This is one of the best art spaces I’ve ever been to, and when the annual Airport Art Walk is happening, I don’t pass up the chance to take in the amazing high ceilings of the hangar and the great art below. Such a cool space for artists to work and show their art! The Art Walk is every March, so pencil it in your calendar and enjoy!

I came here for an MFA Showing for Katie M Schmid’s artwork. The venue is quite large and perfect for a gallery setting. It is pleasant to walk around and there is adequate parking. It is basically a giant warehouse that is carved on the inside with walls that demarcate individual studios for artists along with large hallways to show off the works of art. Many artists leave business cards or sample postcards of prints to get in touch with. Most require advance appointments to see. The MFA showings were quite impressive. There was also a bar available for the event.

I’d heard about the hangar of artists over at the Santa Monica Airport, so I had to take a look. It’s an amazing space! I was immediately greeted with Yossi Govren’s fabulous sculptures. Not only are they visually stunning, but each one is a working lamp! There are many other talented artists showing interesting work, and there seems to be something going on over there on a regular basis. I’m definitely on their mailing list and am glad to see an art collective re-inventing old spaces into something interesting and new.

I’m a big fan of this studio. They have lots of fun openings with great music and hip people. And I’ve got to say I’m really impressed with the artist’s work in this gallery. There is a type of art for every taste but u MUST check out Doni Silver Simons– she’s my favorite by far. Really impressive work. Wish I could afford to buy a piece! Im pretty sure she has a website too.

Even in darkness this studio proves to be interesting. Not sure if it’s the high warehouse ceiling or the artist themselves but there is this sense of unpretentious openness. I was attendee at the«Darkness» exhibit in early December. I was also able to check out the artists’ studios surrounding the main rooms. Thank Jeebus they had some Hpnotiq and Pama drinks! That made the entire show complete! My boyfriend and I went home nicely sloshed and very happy for our friend Sandra Maya and her first gallery showing. Hit this place as often as possible. They know what they are doing creatively.
