Rude people working at this store. I don’t suggest buying art from people who treat customers with disrespect

Came across the rudest man and woman working in that store! My husband and I wanted to see some artwork on the second floor and buy it(we are decisive shoppers when it comes to art), but he pretended to ignore us looking up and admiring. Plus, we mentioned going up to the 2nd floor and he ignored us. I would have been more than happy to walk out of there with a Petri painting, whatever your rudeness lost you the sale.

Went in the gallery today with my wife we are looking around for a new piece for our new home.. I have to say I’ve never been treated more rudely in my life. Please spare me the attitude, I was actually embarrassed for you. As a local artist myself I’m very disappointed in the way you treat your customers. Perhaps you should open a 7-Eleven or something more fitting for your customer service skills.

My family’s experience at Petri’s comes as no surprise after reading some of the other reviews. My wife and I have a love of fine art. We have visited art galleries and purchased across Northern California. We have a 3 year old daughter who joins us on our excursions and is very well behaved. We were greeted by the sales associate who asked us if we had visited the gallery before. She proceeded to tell us that our daughter must not touch any of the art. It wasn’t as much her messaging as it was her tone that caught me off guard. It left a bad taste in my mouth considering my daughter did nothing to imply that she would touch any of the art nonetheless would we have allowed that anyways. Either way, I promptly asked my wife to leave the shop. I think this is more of a case of «impact vs intent» but I wouldn’t visit this gallery again, considering after the countless galleries we’ve visited, my daughter has always been treated with kindness and respect. Note to the owner: the Bay Area’s younger professional class is booming and many of us have young families. I recommend you revise your staff’s traditional approach to children in order to relate to the newer generations that are earning large quantities of disposable income.

What a wonderful place to shop for beautiful artwork! The staff at Petris are warm and really well educated on all the artwork. I spent several hours here shopping for a special piece for my new home. The staff knew all about each artist and took the time to educate me on the value of investment quality art. I learned more in this gallery than I have in major museums! It was not only educational it was fun! The staff was extraordinary ! There was one gentleman in particular who was kind enough to work through part of his break so that he could spend extra time showing me the upstairs gallery where they keep more of the artists works. I had such a good experience I plan on shopping to fill my new home from this gallery exclusively. They wrap and carefully ship each piece so that it arrives safely and then they called me to make sure I was happy! I have visited galleries all over the world and often the employees have such a stuck up attitude I feel like I am a bother rather than the person with the checkbook. Not here. They treat you with kindness and respect. I was ready to invite them all out for cocktails! Take a weekday trip if you can … Not so crazy with tourists … Have a wonderful few hours exploring this gallery and then splurge ! I did! It was great!

Petris has been a prominent gallery in Sausalito for many years and I have always enjoyed the beautiful displays of the finest glass to be found anywhere. Petris ambiance is breathtaking when you walk inside. Now glass is also shown on a limited scale, beautifully paired with wall art in the new Petris across the street. There is no finer glass collection for sale in the US.

Owner is unbelievably rude and arrogant. Never seen anything like it. My wife and I are in our mid-50s and professionally dressed. Earlier in the day we were looking for another Dino Rosin sculpture(about $ 15,000) to go with the one we already have, but the salesperson would not allow us to see them. When I asked the owner about it, politely thinking that the earlier salesperson was just having a bad day, the owner made it very clear that we were not welcome and were not allowed to look at the Dino Rosin sculptures. Wow. I wonder who they *do* sell to? I am sorry that Petris is wasting gallery storefronts in charming Sausalito. Fortunately there are galleries in Carmel and San Francisco that sell Dino Rosin sculptures that are much more interested in my business.

Stopped in here while waiting for our ferry back to SF. We are all adults, 4 of us, with jobs and dispensable income. Albeit younger than most of the clientele, I’m sure. We were treated like criminals in this store. We were watched by an associate who had nothing to say to any of us and were met with sighs and glares as we discussed the artwork. Yes, this place is expensive. No, we did not buy anything. But this is an art gallery right near the ferries! You must expect there to be some foot traffic to admire the art. Beautiful artwork, rude staff.

Have been an art lover and collector for over 20 years. When and if I have funds – it goes directly into purchasing art or traveling to see art. The art is not to be surpassed at this gallery. Beautiful ambiance. Just wonderful to go visit this location in one of the most spectacular places in America. Wide variety of works – Varied selection of spectacular for any taste. Love it.

Likes: Glass art is beautiful! The colors, the designs, the way the light sparkles off the glass… I love to walk in and look and sigh. One day when I’m baller, I’ll buy some of this for my house… or maybe just come back to look some more. Dislikes: Pricey! I practically hug my purse while I’m there and try not to touch anything or breathe for fear of breaking something. No pictures allowed inside. Outside is okay. Also across the street is an art gallery also owned by Petris. Some of the safari animals are beautifully carved. The Dr. Seuss collection is cute too. The paintings are just soso.

Petri’s has a great collection and the staff have always been friendly to me even though I have never purchased anything from them. As a collector, you have to know your stuff in order to make an educated purchase. When I have been interested in a piece, the staff were always courteous in showing me the piece(s) and comparing them to others. Also, the staff are very knowledgable and not at all snooty. To look at me you may not think I’m a collector or that I know my glass and that has never been an assumption by the staff at Petri’s. If you’re looking for a great piece you can definitely find one or more here and I’m sure the nice folks here will offer you a discount if you’re not too intimidated to ask. The deserve the five star rating. Thank you Petri’s for sticking around even in this economy and offering us collectors such an amazing choice.

Though the artwork is wonderful, whimsical and BIG, the service does not match up. Instead of being helped by this blond sales associate, we were attacked when we made the mistake of thinking a Murano glass piece was by Chihuly. On another visit there, we asked about some sconces and were told by the same lady, that we would find out about the artist when we bought something. As local residents we have purchased from other galleries in town(Fingerhut & Galerie Elektra)… unfortunately, we will not be purchasing from Petris! OHNO… they’ve taken over the Fingerhut space and now there are 2 Petris… our choices are now much more limited!
