Ordered honey walnut prawns, orange peel beef, pork fried rice and jajang myun noodles(Korean black bean noodles) cost: 48.00 Honey walnut prawns was ok, had better. Some of batter was hard and chewy Orange peel beef that everyone recommended… Not a fan. Tasted like Panda Express. I think Panda Express is better. Pork fried rice… Nothing to rave about. Tasted the same. The Korean noodles… Now that was good! If it wasn’t for that I would have given this place two stars. So basically I paid 48.00 for delicious noodles! Lol

This place is awesome. We haven’t lived in the Bay Area since 2013 and my family STILL talks about Lock Chun and Irene. We ate there frequently and we all agree it’s the best we’ve ever had. Our sons remember Irene and how very kind she was to our family. She started to identify us by our voices(and our order) when we’d call in, and she’d always add a little something for us to try like cream cheese wontons. Yum. Everything on the menu is delicious. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we’ll be sure to stop in. We miss you, Irene! :-)

I was rolling my Work Whip Big Ken around and it was around Dinner time. I was hungry and felt like Chinese food . So when I saw Lock Chun I rolled into their parking lot and parked Big Ken. I then proceeded in grabbed a Menu and Seated myself. There were a few Patrons at other tables. Lock Chun was Brightly lit and Clean. My Waitress appeared from the Kitchen and asked for my Drink order. I opted for Ice water. When my Waitress returned with my Water, I ordered the Combination Chow Fun and Fried Shrimp . Lock Chun is Sparsely decorated and seems to do a lot of Take Out Business. My Chow Fun came first and it was a good portion and was seasoned just right. It was pretty tasty. Out next was my Fried Shrimp with Sweet and Sour and Chinese Hot Mustard Dipping Sauce. The Shrimp had been Butterflied and Deep fried. They were pretty tasty with the Dipping sauce. Portion size was good. My Bill came with a Fortune Cookie. Which I thought was a Nice Touch. I paid with a Credit Card and rolled out . Lock Chun is a Baller On A Budget Approved.

My review is purely for the food, as we had takeout and didn’t do the full dine-in experience. I tried this place out after some coworkers recommend it as being fresh, delicious Chinese food, and boy, I couldn’t agree more! We ordered: Potstickers: Cooked perfectly, slightly crispy on the outside and delicious filling. Pork Fried Rice: So good! The flavor on the pork was phenomenal, nice and BBQ-y! Orange Peel Beef: Delicious! It was a little sweet, a little spicy, but not too much, just right. Sesame Chicken: Very good, no nonsense, solid flavor and good sauce to chicken ratio. Our whole order was about $ 40 but would’ve been enough for 4 people. Let me tell you, they’re quite generous with the portions! The food was fresh, full of wonderful flavors, and not overly salty like other Chinese food can be. Highly recommend!

I’ve been meaning to update my review but always forgot. Since I’ve written my review, I’ve come back to this restaurant a few more times with my mom. The jjamppong, which I think is only on the Korean menu, is consistently delicious! There’s a lot of toppings including meat, squid, scallops, shrimp, and lots of veggies as well. This is also the only jjamppong/zzazang place my mom can go to without getting an MSG related allergic reaction. The tangsuyuk(I don’t know how it’s spelled LOL) is also really great. Make sure to ask for the sauce on the side so that the meat stays crunchy!

I was working near the area and was craving chinese food. I Unilocaled the location and this place came up. The food was great. First, this place is literally nestled next to Santa Clara Billiards so it’s impossible to see from El Camino. They always say the«hole in the walls» are the best. That theory still continues with this place I had the Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice(lunch special). The rice was good… more of a Japanese Beni Hana style but suttle and good. The Kung Pao had a tasty sauce that hit the spot. I’m definitely going to be coming back to try other dishes. If they nailed the Kung Pao Chicken I am sure other dishes are just as good. If you’re near the area this place is definitely worth checking out

I really like this place as it has really good tasting food with good portions at a fairprice. That shouldn’t be interpreted as criticism, because they are always good and there are plenty of Chinese restaurants in the are that are in fact BAD. Even better, is this place is GREAT for lunch, with really tasty food served up hot and sure to fill you up for a reasonable price. Of particular note are the set dinners for take out. These are a bargain for a hungry group of people, and the staff there are very very nice. I like this place. I really like this place.

Lemon chicken is a must here I loved it, honey walnut chicken tastes like chicken inside a Chinese chicken salad which isn’t bad just not the best. Cream cheese wontons are ok. Staff is really friendly and nice and lunch is not expensive. Dinner is. Oh also the menus are really nice and not torn and it was clean there

My family started coming here about 7 months ago. The food is fresh, service prompt and kind. You get a lot of food for the money which is always nice especially if you’re feeding a family of 5 as I do. We often do the typical beef chow fun(dry), steamed rice, house chow mein, pork sweet and sour, beef and broccoli, salt and pepper ribs and chicken curry. That usually runs me maybe $ 100. Which is good becayse to feed our family of 5 at say Red Robin is like $ 115, without leftovers. So in actuality I am feeding my family twice from what we order here. Mind you, neither of these amounts include tip. We always have enough food left over to take home to eat the following day. There’s even be several occasions when I have a sick child or two and just order won ton soup for the ill and a Chinese chicken salad for myself to go. This place is located on the corner of an older strip mall and parking is plenty. So if you are on the Stevens Creek strip car shopping and need a break to fuel up to help you decide which vehicle and loan term to commit to, this place can offer you more bang for the buck ;-). Happy eats!

Sometimes I wish there was a way to give a half star! I would give this little hole in the wall a 3.5 — I had the highly recommended lemon chicken dish. I didn’t order a drink. I enjoyed the free tea that they provided at my table. My bill = $ 12.50 A bit pricey for the quality and what you get. I am sure the lunch special is much more worth it.

This restaurant has the best beef chow fen i tried in the Bay Area. The beef is very soft and the rice noodle is nicely down. Their hot and sour soup is a lot better than other Chinese restaurant too, I had tried a lot of the hot and sour soup from other restaurants which is really just very dilute and not much food you can eat. I really like how rich their soul is. Plus, we ordered the small size, but it’s more than enough for two people. This is the first time my friend and I came to this restaurant, other than the soup and the noodle, we also ordered a dish of sesame chicken and their eggplant. They fried the eggplant before they cook it, so the eggplant doesn’t have the taste I usually don’t like in it. My friend and I were having a good time here and we surely will come back again.

Good food, good service but definitely can use an update and some extra cleaning and washing dishes just a little better! Other than that everything was good.

We tried Lock Chun last night for takeout based on the Unilocal reviews. Everything was good, but I think the reviews set our expectations too high and we were a bit underwhelmed. The Good The vegetables all were fresh, crisp, and tasty. We originally wanted the Snow Pea With Water Chestnuts, but they were out of that dish, so we got the Vegetables Combination. It was a good alternative. The Potstickers were a bit more doughy than others and not as fried, but were good and yummy. You get six to an order. The food was also reasonably priced, they were close to our home, and the food was ready at the prescribed time. The Bad I was really looking forward to the Mongolian Beef based on the reviews and that was the dish that failed to deliver for me. I was expecting more flavor and found the dish to be more on the bland side. I have been trying to think about what was missing from the dish and can’t put my finger on it, but the flavors were muted. I wanted vibrant flavor with nice heat and it missed on both points for me. My wife, who does not like a lot of spice, found the level of spice to be perfect for her. I added sriracha to the dish, which helped both spice and flavor, but wanted more. The Beef Broccoli was also bland and lacked a balance of beef with the broccoli. It ended up being fairly broccoli heavy. The final result for us was meh. The price and location are good for us, so we may give it another go. Perhaps catching them on a Sunday night is not the best night for them. I will let you know if we try again and if it gets better.

I’ve been looking for a decent place to get some good Chinese food at a decent price, think I found it. Looked up restaurants on Unilocal, and somehow this place never popped up on my radar. The reviews and pictures looked decent, so I thought I’d give it a try. The restaurant is located inside the corner of a strip mall, next door to a large billards hall. They have a fair size parking lot, and there were plenty of spaces to park when I arrived. Since this was my first time, I thought to check out their menu in person, rather than placing an order online. The lady at the counter was friendly, and pleasant. I asked what was good and we talked about some options. They have a «hidden» menu with some Korean/Chinese options such as ja-jang mein, the Korean variation with the black sauce. I went with the Mongolian beef, salt and pepper pork chops, ja-jang mein, and a fish filet and veggie dish, no rice. Total came out to around $ 46. I also had to wait a few extra minutes as their noodles are made fresh to order, which was fine. The food came out quick and the hostess threw in some free appetizers for us. In terms of taste, the food was pretty good, that’s it, it was good food. Portions were large as well. The place is tiny, it has about 60 seats, it’s basically the definition of a hole-in-the-wall. There were three tables with diners, the rest of the place was empty. But plenty of folks coming in for take out. I found out that they have been at that location for 35 years!!! They must be doing something right. Would I go back, yes definitely. If you’re looking to get some Chinese take out, this is your place.

I love this place! It is my comfort food. Coming here just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. They receive a lot of take out customers so do not let the lack of customers inside fool you. We stumbled upon this place because we play at Santa Clara Billiards all the time. We decided to try it out because we have not really explored Chinese food in great depth in South Bay. Irene is always very attentive! The service is always very prompt, polite and sweet. It feels like your eating at an Aunties house. The hot and sour soup is on point! It’s my favorite in the Bay area! Not too much corn starch. I used to love the Mongolian beef when I was still eating meat. But the Kung Pao shrimp and the green beans are perfect for our pescatarian diet!

Simply the best Chinese takeout around. The meat is really fresh tasting and actually edible! Some of these other chinese take out places food is not edible. This stuff is the best! I will not go anywhere else but Lock Chun for my Chinese takeout.

We ducked in to grab lunch and what a nice surprise. We had been testing driving cars and just wanted something quick and easy before returning to the process. The waitress who served us on this Saturday lunch hour was so warm! She didn’t rush us, had a smile every time we interacted, and quickly refilled drinks without our needing to prompt her. We had the dinner for two: wonton soup, egg rolls, Mongolian beef, lemon chicken, and stir fried rice. The soup was not over salted and had plenty of wontons and mushrooms. The egg rolls didnt glisten with grease but came out hot, fried and crispy. The lemon chicken was GREAT! It wasn’t lying in a puddle of syrupy lemon sauce(I hate that) and was made up of big chunks of white meat perfectly fried. The ratio of beef to onion in the Mongolian beef was generous. We both really liked the smoky flavor that stopped short of tasting charred. The stir fried rice wasn’t noteworthy in any way, which is why this review is 4 stars instead of five. Also, because we’ve only had one meal there but do plan to go back again. The place is modest on the inside and out so don’t go for the décor but DO go for the dinner for two!

Unilocal mates let me down on this one. We had kung pao shrimp and it was good. But the wontons in the soup has a strange taste to the meat. The orange chicken was so terrible I had to spit it out. I’ve never met an orange chicken I didn’t like until today. The waitress was super nice and she took it away and off the bill but she also told me shrimp and prawns were the same thing. Bad experience

Wow just wow, i tried this place for the first time on 3−28−15& my fiancée and I loved it! The woman in the front desk was friendly and corteous. They gave us complimentary fried dumplings that were delicious! We had the orange peel beef and walnut prawns with rice and chow mein. We loved the orange peel beef, my fiancée didn’t care for the walnut prawns but I ate everything on my plate. We will be coming back soon!
