I had high hopes for this place based on reviews but was disappointed with our food and the cleanliness. Our bbq was dry and bland — nothing to be excited about. I appreciate the complimentary ice cream; however, when I was trying to pull a cone out of the box since they were not falling down automatically, I had to bend down to see why they were stuck to find A LOT of grime around the dispenser. Sorry, but we will not be returning.

We moved out here, from the East coast a couple of years ago and have searched high and low for what we consider GOODBBQ. We haven’t found any other restaurant that lives up to this great taste! In fact, it is the only place we go to for BBQ and we make a 20 mile drive once or twice a month just to go to Dickey’s. The staff has always been nice, it is clean and worth every mile! My personal favorite is the Pulled Pork, Creamy Coleslaw and Fried Onion Tanglers. I just recently tried the Asiago Cheese Spinach and will add it to my regular rotation of sides. My vegetarian teens even like to go because the selection of sides are so good, they can order something different every time and love every bite! I also give bonus points for the free soft serve ice cream! What’s not to love about that?

I was not really expecting too much because I had a bad experience at the Northridge location a few years back. However, a «local offer» deal came up with an extra 5.00 off so for 10.00(30.00 worth of food), I felt like we didn’t have much to lose. We went on Memorial Day and the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered 2 combo plates and I asked for lean brisket and lean ribs. I also wanted chicken, but they were out of chicken. We ended up with turkey which I did not care for. The pink color just threw me off. I know its the smoke ring or whatever, but its off-putting. We got fried onion straws, mac n cheese(frozen, I believe its Stouffer’s, its the same mac n cheese that Pollo Loco has), baked beans and potato salad(liked this a lot). They accidentally gave me mashed potato casserole instead. I went inside and they gave me the potato salad complimentary. The meats were lean as requested. We enjoyed the meal and had enough for 2 more leftover meals. Pretty great deal for 10.00. We’ll be back.

Brisket plate was ok. Brisket was very soft, but very small portion for the price. I had mashed potato and onion rings. Mashed potato was very good, onion rings were very thin and hot. I loved the hot Bbq sauce. I liked the free ice cream cone. It was very generous. The people there were very friendly and nice. For now I gave 3 stars. I need to try other stuff.

Some of our friends in Monterey turned us on to Dickies and now we’re addicted! Just went in for lunch today for their $ 1 sliders. We even got more to go for dinner tonight. If u want some amazingly good BBQ at a great price this is the place to go. And they even have FREE ice cream with any purchase and kids eat free on Sunday’s!

Skimpy portions, over priced, cramped seating and dining, and customer service needs training. Twice I have been there and it’s not very friendly. But no fret, they just need to work on it a little bit, then I would move to 3 stars, until they work on that pricing, menu and and a little juiciness, I’m not a taker.

I gave Dickey’s another shot today with a late lunch. The fact that I had 1 remaining $ 20.00 gift card, made up my mind for me as the lunch choice on my off day. I ordered the 2 Meat Plate, with Sliced Brisket and Chicken Breast as my 2 choices. And Potato Salad and Fried Okra for my sides. I tried the original and sweet BBQ sauces and passed on the spicy. You can load up on as much sauce as you please, all a part of the self serve bar. As for my second food experience with Dickey’s, this time I chose to dine in rather then take it to go. And I give the slight edge to dining in. The food was somewhat better, but still nothing special. The sliced brisket was slightly tastier then the chopped I ordered a couple of months ago. But there were slices with too much fat, and the chicken breast was very tender but bland. So much for standing on its own without needing any sauce. I had to drench the chicken in it. The fried okra was much more satisfying today over last time, but the potato salad was extremely sub-par. Like it was swimming in mayonnaise. The roll was delicious, as always. And I still don’t get the slices of pickles and onions, since I didn’t order a sandwich and the size of the roll would never substitute for slices of bread. Overall, my 3 star rating still stands.

This place opened not that long ago, and I really enjoyed the food and the service. The food was ready and tasty, and the customer service was excellent. Also, loved the free cone at the end.

Im from California and no BBQ expert unless you count asada which most people dont. This place rocks! The staff is super sweet and has replaced items for me with an apology and sometimes extras. I do not eat pork and was given a plate with what to me really looked like pork. I got home and was sad boo hoo. My husband took it back to explain MY issue, they assured him it was beef and just to make sure made me a brand new plate where my husband could watch them cut the meat from the brisket! Oh and the onion strings lordy! Rattler’s is dishwater and overpriced compared to this. We will be back!

Food gets 5 stars, because it is delicious. Service gets 0 stars, portions get 0 stars. There us a free ice cream machine in the back you should definitely take advantage of since the prices are so outrageous here. Every time I come here the workers just seem irritated to be working.

My first«run in» with Dickeys was on a mini vacation in Ventura, CA. Prior to that I knew we had a location near by, but never had the inclination to try. Boy, let me tell you, I am now kicking myself for that one! Great food, great people! Recommendations: the ribs and the onion strings!!! Although everything else is just as tasty — especially the turkey. Oh, and they have crunchy ice. That alone will keep me coming back again and again. Did I mention FREE ice cream for dessert!!!

It had s good flavor, but no one has come close to Dr. Hogly-Wogly’s in the Valley. We spent $ 67 for 2 children + 2 adults. I would have given a 5 star… but, the food is at room temperature. It’s not warm enough, no where near hot. I think, it would be better to take it home and warm it up. The price is pretty fare for the portion, not to shabby. My little ones love stuffed potatoes, almost ate them to bare skin. The baked beans and coleslaw, were fantastic. The role was good; but, cold. The ribs were marinated in good sauce, a little over on salt(pork) and room temperature. The place was pretty busy.

Ok not the best… I am giving it only 2 stars for a couple of reasons. My 3 meat plate was room temp. My bread was room temp to my spicy cheddar sausage to my beef brisket. The only warm item was my waffle fries. The mac and cheese was also room temp. What started the tempo was when I got there and tried to order the ribs and they were out of them per the order taker. So of course after I sat down with my meat combo I saw someone paying for the ribs… What gives? Then when I got my free soda it was super flat. I’m glad the drink was free due to checking in. I informed the workers of the flat soda and they said they will fix it. As I ate I heard the checker tell the manager I was waiting so they came to me and said it’ll take a while. I guess they did not plan on fixing tonight. Not sure why it would take a while considering there was no line… If I actually paid for the drink I would of gave 1 star. So I hope dickies clean up. I’ve visited the pasadena and the Lancaster location and they have been much better in service and warm food. I should of known when the cheddar in the sausage was almost like mini cubes…

I tried the beef brisket and the free cone. You can skip those. Try the fried onion tanglers and the ice tea. They are really good. Ambiance is western style the staff was warm, professional and very helpful.

I probably will upgrade this to a five star, but I grew up in Texas and feel I know BBQ pretty well. This location is a few doors down from the movie theater and easy to find. We came in for lunch and the had good signage and one that showed the daily special, today’s was pulled pork sandwich with two sides and a drink for $ 8.99. We ordered that and I spoke with the manager about the store, she was nice and informative. The food came quick and you can get some sauce(choice of three) from a warmer, warm sauce just tastes better on BBQ. You can also treat yourself to a soft-serve ice cream cone after. I would recommend if you are local or visiting.

I’m from the south, Louisiana and Texas. In the 31 years I’ve lived in L.A. I have constantly been on the prowl for really good barbecue. Great BBQ is pretty easy to find back there, but I can count on the fingers of one hand the times that my expectations have been met or exceeded in SoCal. I’ve eaten at several Dickey’s in Texas and was ever disappointed, so I had high hopes when I discovered there was one near me. It was truly spectacular. My brisket was as flavorful and tender as any I’ve ever had. Seriously. Smokey, well-cooked, no knife needed. I like mine lean and there wasn’t a bit of fat. I also like mine fairly well-done but not dried out. It was perfect.(If you like yours more fatty/juicy and less well-done, I cannot speak to that.) My wife’s smoked turkey was off the charts. Incredibly flavorful. As much as I love brisket, I almost preferred hers! My BBQ baked beans were sweet like I like them, and the fried okra was just right. Sweet tea and free soft serve ice cream. What’s not to love? It was about $ 10 apiece, all in. A very good deal for a lot of truly delicious food. We met one of the co-owners, Pauline, and she was nice as could be and genuinely concerned that her customers were happy. I’ve read some reviews about inattentive employees and a manager, and while I do not doubt those experiences as being valid, they were the complete opposite of ours. They offered free samples and sincerely wanted to know if everything was good and could they make anything better. They’ve only been open a couple of months and the first weeks were no-doubt a shake-down cruise, but they are ready for sailing the wide open seas of world-class BBQ– at least from the perspective of this picky southerner! HIGHLY recommended. (BTW, free kids meals on Sundays with an adult meal. Look for us on Sundays! And they DO deliver within a 10-mile radius.)
