Golden Gate Jewelry

This store doesn’t even rate one star. My husband and I stayed in Sausalito in September of 2012. Our hotel was such that it seemed we passed this jewelry store every time we went out. There was a ring that I kept looking at, and finally went in to have a try it on. It was silver with several stones that looked like blue topaz and or a reasonable facsimile and some clear stones. It was «originally $ 450», marked down to $ 250 and then another 50% off of that. I should have been alerted to what is too good to be true generally is. I bought the ring and wore it quite often for the next seven or eight months, when I noticed that one of the stones had fallen out. I took it to a jeweler who gave me the name of someone who does such repairs. A new stone was found to fit the empty space, but in the process of replacing the stone, another one fell out. The jeweler then inspected the other stones and found that two of them were «capsized» (which I was told meant turned at an angle or sideways) and that were only held in by glue. Since the ring would have been useless to me without the repair, I had it fixed at a cost of $ 100, which was reasonable considering what had to be done. I will never again buy anything from a place that does not seem to be a reputable jeweler. I live in Massachusetts so going back was not an option. What a ripoff!

I recently purchased a few pieces of jewelry and it was a great experience. The girl behind the counter really knew her stuff and helped me a lot. The prices were great and just a little negotiable since I bought several items. She was very polite and seemed to be multitasking since there were other customers she was helping while she was also with me and they liked here too and bought some items as well. I guess since I am from san Francisco and Sausalito is not too far for me I will be going back there more often. And others should try it too from fine jewelry to sterling silver they have it all!

I must respectfully disagree with the other reviewer who gave this store one star. My experience was the opposite. I found the proprietor to be really friendly and helpful. I went there with a friend, and the owner opened all sorts of cases for us and didn’t rush us into a decision. There’s a huge variety of stuff there, from sterling silver to gold to white gold… both precious and semi precious stones, many pendants, chains, and charms. The prices range from $ 20 for sterling silver pieces to several thousands of dollars for gold/​diamond stuff. Overall, I thought the service was good and the variety was excellent. The prices were reasonable (at least at the lower end, which is where I bought). $ 20 for a pretty little sterling silver pendant with cubic zirconia… and came with a silver chain.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced and there was not a single other person in the shop.
