Border Cafe

It’s usually busy here and noisy which I do not mind at all. They start off by giving you chips and salsa which are amazing! I have not tried much of the food options, but the vegetable quesadillas and Caesar salad is great!

Went today for lunch. Place was packed. House made tortilla chips and salsa were very good. The main coarses were average. Service was good. Prices were good

I suppose this is karma at its best. Maybe I should thank the General Manager at the Border Café for not accommodating my Type 1 Diabetic, son with Celiac while our family was dining at the Saugus location. The General Manager was so pompous and arrogant, that our family paid for our drinks and promptly left when we learned he would not accommodate our 7 y/​o with dietary restrictions. The General Manager had the nerve to state they are not a «conglomerate» food chain.
I have since learned the kitchen is infested with cockroaches and the food isn’t stored properly. I guess the STRICT health guidelines the General Manager claimed to be following was a total farce. I know I will NEVER eat there again.

Wasn’t really sure about coming in here because it’s always packed but we tried anyway. The wait was only ten minutes so we stayed. We sat at Ellie’s table and she was amazing. She spoke so passionately about the burro so my sis and I both got one. Amazeballs! The margarita was also pretty rockin. When the bill came I didn’t want to cry. That made me happy. As Marlene would say, 10 out of 10. Would recommend.”

This f’n place. Came tonight. Asked the new waiter (he seemed new, total noob feel, looked like he was in another galaxy) for extra chicken on my chicken fajitas. He obliged and asked what I wanted for my cold set, I told the lad 2 cheese lettuce and pico… He scurried off to put the order in. 1 minute and 23 seconds later he comes back and informs me he will not be able to fulfill my request for extra chicken after all, and if I want a chicken laden option id need to order the fajitas for 2… Fajitas for 2? Not happening. A) I don’t want to be judged by fellow patrons 2) I’m not spending $ 20+ for fajitas. They used to charge $ 3 for extra chicken. On top of the fact I should have followed thru and demanded the chicken chicken as he already told me «ok» when I placed my order. This place keeps losing points with me. Just like that, 2 stars, becomes one dimming star. Sad.

This is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants. I always get the chicken fajitas which are great. Wish they gave you more tortilla wraps though. Chips and salsa before meal are delicious

Always a great meal and a good value! We’ve been coming to Border Café for many years. The food is awesome. The servers are friendly. The price is right!
If you come on a Friday or Saturday, you’ll have to wait. It’s worth it. Can get a little noisy at times but that’s part of the fun atmosphere.

The food is great, the wait staff is very friendly and the prices you can’t beat. I love coming here for dinner. It can get a little loud and hard to chat with friends but they still get a 5 star.

This place is so average I wouldn’t go back. It is so loud you can barely hear the people you are with. I got the swordfish tacos, they lacked any flavor. I left disappointed.

I want to love this place because they give you awesome complimentary nachos BUT the food otherwise isn’t that great. Expect to get full on their hot yummy tortilla chips and salsa, so be careful.
I’ve been here many many times and I normally order quesadillas but since I’m lactose intolerant, I stay away for my own good. Food is pretty average here, nothing too special.
Last time, I ordered blacken chicken and it was pretty dry and the sauce with it was super salty.
Service is always great even though it’s usually packed at night. Prices are great too along with their HUGE cups for drinks.

This was my first time here! It was a busy Saturday and my girlfriend and I went in for lunch! It was about a 15 minute wait, but ended up being quicker.
Food was good, server was attentive and friendly– atmosphere was busy but good–
To sum it all up, this is a kid friendly restaurant with solid drinks and good food!
Will definitely come again!

One of my all time favorite restaurants! Such great quality Mexican food for an incredible deal! It is great for grabbing a quick bite as they always have you in and out in no time. Some of my favorites are the pulled chicken tacos, eggplant Saint Charles & the veggie quesadilla. The chips guac and queso are the best around oh and of course the margaritas !!

Literally downloaded this app just to commend my experience at border café. First time going and it was probably the best service I’ve ever had. We went on a Saturday night, I was hesitant because the place was packed. They said the wait was 15 mins and five minutes later we were seated.
Immediately upon being seated staff gave us chips and salsa and a waiter took our drink order and brought us great margaritas like two minutes later. The food was GREAT and large portions and came out quick, way quicker than I would have expected while packed. I was most impressed with the service, every staff member that wakes by asked if we were okay and needed anything which enabled us to order more drinks faster. They really seem totally focused on making sure the customer comes first. I’ve never seen a serving dynamic to that comparison in my life (and I also work in the restaurant industry). kudos to all the managers and waiters/​cooks. Food was amazing and quick, drinks were perfectly strong/​mixed and even quicker. Totally going back!

Not impressed! I was visiting from out of town and my friend had asked a hairdresser if she had any suggestions for a «Taco Tuesday» location for us. The hairdresser told us to check out the Boarder Café because it «tasted just like her mom’s cooking». Let’s just say, I hope to never try her mom’s cooking.
This place is a mix of tex-​mex and cajun.
chips = decent
salsa = tasted as if it came out of a jar
gauc = the best thing we ordered all night
margaritas = watered down yet sugary.
fajitas = WAY too spicy. I love spicy food but this was the wrong type of spicy.
I wanted to love this place but it didn’t meet my expectations.

Can’t get enough of the blackened chicken fajitas — so flavorful, spicy and overall delicious. These alone are worth the drive and the wait when you first get there. My boyfriend usually gets the swordfish tacos and they almost look too good to eat — but you have to, because they also are super tasty. The portions are pretty big, too; I think if we didn’t fill up on their chips and salsa, we may be able to finish our meals, but the leftovers from there always make me happy the next day. Two thumbs up.

This place is THE BEST. The entrees are dirt cheap and overflowing with amazing food! The pastelitos on the appetizer menu are heavenly.
It is very informal place and VERY loud and there is often a 30 minute wait for 2 people at peak dinner hours which is understandable.
Overall, great food, great service, and great prices.

Went for a quick bite before going to see fireworks with my friend Nene on the 4^th of July. Super worried about some recent reviews as well as the place always being packed.
The place was normal busy with no wait. My friend and I were seated immediately.
Nene ordered the soft tacos plate which was enjoyed however was not a fan of the black beans.
I ordered the Beef Fajitas for the 100^th time. They are just absolutely delicious! I am addicted. I dream about them. I’m not huge into beef and they are mouthwatering. Spicy, on a hot skillet, covered in sautéed onions. Mmmmmmmmm!
Reasoning for ⁴⁄₅ was the black beans are not very good. Just bland, salty.
The music was wayyyyyy to loud. I have been here plenty of times and it was definitely much higher than I have experienced before.
Service was excellent and our waitress Stephanie was on top of her game.

Border Café… If it was ten years ago this review would easily be a solid 4.5 or 5! However the quality and service has significantly declined through the years.
A lot of the classic menu items have disappeared such as the pollo con jamon… Why they got rid of this dish still bothers me after all these years! It was an amazing dish… Anyway fast forward to the future I came out for a family dinner and we are officially done coming here sadly after all these years.
The food was just overall greasy and unappetizing. I had the eggplant and it was covered in gravy… It had good flavor but it was way to oily. The fries here are nothing but potatoes and oil… No one else at the table seemed to be impressed with the food or the service.
I am honestly writing this review and trying to remember any highlights and I can’t… It was my dads birthday and even the cake they gave him was a dry sponge covered in whipped cream… Ten years ago I would have recommended this place but today you can honestly get better and cheaper food at chipotle.

Everything I have ever had here I loved. Here are some of the best dishes I have had– Chicken Guadalajara, Swordfish tacos Veracruz, Cadillac steak fajitas and the catfish. Great appetizers as well, Pasilitos, Gumbo Con queso its all good! Great value too.
