My favorite quick stop for lunch on the weekend(or really any day). Highest quality food, always perfectly prepared, friendly staff. Only downside that you never know which treats will be available on any given day, but since they are all good the choice is still hard! My favorite is the Lavender cookie(recipe in their cookbook) or the Hannah(2 lavender cookies with frosting in between). Today I saw a lavender meringue treat. A must try!

The old fashioned vanilla cupcake is the best cupcake of my life. Super cute place with a vintage feel.

A really good bakery in an area where I would never expect it to be. I went in to get some iced coffee with a little snack. The cashier was really helpful, I was not sure what to get so she helped me by telling her top choices. I got the Ice coffee with honey lavender, it was delicious and strong, just how I like my coffee. For the snack, I got the Donut muffin, which was delicious. It has perfect amount of sweetness. Their breads looked really fresh and there was a lot of different varieties available. I would definitely buy one next time. The place has a lot of seating available and prices are reasonable too. Also keep in mind that they don’t accept cards below $ 5.

I wasn’t sure if it was worth going to this bakery, since the photos on Unilocal didn’t look that great and I’m not into sweets, but I went anyway and can only say: GO! It is amazing! The décor and space are so great, you’ll want to just sit there and take it in. And for those of you not into sugar, they serve lunch. I ordered the Jambon sandwich and it was delicious! $ 9 seemed steep, but it was so densely packed with ham and beautifully baked bread that I easily could have shared it with someone. It was so good that even though I couldn’t finish it, I took it with me and devoured it a few hours later– something I would never dare do with most other sandwiches that would be a soggy mess by then.

This bakery is worth the short drive. The rosemary flat bread was delicious. I also had a lavender cookie and split a chocolate hand pie. The prices are fair and the interior is charming. Next time I’m in Savannah, I’m coming back for picnic supplies.

If you live in Savannah, you know that Back In The Day is more than delicious brownies cupcakes and cookies. They also serve lunch from 11 to 3PM. One of the lunch sandwiches is the pig and pimento cheese sandwich. Pimento cheese is making a condiment comeback and that sandwich leads the charge. On Saturdays, go for the cinnamon rolls which are decadent and the breakfast biscuit sammie which is like your grandma’s biscuits.

I’ll be honest, half the reason I booked a trip to Savannah was to come here. I mean have you seen the cover of the cookbook? Too cute. So we go in about 9:30am on a Tuesday and it looks like maybe we’ve been beaten to the punch by throngs of people as there isn’t much in the cases. I was expecting cupcakes but none were to be seen and we were told they were making vanilla ones later. We got a puff pastry and bourbon bread pudding instead. Both were good. I was psyched to see the owners in the back of the bakery toiling over doughs and such and other bakery groupies were excitedly sneaking a peek as well. They worked not speaking, no smiles and wouldn’t even glance up. I don’t know what harm it would’ve done to look up, smile/wave to the people who buy your wares and go back to work but it seemed they weren’t up for it that day. The next day, we went back for some goodies for the road, same time. This time they had those cupcakes… apparently vanilla is all they make? They were two bite sized which was kind of disappointing so we got two cookies… the choc chip shortbread and chocolate chip. The icing was good on the cupcake but the cake tasted like cornbread. Threw that away. The shortbread? Dry. When I make shortbread it’s buttery and this just crumbled and had no taste, not even much on the chocolate chip front. The regular chocolate chip was good after we heated it up. Again the owners were present and when more adoring fans went to the bakery window to see them at work, the male half left the viewing area to talk to a local cop that came in and the woman turned her back to them. I’m sorry but that just kind of turned me off. I know they’re in and out of cookbook tours to promote and may have been tired or whatever but their cookbook came off my wish list after that. One day of blatant ignoring due to a bad moon, I can overlook but two days make me wonder if you appreciate the business. :-(

After three bad encounters with this place, I decided to give it one last chance. Unilocal Challenge 12⁄100 I love giving chances to local business and this time they deserve a good feedback. Please make sure you wake up at 8AM for these incredible buns, they are worth running into walls, sleep walking, and a bag of money. These are the best cinnamon buns I tasted in my life. Their not dry, flaky type of buns you buy from the mall. Conviction– The cinnamon buns coil are moist slathered in cinnamon and sweeten to perfection. The frosting is home made you can tell with just one bite. It tasted sweet yet custard like and makes a great taste. I had a pleasant experience this morning. I will be back for these buns.
