love their food!!! I usually get their ground sirloin beef plate and it tastes so good! Owner is really nice and polite and he makes sure that you are happy with food. The price is very affordable compared to its portion. 100% recommended

Flavors were great and we tried gyro, steak, sirloin and the lamb. The veggies were 100% charred which is not my style hence the 3 stars plus soaked salad and food sitting in window a couple minutes when we were the only customers. Definitely worth the try if in this FoodCourt.

Very slow service. Ordered 25 minutes ago and still waiting. There’s a decent crowd waiting at this point. Honestly, I would get my money back if I could.

Disappointed with the chicken pita sandwich.(Summary: unseasoned, expensive for what it is, bones and blob of fat found in chicken, little to no hummus in sandwich). I was trying to eat healthy and there aren’t many yummy options at the Santa Monica mall food court imo so I decided to try Charlie’s. I got a chicken pita sandwich and it came with lettuce tomatoes yogurt sauce and hummus. It was about $ 7 – 8 after tax which I thought was a bit expensive, but I was hopeful that the taste and quality would be worth it. The sandwich ended being half of a round pita stuffed with chicken. lettuce, tomatoes and(almost nonexistent) hummus. The menu says that all pita sandwiches come with lettuce, tomatoes, yogurt sauce, and hummus. However, there was barely any hummus in my sandwich. When I picked up my order the worker asked if I wanted any other sauces with my sandwich and I asked where the hummus was and she said it was already inside. I kept digging around for it until I realized the hummus(what little of it there was) was thinly slathered onto one inside wall of the pita. There was also a small container of yogurt sauce on the side — just sort of meh. The chicken was almost too soft, like shredded chicken or turkey,(I had expected pieces of chicken like I’d had at other pita restaurants). Anyway, I found 2 bones and a big ball of fat. They weren’t tiny bones either — I’d say each was about an inch long. The chicken tasted unseasoned. I ended up not finishing the sandwich — I just picked out the chicken and threw some sriracha on there for flavor. I didn’t tell the lady who took my order that I had found bones and fat in my sandwich. Maybe I should have, even if just to let her know what’s going on in her food, but after finding the 2nd bone I was just done with it and didn’t want to go through the trouble.

You eat like a king for under $ 20. Amazingly large portions, served with combinations of a few different meats. They also give you bread and rice. There was actually more, I just don’t remember exactly what else was served. I wish they have a restaurant in the Calabasas area.

I thought $ 10 for a small chicken kabob plate(small pieces of grilled chicken, rice, small salad and one roasted tomato) wasn’t worth it, but I forgot that this place is in the Promenade so food is just more expensive in general. I was actually still hungry and I don’t normally eat a lot. I recommend getting the *large plates(more bang for your buck)* and trying the *lamb*. The best thing about eating in the food court is that you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful weather and view of the ocean!

Love this place. I’ve been a fan of this mall for 20+ years because you can get Persian food in the food court. No other mall in LA has this! What a treat!

I ordered chicken and beef combination, chicken was dry and tasteless, beef was over cooked and burned. A food court location, my expectation wasn’t high but this was not eatable.

I’ve been buying food from Charlie Kabob for a long time. Their food is great, and better is their honesty when you ask them about their halal products. I love their chicken kabob with rice and their red sauce in particular is a favorite. Their service is clean, fast, and fresh food and their service to bring the food down to valet for pick up is a priceless. I want so badly to give them a 5 stars but the food is pricey. If I could I would eat there more often but I can’t afford to. honestly they deserve 4.75 stars.

Ok so this is a 5 star mall food rating. This is on the third floor food court of a downtown mall in Santa Monica with indoor and rooftop outdoor seating. You can see into the spotless kitchen through a glass viewing window and watch them grill the meat over an open flame. They have a wonderful and varied selection of fresh hot and cold side dishes. The meat was grill to tender perfection and so very flavorful. The prices were a bit higher than you normally would see on a mall lunch menu but totally worth it. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. Expect to wait a few mins after you order as they cook the meat to order.

Expensive and customer service is terrible! The older woman at the register could give two kabobs about helping. She seemed irritated to be there. That is definitely not the first impression you want to leave on your customers. My dad paid about $ 38 bucks for two plates of food. We have gone to some of the highest praised Persian restaurants in Los Angeles and have not paid that! I thought to myself, this better be good. I’m Persian and I can tell you I would never eat here again. I only have them an extra star because they are on the 3rd floor and you have a nice view. Not coming back anytime soon.

I expected way too much from this place. Maybe it’s because I’m hungry but everything looked good. So in connection to that, my food took longer than expected. How do I know? Everyone else who ordered after me got their food. I knew they were having a problem with my order because they kept looking at me and panicking in their see through kitchen. Yes I ordered a chicken but guess what… They have not started cooking mine. We ordered the ground sirloin steak and the rotisserie chicken. The chicken was dry. The rice that came with it was dry. The salas came with no dressing, and when they finally gave me some. It was hot ranch. Very disappointed. Now the ground sirloin was alright. At this point anything was good, I was starving. It also came with rice and salad but I got hummus on the side. The hummus was by far the best thing they got but then again paired with super hard bread. I spent $ 35 for two plates which have not even begin to fill us up. Will definitely not eat here again. Especially because pinches tacos is right across.

They have huge portions here! I love the lamb kabob plate. Tender, juicy, flavorful. I didn’t think a food court could produce such perfectly grilled meat, but I was impressed. I ordered a side of the eggplant to dip my pita in, and it was wonderfully flavored. The lamb came with pita, salad, rice and grilled onions/tomato/peppers. I slathered on the tzatziki and eggplant on everything. It was so good. Honestly, it was enough for 2 people. Yum!

We were searching for a place to grab a quick bite to eat on the top floor of Santa Monica Place and spotted Charlie Kabob in the food court. We used to frequent the Charlie Kabob location at the Irvine Spectrum until they evicted them in order to do a remodel. Thinking this was a sure bet for tasty food at a good price, we chose to eat here but, unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as what we remember. I ordered the chicken and beef kabob plate which came with rice, salad and pita. In a nutshell, the chicken and beef were very dry. My wife ordered the rotisserie chicken plate and said it was dry too. On the plus side, they do give you a LOT of food so you definitely won’t walk away hungry. I was pleasantly surprised to see they offered Inca Kola as one of their soft drink choices, which I got. Why a Mediterranean food place carries this odd Peruvian soda is a mystery but I’m glad they do!

Two stars for Charlie Kabob. The food is not good. Overpriced! The service is worse! The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Santa Monica Marketplace Mall. When my table mate and I approached Charlie Kabob’s ordering station, there was an employee on the phone. She saw us coming and hung up the phone. Nonetheless, it took her FOUR attempts to take our order, as she was distracted with conversations with another server, a delivery person, the manager, and another customer who was walking by. It was the severe case of A.D.D. We ordered the half chicken with a side of green salad and a serving of hummus. $ 9.95. The chicken was actually well cooked, but lacked flavor. It was bland. I thought that the yogurt sauce served with it would have helped give it flavor. It didn’t. It was watered down yogurt sauce. Overall a pretty bad choice. Grade: D– We ordered three sides: Kale salad with mango: This dish had a lot of potential, as the kale was tender and nicely marinated. However it was too overly sweet. Grade: C. Tabouleh: The typical combination of parsley, grain, tomatoes, and lemon juice. Hard to screw this dish up, but they did. It was salty past being edible. Grade: D– Persian cucumbers, tomatoes, and onion salad. Looked nice and healthy and again, this dish was tooo salty. Inedible. Grade: D– One $ 9.95 half chicken plate, three sides, and 2 drinks came out to $ 29.00 for lunch. OVERPRICED!!! It was money wasted, as the food was either very bland or very salty. Never again. I should have cheked the Unilocal reviews before eating here. Many Unilocalers seem to agree with my experience. Food Grade: D– Service Grade: F Worth the Money Grade: D Overall Impression Grade: D
