Yuck! I ordered chicken flautas with flour tortillas. When I got home I discovered that the flautas were burnt! They had so much garbage on top of them that it was hard to notice(lots of lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, a tsp of guacamole). And the chicken inside wasn’t the best chicken. Even the rice and beans didn’t taste good. A total waste of $ 13!

This is my favorite Mexican on the north side of Santa Rosa. The woman at the counter is always friendly, and accepts my ‘special orders’ as I usually ask for changes to the standard dish. They give huge portions. Downside is part of a very basic strip mall, and food is average Mexican but nothing unique.

As unassuming as any other strip mall Mexican taquería but considerably above average food. Wasn’t going for anything fancy. Can’t recall exactly what it was called and can’t find a menu online but I believe it was something like«The ranchero» burrito. Wasn’t the super burrito. Anyway, it was excellent. Lot’s of flavorful well cooked ingredients instead of the usual beans, rice & meat. Ended up getting another to take home for the next day.

The food is great — but I’m not eating at the place anymore. Last two times I went there they had this awful music blaring. Last night they has someone inside with their bicycle propped against the was who was stoned. She kept laughing and if I made eye contact she’d start talking to me. «You know what? You guys are just amazing!» she’d say. I thought, «You know what? …» — and of course it would be in poor taste and beyond the pale of Unilocal standards to complete my thoughts here. I’m also sick of sitting in their ratty tables and chairs. This is a take-out place only for me.

Taqueria El Rodeo’s menu looked pricey, so i went for a few tacos. menu typical of mex eateries. eats: tacos(2.5) al pastor, lengua –lots of meat, tender, a bit chewy, flavorless, day old? –tortilla soft, tasted/looked like flour, 2 layers –chips(commercial) average, salsa(2) fresh, crisp. –good value 3.5 stars take outs: –buy 7 meals(8.95), get $ 5 off 8th meal. –though good value, leaving at 3 stars, freshness issue-meats everything else fresh –service very attentive,(i’m a senior citizen, afterall). would repeat, 2 tacos was filling.

No frills, super blue-collar taqueria serving reasonably priced, workaday Mexican staples in a similarly blue-collar strip mall. Clean, pleasant staff, good food. I had the super burrito with grilled chicken and it was GREAT! My sis had the nachos, which she said were also good, and we shared chips and guacamole. Prices about the same as Chipotle, quality similar. They also serve beer.

A very unassuming storefront and location, but totally excellent food. It’s never crowded so I am worried it may not last long, but I have been eating there regularly for the last few weeks. The only thing I can review are the al pastor tacos with spicy salsa which are fantastic. Free chips and salsa while you wait for your food. The tacos have great flavor and are served with an assortment of roasted veggies. Very generous portions of meat. Definitely go check it out; don’t let the location fool you.

I went into Taqueria El Rodeo for takeout at lunch. I ordered the carnitas super burrito and a horchata. The horchata was fine, just a little too sweet, but was better once some of the ice melted into it. However, the burrito was inedible and I have a lot of experience with carnitas burritos as they are one of my favorite foods. I literally gagged on it and spit it out. I thought about just trashing it and moving on, but the more I thought about it the more I felt like I should take it back and ask for my money back. When I went into El Rodeo, I was not initially angry; I just though they had a bad batch of something… it happens, and I am very understanding of the things that can go wrong in any business. In fact, if it had ended there I wouldn’t be writing a review at all. Unfortunately, the cashier pulled the lady who made the burrito out of the kitchen and she decided to handle the situation by insulting me. After I refused another helping of the food I didn’t like and asked for my money back she said«maybe its not the burrito, maybe you just need the money.» Seriously!!! Who buys a burrito takes a bite and then returns it for no other reason than to get their money back? I fail to see how that would even benefit me, especially since I had to leave work to drive back to the restaurant to return it. So, essentially she is telling me that either she thinks that I couldn’t afford the burrito to begin with or that I am some kind of crook trying to swindle them out of a burrito that I didn’t even eat. The bottom line of this situation is that I expect to get a reasonable level of respect from anyone that I am doing business with; mainly because I approach people with respect. I work in customer service and I would never insult someone’s character. In my opinion, this experience was unacceptable and I will not be returning to Taqueria El Rodeo.

we went in for Lunch. I ordered super burrito with Pastor and Horchata. My wife ordered super burrito with carne asada. The burrito were huge. we ended up splitting one. the burrito tasted good. They had little spicy kick to them. The Horchata was good. Their Chips and Salas were fresh and tasty. The place is clean and the service is good. I would definitely go back.

Don’t Bother!!! The woman behind the counter(who takes orders) was unfriendly at least, and rude at worst. food is BLAND with no salsa choices.

Don’t let this gem go out of business. Very good shrimp plates, huge and fresh! Nice to find real tables and nice upholstered chairs. I wish I lived closer, it is quite a find. I wish them luck!

For me, the main consideration in rating a restaurant is the food — and I really enjoyed the very simple food I ordered — a tostada salad. The chips were perfectly prepared, and the pico de gallo salsa was swell. In the case of El Rodeo, I will comment on the ambiance as well. Everything was clean and up-to-date. Nice oak paneling, especially for a strip mall restaurant, and hotel-quality men’s room, with automatic switches on all the equipment and beautiful tiling. However paradoxically, I am rating this establishiment as both«classy» and«casual.» So, next time I am in Santa Rosa to hear one of my favorite bands, Stompy Jones(swing) play at the nearby Ellington dancehall, you can be sure I will be starting out at El Rodeo!

New favorite, Super Burrito Camarones a la Plancha. I now have this every time and never grow tired of it. The combination of flavors with the large grilled prawns… UNBELIEVABLE! Just thinking about it makes me want to run out and get one.
