We had the new England clam chowder. It was excellent with potatoes and a lot of clams. Mixed grill appetizer was awesome and a bowl of clams. Place is delicious! !!

The happy hour is the bomb. You can gorge yourself on all kinds of oysters fresh and cooked decadent ROCKEFELLER, or BBQ or baked, clams, shrimp cocktails, rich clam chowder, lobster bisque(I really wish they did not change that to gluten free, about ruined it, nothing as good as it used to be, but sill good if you never tasted the original. I guess you have to follow the herd). Many more things. Given the location prices are great. Bartender very professional. Can not fault anything. Had a question about a recipe, manager himself came to answer. Drinks prepared correctly to the old timey standard. Used to have lobster here sometimes, that was great too. Good value. Too bad they left the old location, but this is not bad at all.

I took my aging mother to what I had hoped would be one of the best meals she would ever experience. We ordered one lobster each, the mixed grill appetizer a beer and coffee. While the calamari was pretty darn good the grilled jumbo prawns were only average and ultimately overcooked. The crab cakes were also small, bready and just mediocre. That however, wasn’t the worst of it. My lobster was 1.5lbs and hers was 1 pound. During my meal I thought that my lobster could have been cooked for just a few minutes less while my mothers was so tough it could have been used to make rubber balls. When I asked the server in what manner they were cooked, he replied and said that my mothers was taken out of the pot earlier than mine and I didn’t believe him. We also spoke to the main waiter/manager? about our experience. But neither one of them offered any kind of compensation. I paid $ 137 for everything we ordered. A high price to pay for the knowledge that we’ll never go back.

Really wanted to like this place… Whole Maine lobster with sides for $ 40? What’s not to love? For starters: extremely poor, slow service. Couple who were seated after hubby and I got served same food(lobster) well before we did. When lobsters finally came out they were not shelled as we had ordered(again couple next to us had shelled lobster) hmm did they get served our order maybe? Waiter(who knew we were on a schedule from earlier conversation with him) actually tried to talk us into staying and eating the lobster after kitchen shelled it. When we refused, stating we now only have 15 min to catch our boat he tried to force us to take the lobsters with us! Looking back it’s pretty funny, at the time though we were hungry and disappointed. He finally realized we were serious about leaving and he took the lobster off the bill, didn’t comp the drinks or cups of chowder that we had ate while waiting. 45 min and no main course, people seated after us served, restaurant not terribly busy… save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else… Scomas restaurant after our sail was amazing!

Seafood Peddler has a good product with an excellent view. Fish prices are a tad on the high side but with the expensive location that can be expected. Selling great fish on the weekend can be a bit fun. Fish isn’t normally delivered on Sunday so anything on Sunday might be at least 24 hours old. We had some seared Ahi and wondered how long they had it. The flavor was okay but not exceptional. We had one of their excellent whole fishes. Seafood Peddler lists the daily catch in the menu. The chef nicely filleted the fish and it was very moist and nicely prepared. This is one of the few times, other than a Chinese restaurant, where we got whole fish that was done well. The fish came with nicely prepared potatoes and Swiss chard. The Swiss chard really rounded out the fish. They also have a fish counter where you can purchase fish for home. The contents were begging to be taken home. We passed since we were on the way to one of our favorite fish markets in Berkley for some evening sashimi. Seafood Peddler sells the popular white chowder, but we prefer red Manhattan chowder. The lobster bisque was intriguing so maybe we will try that next time. Give them a try.

Great happy hour in a wood paneled comfortable marina location. Calamari, chowder, and fish taco with a couple of cold beers, all for $ 22. Old-school, semi-sour bartender and servers, who mentioned that they had 175 years between the three of them…

I’m a Marin County native, so I’ve eaten many places here, and I must say this is one of my favorites. Where else can you order a two pound, whole, live Maine lobster? Great seafood, good atmosphere, a little pricy but worth it. Definitely recommend!

The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The location was nice with a great view of the bay. It was the food that was a deal breaker. Presentation was okay, but lacked on taste. Piccatta sole was pretty salty and the sauce was really really rich. Too much for me. Soups were very good, but wedge salad was saturated in dressing. Angel hair pasta was pretty bland. No levels of fresh herbs or anything. Overall, I do not think I will be back for another try. Once is enough. Enjoy!

Last night we went for my favored meal in all of Marin. Monday and Tuesday is Lobster-night at the Seafood-Peddler. From Caesar salad or Clam Chowder to start off with, to a succulent, sweet and juicy Main Lobster with fresh Corn and tasty coleslaw as the main course. For dessert, key lime pie or lemon tart and an Affogato (espresso, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a shot of Kahlua) and of course a great bottle of Wine, it just doesn’t get any better than that. From start to finish, it was the most satisfying meal I have had in months and we do quite a bit of dining out. If I could, I would love to delete my last Review. I complained about the extra charge by having the Lobster taken out of the shell, but I realized, after having such a wonderful dinner, it’s worth every penny of it.

This an excellent gem of a restaurant a little out of the main tourist district of Sausalito. We were standing outside looking at the menu when a local resident came up to us and told us how great this place was. Our server, Grant, was very welcoming, attentive, and accommodating. I had the Monday night lobster special which is a steal of a deal and my companion had the halibut. Both dishes were very tasty and nicely prepared. While it does not offer views of the San Francisco skyline, this restaurant has beautiful views of the marina. Great food and great service at great prices! I would highly recommend Seafood Peddler and will most certainly be back next time I am in Sausalito.

Dinner for 2. — Ambiance(3⁄5) Old school, traditional seafood place, which had a nice vibe but lighting was just oh so dim. Even after we asked them to turn the lights up, it wasn’t easy to see the food. — Service(4⁄5) Courteous and speedy. A bit awkward to have the bread basket taken away before entrees arrived. — Bread(3⁄5) Good not great. — Dozen Raw Littlenecks, $ 20(5⁄5) Fresh and cleanly shucked. Delicious. — 2.5 lb Dungeness Crab, $ 50(4⁄5) Roasted perfectly with good flavor. Also came pre-cracked, so picking was a breeze. The corn and cole slaw might as well not been served since they really fell flat. — Key Lime Pie, $ 10(3⁄5) The crust was too soft and mealy. — Value(3⁄5) I always cringe a little when I order crab at restaurants, but $ 50 for a 2.5lb crab in a restaurant seems reasonable. The littlenecks carry the day, as they were very appropriately priced. — Final Word Definitely a standard, traditional seafood restaurant that might need a little updating. As a born and raised CT guy, it was nice to see the Eastern influences on the menu. I didn’t get any dish that required specifically strong execution, so based purely on what I ate, I had a good time and would go back.

YES! I finally found oysters! My husband and I had the oyster sampler, crabmeat cocktail, and salmon tar tar. Everything was GREAT. My husband had some kind of bruleed banana tart dessert with caramel, peanut brittle and ice cream. He loved it and I got another half dozen oysters for myself for dessert :) Great location by the water, we sat by and open window looking at the boats. I wish I still had my receipt with the servers name. He was great! Professional, laid back, you could tell he knew what he was doing. It was Tuesday 9÷8÷15. We’re hoping to make it back before we fly home!

If I could eat there everyday, I would but sadly I live in las vegas. So heres a pic of my lobster roll on toast. Omg. If I could reach into my phone and grab it so I could stuff my face all over again. Lol Service was great. They were very nice even though my little one year old was tearing it up. Also there’s a great very from up top of the harbor. Its Kind of a snazzy place to go to so I don’t really suggest wearing shorts and flip flops, in my opinion.

Stopped there recently on our way to Northern California for lunch. Was a bit surprised at how high the prices were, but obviously this is a great piece of real estate. The different bread brought to our table was fabulous. I had a lobster roll which was very expensive. I was somewhat disappointed to find that the lobster was in a salad form, with some celery and perhaps onion. I don’t mind it with a touch of mayo, but this was a bit wet and the flavoring took away some of the taste of the lobster meat. And let’s face it, lobster doesn’t need anything to improve it’s taste. It’s able to stand on it’s own. It’s a nice restaurant with a great view. Service was good too. All in all, I was somewhat disappointed in a small-ish, overpriced and not particularly tasty lobster roll.

The view over the bay is nice, but for the prices I should have gone to Scoma’s. I would have gotten better food for the same price. The waiter was very attentive and was on point. I started with clam chowder and it was presented in a gravy boat then poured into the soup bowl table side. It was good. Not outstanding, but creamy and I ate it all. Looking back it was probably the best thing I ate. I had the Dungeness crab salad sandwich and it came with coleslaw and fries. The coleslaw was pitiful and watery. The fries were stale and tasted old. The crab salad sandwich was ok. It had a lot of mayo and I would have liked them to let the crab shine more than the mayo. For over $ 30 for lunch I really was hoping for a better meal.

I had a stomachache after eating here — the food is probably not that fresh. The service was pretty bad. A bus boy who is completely not trained proceeded to spill the lobster bisque onto my clothing and the floor. And he didn’t even to return to clean up the floor. Out of the dishes, the chowder was the best. Beet salad was disappointing(none of the Californian ingredients that I was expecting) and the fish of the day(grilled dorade was so-so and have a stomachache at the end. It’s a bit of tourist trap. Go to Fish at Sausalito instead.

Sometimes Jamie W. and I get all spontaneous on a Saturday afternoon and take the Sausalito ferry just for the hell of it. It’s not that we love Sausalito all that much, but we like taking boat rides with strangers except the middle-aged, less-than-agile ones who take forever getting on and off with their Blazing Saddles bike rentals. They should have their own barge service, don’t you think? Anyway, we were strolling along Bridgeway amid the packs of foreign tourists and found ourselves meandering along the boardwalk beside the yacht harbor(photo: ). We noticed this place and wondered if it was any good for a late lunch. It didn’t appear to be overrun with tourists, but of course, it had the unmistakable nautical décor and obligatory fish market of a tourist magnet. Since we were between their peak hours, we thought we’d give it a shot. Sure enough, there are several dining rooms, and we were parked in what felt like a newer addition of the space. The menu was pretty robust with lunchtime specials and Sunday brunch options, oysters and whole fish, sandwiches and salads. As we reviewed the choices, we were given quite a bread basket, the most impressive aspect of the dining experience(photo: ). As we loaded up on carbs that would likely jiggle on us on the cruise back, Jamie went for the $ 13.99 Anchor Steam Beer Battered True Boston Scrod Sandwich. Why? Because he loves a good fish sandwich, and it was pretty good topped with a smattering of cole slaw and with a mess of French fries seasoned with old bay on the side(photo: ). I decided to try the $ 15.99 Fresh Bay Shrimp Louis Salad, which was fresh enough but absurdly priced for the portion with a bed of chopped romaine, a hard-boiled egg half and an avocado half as decorative elements. The Louis dressing was on the side which was fine since it really didn’t much lubrication(photo: ). By the time we finished our meal, there was hardly a customer to be found, and the staff was eating their late lunches. I don’t know if I liked Seafood Peddler enough to make a return any time soon, but it wasn’t offensive if you don’t mind the tourist-inflated prices. FOOD — 3 stars… overpriced though the seafood itself was pretty fresh and tasty AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… odd configuration especially the placement of the elevator but nautical enough to match most tourists’ tastes SERVICE — 3.5 stars… attentive enough TOTAL — 3 stars… at least it’s an option off the main corridor of eateries on Bridgeway

We stopped here on a whim while in town and were dissapointed. The location is great and the restaurant is beautiful but we should’ve paid more attention to the nearly empty restaurant on a busy Sunday in Sausalito. The service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately the food was not up to par. My table mates reported the clam chowder was pretty good, the beer battered prawns were huge and tasty, and the scampi was delicious. The seafood risotto had good flavor but as rather dry and lacked the creaminess I expect from a well cooked risotto. The real disappointment of the day was the lobster. $ 34.99 got me a large 1.5 lb lobster that came with 3 minuscule potatoes and a side of slaw. The lobster was beautifully presented but was so overcooked it was like rubber. I couldn’t even cut it with my knife. The claws were good but the tail was nearly inedible. I love lobster but this was the worse one I’ve ever had. $ 175+ for lunch for 4 including tip, I expect better. Unfortunately I won’t be back.

It was an excellent Sunday lunch on a gorgeous sunny day. The view was superb and the ambiance was very fitting. We had great food, which I’m already wanting to return for more. The fish/seafood tasted very fresh and the entrée combinations were very tasteful and savory. The seating was a bit close to each other but it wasn’t too big of an issue. The staff was nice and on point for most things. I look forward to returning here soon!

I don’t want to write this review because I feel that my secret happy hour spot will be known to the public! But… here I go: The Great: + Happy Hour is no joke. Cheap beer, wine, and cocktails. Amazing food options. Simply awesome. Their $ 8.99 burger is one of my favorites and the calimari are always cooked perfectly. + Specials. I think Tuesday night is their lobster special? For ~$ 25 you get a 1lb lobster with all the fixings. A great deal. Also, the sole piccata is wonderful. + Fresh Fish Market. Come in for happy hour and go home with a live lobster? Sure thing. Fresh fish? Why not. Oysters, Clams, Scallops? You bet. Long story short, it’s a great bonus to be able to buy some quality fish to take home and cook yourself. + Lovely atmosphere and a great view of the marina. The Average: o The staff has been hit or miss over the years. I prefer the bar staff to some of the wait staff, but most everyone is friendly/helpful. I just wish people would be a little less stuffy sometimes. o Parking can be a pain sometimes, and the only option before 6pm is paid meter spots. o Outside of the burger, non-seafood and non-fish items have been pretty average. Stick with the seafood and fish! The Poor: — Nothing!

I love their location in Sausalito, it’s quite fitting and overlooks the water with the beautiful yachts and boats ~ breathtaking views. The ambiance is nicer and more cozy. Their previous location in San Rafael was a bit too spacious and tucked away. Where else can one ask for happy hour seven days a week in the heart of Sausalito? Owner Richard Mayfield is the most honest and down-to-earth guy; he has a heart of Gold. He helps out around the restaurant, respects his staff and vice versa. You can tell they’re only loyal to Mr. Mayfield and have no desire to work elsewhere. Great place to catch a game or two with the locals or non-locals, since it’s super touristy. Plenty of parking, especially after 6 p.m. unlike some places in the city. The back dining room area can host a party of 10 – 15, very intimate and you can hear each other. All pros, no cons at this restaurant!!!

Wow wow !! This review is for happy hour. *Tip* happy hour daily 4 – 7 !! After an 8 miles bike ride from sf, we were looking for a snack to recharge. A quick search for happy hours led us here. I was a little hesitant as we were wearing tank tops and shorts, had our bike helmets and backpack in hand. I fixed my braid which was quite disheveled from the winds on the Golden Gate Bridge, and we walked up the stairs leading to the restaurant. We hit the turn at the top of the stairs and were greeted by a chipper hostess. We asked if there was room at the bar for happy hour but the spots were filled. Thoughts quickly raced in my head. She then said we could be seated at a table and still order off the happy our menu. :D !! Score ! We ordered the house Cabernet(4.50) x 2, lagunitas(4.00) Rockefeller oysters(1.79ea) burger with fries(8.99) and bowls of clam chowder(2.99). Yum what a good snack !! Where can you get clam chowder with waterfront view for 2.99? No where ! The food was good, and very reasonable priced. Many times we get carried away with happy hour menus and end up spending a lot more than we would at a full course dinner . Now on to the service. Can I say wow again? Everyone was so attentive and even if I glanced up and evidentially met eye contact, they would see if we needed anything. The food kept flying out back to back! We barely had to wait. We even got free bread for happy hour. I’ve never seen that before. There is a very kind vibe from all the employees here and that is a rare find. I rarely, rarely leave 5 star reviews, and when I do, the food, the price, the ambiance and service is all top notch. They welcomed us here in our grubby sports clothing and gave us 5 star service at a great price. What more can you ask for ? We will definitely be back here to catch another happy hour again!
