After a long day visiting the bay and Alcatraz we made our way back to Sausalito. Before walking back to our Air BNB we stopped at No Name Bar. It has all the trappings of a local bar There is a TV and some over used tables and chairs. The bartender was quite pleasant. That’s the good news. The cons: the No Name Bar should be named Cash Only Bar. And only tell us when we go to pay our bill. They will sell you cash at their Atm machine. No where is it posted cash only, who in 2016 doesn’t take a credit card. Also, out of non-alcoholic beer. So bring cash to this antiquated old time dive bar and enjoy…

This place is great. Every time I come to Sausalito I drop in here. They have good live music from time to time and it is the best place to meet and chat with friendly locals. I always have stimulating conversations and positive experiences here.

Great place for jazz, blues, friends and family. Never misses a beat. Friendly, attentive bartenders and waitstaff. Steak dinners are a wonderful way to begin the evening here. Finishing it off with a few drinks, pleasant conversation and jazz! Drive, bike or boat! Bring your boat or park your car. Right across the street! How convenient!

Great musicians, bartender and staff. I love going here with friends! The crowd is diverse and the music is sure to get your foot tapping. We’re definitely coming back!

Where is Scarlet? My friends were in town for a visit which always includes a stop at the No Name Bar for a drink and especially to see our all time favorite waitress Scarlet. We are broken hearted to hear she has been fired… say it ain’t so. The No Name Bar is off our list. Nothing at this bar ever changes, why did you let Scarlet go? Bad move!

Following the recommendation of a friend who is a local and loves this bar, my parents and I decided to drop in for one casual drink. I can definitely see why she enjoys it because of it’s no nonsense, no frills atmosphere. It’s definitely a dive bar — no questions there but very fun and the service was really friendly. But it reflects the way of Sausalito which is animated and relaxed at the same time. We ordered from what was on tap. There were only four which was surprisingly to me perhaps since I’m used to extensive amounts of options living in a city. We sat at the open window in the front of the bar which is perfect for people watching and, while we were there, there were a lot of people walking Bridgeway. If you’re in the Sausalito area and looking to just kick back and relax, check this place out.

No nonsense dive bar where time stands still. We took the ferry over to Sausalito in search of burgers and drinks. We didn’t eat, but we did have a beer while we planned our next move. The place is 100 yards from the ferry stop. The back patio was small and not much of a patio, so we opted to sit inside at the bar. If you ‘need’ a beer and want to avoid the crowds, head here first. I also recommend you grab a table facing the door and play, «will they stay?» After about 3 minutes you will know what I am talking about. Good times.

Killer little dive… I’m lost for words. This is my first stop when I cross the beautiful red steel suspension bridge over the Pacific ocean… DIGGGIT. Pick up a burger at Hamburgers Sausalito a few doors down and take it back to this joint. BUENPROVECHO

As local bars go, this one isn’t very different, except for the small courtyard in the rear. I was there one time in 1971 and was pleased to see that I could still remember how to find it 44 years later. Once I walked in the door, it was exactly the same. No changes, just the way I wanted it. Great liquor selections and Anchor Steam Beer on tap. Watched some of The Masters on the TV on a Thursday afternoon, and there were just a handful of us there. But the place likely fills up later. It’s a fun place that got very crowded on a weekend long ago, and it(still) only takes cash. Very authentic and a friendly bartender. Enjoyed the visit and refreshing a memory.

Serviceable bar for what it is. I didn’t get any kind of locals only attitude like some reviewers did but it did lack a certain amount of character. for me at least. they did have a small back courtyard and it was cozy. not sure really what I expected. wasn’t my kinda place but will do in a pinch

I’ve been going to the No Name on and off since I first moved to Sausalito the first time in ’79. It’s charm and ambiance is a true reflection of what Sausalito is all about. Warm, cozy, funky and fun! Where else can you go to hear great jazz every night without a cover(but please do put $$$ in the jar for the great musicians) and chill like you can here? The back room is open and great for smokers and chess players alike — you can often find one or two chess boards going. When I was living on the houseboat community for years, this was my home away from home. Heck, I just might go tonight! :)

After reading decent reviews about this place I made a point to try it on our first night. What a waste. Right when we walked in we were given awkward stares and looks from both the bartender and the couple that he was talking to at the bar(the only other people in there) that seemed to be implying«oh great, more tourists, why are you in our hip, trendy, wanna-be badass bar?» Seriously. Now, by me saying this I realize it sounds like I am a middle aged uptight mom of 3, but I am not. I’m in my 20’s and like the dark/chill atmosphere that No Name had. They just didn’t seem very accepting of new people. My fiancé and I came in with my mom and great aunt(so that is my guess as to why they gave us those looks). I think had we have been on our own, not with older people, they would have been friendlier. Regardless, not good customer service. The inside is very dim, chill, and kind of cool, but nothing amazing. They do have an outdoor area, but we never got back there. Bathrooms could use an upgrade, but that wouldn’t ever be a deal breaker for me. Had the bartender been actually inviting, or at least smiled once at us, I may have given this 3 or 4 stars, but it is honestly nothing special at all. It’s cash only, which I am not a fan of, but at least they have an ATM in there. I have heard that a lot of places in the San Fran area are cash only, so it wasn’t a huge shock to me. Just a bit annoying. Go here if you just want a quick beer, to be looked at like you’re unwelcomed and stupid, and if you like stale smelling buildings mixed with cigarettes.

Cute bar in an otherwise extremely stuckup area. We apparently weren’t wearing the appropriate clothing for the wine bar down the street, so we stopped in here. Definitely a dive bar, but seemed fun and the service was friendly.

Don’t go to this place — seriously! My company went here for happy hour a couple days ago — about 20 of us. I had an interestingly unpleasant experience. The second you walk in, you get a whiff of what smells like mold… I feel bad for the employees who have to breathe this air — it cannot be a healthy environment. I would recommend the health department take a super hard look at this place. Also, the back door was open and people were smoking cigarettes on the patio. The draft brought so much smoke inside it made my coworker’s eyes burn. Overall, this place is really dirty and the carpet is disgusting. I double-dare anyone to take a black light to this joint. Anyway, on to the painful part. They don’t take credit cards so I had to use an atm machine. They pointed me to theirs… sure, I thought, no problem… I will use it. Here’s the part that sucks — I asked for $ 200 and out came six $ 20s and four $ 1 dollar bills. Clearly the machine was loaded incorrectly because if those $ 1 dollar bills would have been $ 20s it would have been the correct amount = $ 200. Instead, I received $ 124. I was shorted $ 76! So I calmly explain to the bartender(whom was a nice guy) that his machine had given me the incorrect amount of money. He tried to tell me to take it up with the machine company… which annoyed me… so I said«nah, can’t we call the owner?» He said okay and called the owner. After calmly explaining to the owner what happened, he accused me of trying to rip him off! Literally, he got loud and yelled at me over the phone… unbelievable! I explained to him that I don’t have time to pull atm scams like this and I genuinely don’t need to… I was there for a work function. He explained that he is the one who loads the atm machine every night and there is absolutely no way he could have made a mistake. Well, the fact is, he did make a mistake and he lost me as a customer and my company will no longer go there on weekly basis. Hey owner, you probably just lost about $ 3,000 a month in sales! Good for you! I don’t know how long this place has been open — my gut tells me quite a while. However, there is no way this place will be able to keep the doors open with an old fashioned jerk for an owner and the filth(seriously health department — check for mold) and gross stench. The lease on this place has got to be a fortune… it’s in one of the most prime locations in Sausalito. My guess… this place is just about to close the doors… which is a shame because the bar tender and waitress were very friendly and if it were cleaned up and managed appropriately it could be awesome.

If you’re in Sausalito, follow the cigarette smoke in to this charming, dive bar. The No Name has been a Sausalito institution for as long as I can remember. My friends and I used to come here in our 20s and sit in their covered back patio(playing board games, smoking cigarettes, and other shenanigans). I came in here late Tuesday and caught a bit of their Open Mic night. It was amazing how little has changed in all these years. Same dark, wooden interior. Same sports memorabilia/newspaper headlines on the walls. Same bartender; same bar flies. Same mellow scene. The amateur musicians on the stage were actually quite decent. They played everything from Van Morrison covers to folk-rock. Keep in mind, this isn’t a cocktail lounge. If you’re looking for a fancy margarita or Negroni, head down the street to either Poggio or Copita. But if you’re looking for a basic glass of wine or a shot of whiskey, No Name has got you covered. * Cash bar. However, there’s an ATM by the front entrance.

Do not come here, it’s horrible I tell you, horrible! Stay away! … mostly because I want this place all to myself. Back in the 60s, my father rented the apartment two spots down the street from No Name, and really, the place hasn’t changed much in 50 years. It’s one of the classier dive bars I’ve ever been to – you treat your waitresses and bartenders right, and they return the favor two-fold with stiff drinks, good service, and a willingness to go down the street for you to pick up food(or you can bring your own, as long as you’re drinking pretty steady). The garden patio out back is one of my favorite places on Earth to get some quiet grading in on a Sunday morning with the 9’ers game on in the background, and the old chess sets make it pretty easy to strike up a conversation with a new friend or at least drinking buddy. Jazz on Fridays and Saturdays generally follows the straight-ahead or blues models, whereas you head down towards Dixie on Sundays more often than not. They’re still bringing in the talent, and people in the know get here a little early to claim seats. 9 times out of 10 I feel like I’m the youngest person here other than the band maybe, but I just feel at home anyways. If your money is green and your attitude isn’t disrespectful, these folks will treat you right. And yes, I do mean green — this is a cash-only establishment. So, while no-name is under new management since the old days, and isn’t quite the beat-era hangout my father used to enjoy, it’s still got a lot of character, class, stiff drinks, and good music. It’s a refuge from the bourgeois tourist haven that is downtown Sausalito… it’s like a time warp back to an era when buying schlock wasn’t the only reason to cross the Golden Gate. Okay, if you’re cool, come join us. But seriously, if you are looking for craft beer, an arugula and sprout salad, or some overpriced cheese, this is not the place for you.

I don’t normally drink beer in the morning. I just popped in here to use the bathroom and wash my hands b/c they were sticky from the ice cream cone I just finished. I ordered a beer b/c I can’t be that person who uses a place solely for their restroom then leaves. Nice dive bar w/a good patio outback. I would’ve stayed for more than one but their draught selection is weak and their bottle selection is worse so I left after one. Thanks for the use of the facilities.

This place is a wonderful place where you can hang with your friends and listen to live music. Yes, this is a dive dark bar but has a distinct character and a good departure from the other look-alike places in waterfront Sausalito. Wish they would cover their cloth sofa with vinyl. No cover charge at all. Try it.

Definitely a dive bar, so if you aren’t into that this is not the place for you. We had a lovely afternoon watching some basketball, drinking beers, and eating popcorn. The staff was nice to us, had a clean bathroom, and fairly cheap beer.
