I had the sugar cane salad and it tasted like turkey stuffing. The service is slow, very slow. The ingredients, although are boasted to be fresh, are not; I think because few people come here. Half Of the restaurant is a gift shop full of dust-covered trinkets. If you do come in a group of 6 or more, expect to pay an added gratuity of 20%. Once again, the outside is adorable and this spot would make a amazing venue for a restaurant impossible episode. Until then, pick a different spot!(FYI– as we were leaving a patron pulled out a hair from the guacamole)

Absolute worst dining experience I have ever had, mind you I am a server myself. If I could, I wouldn’t even give Fresh Taqueria one star. I dined here some time ago and enjoyed the food so I brought my family in tonight so they could try it. Our appetizers came out cold, food came out wrong, rice was undercooked, waters were not refilled, margarita was average and service was slow(granted they seemed understaffed). I do not recommend this establishment to anyone on the island unless they want to pay 70 dollars to spend the night in the bathroom.

I’m not too sure how people have given this place good reviews. It is not good. Well the guacamole was good, but it ended there. I’ll make it short and as kind as I can. There was Parmesan cheese on the carne tacos. Not good or right and not mentioned on the menu. The carnitas in the other taco was chewy, not fresh, and a taste similar to canned tuna/cat food. This is not an exaggeration. Go somewhere else.

Wow! Easily the best(freshest) meal we have had on Sanibel, with a great price too! Service was excellent, and the owner talked to us about how the beers are chosen– great experience.(After being on Sanibel for 3 weeks, this is the first review I have written.) Vegetarian options, great enchiladas and salad, and load of options for tacos. My only tip is don’t let the décor give you a bad impression of the place. The food is worth it. The last star is only for a better look to the place; has nothing to do with the fabulous food and outstanding service we received.

A must stop on a bike or in a car. A delicate yet trendy tropical tapas, tacos and drink oasis. The staff keep the friendly Sanibel vibe going and seem to be very tentative to all bar and tables guests. Great natural margaritas and made to order guacamole. Refreshing for the mouth and the mind.

Best food and beer selection on the island so far. Great stop on a hot afternoon, vegan and non-vegan and dishes were great, fresh guacamole(with poblano), cold beers. Adds up for 4 people but worth it for a nice meal

Unilocal pro-tip: I search vegan when I roll into your town even though I dabble in dairy on the daily. Fresh Taqueria came up on a recent trip and my approach paid off. Four veggie taco options, and they even put dairy cheese on the otherwise vegan tempeh taco, kosher and all Nice micro-brew selections meshed with the vaguely stoner vibe. Friendly staff that kept the water glasses full after our parched day biking to and from the beach. Good guacamole and kid-friendly.

Seemed like 3 – 4 lunch tables on a Saturday overwhelmed these people. I could overlook that. However my 11 year old daughter and I left after the owners acknowledged and sat two groups of adults who cut in front of us before they acknowledged us. I mentioned something to townhouse/owner — but he ignored me. I’m a restauranteur and don’t discriminate based on age. My kid would have eaten more than the elderly people they let sit before us. And I certainly would have had a few beers as well as a full lunch. In the end, we left because I started to worry that these frazzled people would also be cooking my food. Seems like this is the type of place that could use some focus. Is it a taqueria, beer hall, store?

The tacos here were actually delicious, but our waitress was 100% incompetent. She never refilled our waters, asked if we wanted another cocktail, or needed the check. She never cleared the plates from our table or the tables around us. Eventually, I went inside and asked for the bill. When we left, every single table outside was still dirty, so all the people that were arriving were forced to sit inside or at a dirty table. The tacos here were easily the best meal we ate on Sanibel Island, but the service was so bad, I couldn’t give this place 5 stars. It was like being in an episode of Restaurant Impossible. Too bad
