This place makes me feel like I shouldn’t have been giving out other five star reviews so haphazardly, because if anything deserves 5 stars across the board it’s Milstead! The coffee = SO delicious. Whether it’s a latte, cappuccino, or just a regular ol’ cuppa joe it is ALL fantastic. The flavor of their espresso is really smooth; there is no bitter bite to it at all. The service = as good as it gets. I don’t know how these guys always manage to be this friendly and positive every single day, especially early in the mornings, but they do. And they’re efficient, too! The atmosphere = open, modern, casual. They just moved into a new space, and every time I’m in there it’s packed with people. So the only drawback is that you might have a hard time securing a seat if you want to take your coffee to stay. The danger for me is Milstead’s close proximity to my workplace, where I can easily secure semi-decent coffee for free. But, no, it isn’t Milstead!

Oh how much I love Milstead. The new location is definitely more welcoming and warm and the seating is nice but can get busy, so keep that in mind. The baristas are TOPNOTCH and super friendly. Really I’ve never had a bad experience here. Not to mention their pastries that go well with their coffee. I typically order AMERICANOS and you have a choice between a lighter or darker blend. I lean more towards darker blends and theirs is always on point. So if you’re coming down from a show-offy trip to THETROLL just walk down the hill and stop by Milstead. It’s well worth it.

This place has been fantastic since it open, and it has only gotten better over these last four years. Multiroaster brewing some the best coffees from around the country(Portland, Chicago, Seattle etc). Aeropress game is on point! I’ve learned a lot sampling single origin coffees this way. Just moved semi-temporarily about 200ft east, on the other side of Troll Avenue. Don’t be dissuaded!

Great customer service, pour over coffees, priced at about $ 4.75 a cup. We ordered the salted caramel house brew. As you walk in it looks so hipster and cute as they have air plants lining the wall as you enter. They played De La Soul music when we were there which earned a lot of cool cred with my fiancé and I. We had to grab and go but we wished we had more time to stay and enjoy the café environment. They didn’t leave any creamer out with the sugar/stirrers so I had to ask for it but it was getting close to closing for them so maybe that’s why it wasn’t out. My fiancé really liked the coffee(he tends to like acidic brews) but for me I suppose I picked the wrong roast. My coffee palette could be more well refined, but for your reference, I generally like super dark roast non-acidic coffees so not all roasts work for me. Friendly customer service though which is a plus!

Okay. Honestly, we walked in, and it was like any other trendy coffee place in San Francisco… just in Seattle. I mean, really. Vintage wood. Standing sitting. Third wave coffee prices. And pretty damn good cappuccinos. BUT. What I really did appreciate was that they use an AEROPRESS to do their coffee! I am a new fan of this(it makes me feel like I’m cheating on my pour-over set up all the time). The aeropress makes a wonderfully extracted cup of coffee. So… I could be pissy about this place being just like every other hipster place in a major metropolitan area… but damnit. After going here the 4th or 5th time, I had to admit: they do it well. 5 stars.

Sometimes I go there just because I want someone to be nice to me. The coffee is just awesome, and the mochas are not composed of slave chocolate(they use Theo chocolate). But ultimately they are just pleasant people.

This place is the bomb. In a land of Starbucks, this is a wonderful local option. The coffee is expertly crafted and has fantastic flavor. Don’t come here looking for a quick fix. They take their time to do it right, even with drip coffee(which is individually crafted.)

Milstead & Co is located in a great area(right near the Fremont Troll and close to good brunch places) and has great expresso. They get their coffee from Stumptown, Kuma, Intelligentsia, etc which means that their coffee is going to be on point. If you need some extra help, ask the baristas they are very nice and helpful and assist you in asking questions to gauge your coffee likes/dislikes. I actually ended up getting the mocha and it was absolutely lovely! A good mix of coffee flavor with a hint of chocolate goodness. I honestly don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu – it’s all great! My friend even got the chai and loved it. The environment: There is a common area with both high seating with bar stools and normal tables. There’s also an outdoor patio that is very cute(there’s actually a firetruck right in the middle of it) and interesting signs about Seattle’s history. I went around 11am on a Sunday and it was pretty easy for me to find a spot, but be prepared to share a table with someone. It’s a good place for both getting work done and having a casual conversation – I do think this café is more on the quiet side.

Best espresso shot, best dark chocolate mocha in Seattle. Actually, I don’t want to be that dramatic. There are other excellent places to get a shot espresso. Since Millstadt is not a roaster, your mileage may vary. I had the supersonic Concorde bean. For mochas, they let you choose how much sugar and how much chocolate you want to have separately. It’s easy to request the perfect blend. I prefer«not so sweet.» They are a good place to work, with fast Wi-Fi. However, they are very busy, and finding a seat can be difficult.

I came in here for the second time, and I found my drink that I will order every time. It’s not their coffee, but actually their London Fog. I think it’s the best I had so far. I tried Miro’s tea’s London Fog over in Ballard, but this place tops that. It had the perfect sweetness to it and definitely was not watered down(like a lot of the previous places I had). Will be coming back here for some more!

Always so warm, welcoming, and laid back at Milstead, a great artisanal coffee house in Fremont! I’ve tried both a latte and the chai tea latte here, both great flavors. This is definitely my number one coffee shop in the area and It seems like a great place to study too, so I’ll be back, no doubt!

The coffee shop was okay. I ordered an americano. I didn’t really care for the sourness of the coffee. Maybe it was the beans, maybe it was from the extraction. I am not quite sure. But I didn’t really need to add anything to the coffee which is good. The barista was nice. Good service.

I found this place on some website. I was pretty excited to check it out. I ordered a regular latte and an almond croissant. The almond croissant was the smallest one I have ever seen. It was also the driest almond croissant I have ever had. I was not a fan. The latte on the other hand was pretty good. They used Wrecking Ball — Pillow Talk for the espresso and it was fantastic. No sugar required! The prices here are a little high. Well, the coffee drips are expensive as well as the itty bitty pastries.

The Theo mocha tastes like pillowy clouds of chocolate. All of their single origin coffees are prepared on the aeropress, which is unique and cool. A departure from everyone else using the v60 and clever, which are easier to do on a large scale(i.e. Quickly /pour and leave it). They have a very… unique outdoor space. With an old fire engine and a plastic orca and gears and random pots and gates labeled«History House.» Also, fast food trash bins and giant garbage bag tarps and ghetto old library chairs mixed in with ripped Chinese restaurant chairs.

Definitely got the ‘holier than thou’ vibe when coming to Milstead. Don’t get me wrong, my hot chocolate and the boy’s cold-brew coffee weren’t bad at all, but the barista gave us the impression we were drinking nirvana or some other incredible beverage. The backdoor patio(?) area was interesting, with tons of old relics taken from Seattle thrown together to create art(?). I believe they have live music on occasion as well. Overall, good, not great, and quite pricey.

Went here twice, got both variations of the Theo mocha(dark and sweet chocolate). The dark chocolate was very rich, emphasis on the VERY. Every time I took a sip, it coated my tongue in a strong chocolate flavor. Not saying it was bad, but a little too much for me. The second time around had the sweet chocolate! Much better! Had the same flavor as the dark but not overpowering at all. Atmosphere was very chill and I felt like I could spend hours in there! Baristas were also incredibly sweet.

Ordered a cappuccino and didn’t need to add anything to it. It was literally a work of(foam)art. Also, had an apple bran muffin and it didn’t taste as healthy as it sounds, which is a good thing! Bonus: check out the Fremont Troll, just a few steps away.

I like their coffee art. It made me feel special! And moreover, I like their coffee. They do the job of coffee for me. Hubby said his is too acidic but I’m not a coffee snob. It’s 4 star for me for that morning.

Let’s set the record straight. Yes, espresso is ridiculously easy to obtain in Seattle but the fact of the matter is, it is difficult locating a spot serving an amazing cup. Milstead & Co. is one of those special spots in Seattle where you can successfully satisfy your espresso needs. This multi-roaster specialty coffee shop features delicious coffees on their shelf from the likes of Heart, Kuma, Coava, Bows & Arrows, Intelligentsia, Supersonic, Wrecking Ball, and Stumptown. Additionally, you can totally geek out and purchase brewing gear like Chemex, Aeropress, Baratza Encore, Jennings CJ4000 for your home needs. Milstead’s indoor common area offers ample bar-high seating along with a few standard height tables and chairs. If you want a more scenic experience, be ready to brave the brisk Seattle winds and consider enjoying your beverage at their outdoor patio, equipped with 4 – 5 round café tables capable of accommodating 3 – 4 persons per table. Your visit with Milstead begins with warm greetings by the barista taking your order. Don’t be shy. Ask questions! They’ll assist you with settling on a beverage if you’re uncertain. They also feature two types of espressos that will usually have different tasting notes. During my visit, I chose Kuma Coffee’s Bruelas Colombia. One and One: 4.5÷5 In case you’re wondering what kind of espresso beverage«One and One» is, essentially this is split shot of spro, served in two demitasse cups: Single espresso and Single Macchiato water backed. Corey’s spro was delicious and well balanced. A fine job slinging for my One and One. The single macchiato had nice body and natural sweetness. I couldn’t really ask for more! I’ve had so many mediocre espressos in Seattle that finding a shop like Milstead & Co. renews my hopes that amazing coffee and spro can actually be found here in the land known as «The Coffee Capital of the World.» Parking is tricky but if you’re so lucky to score on a spot, chances are it’ll be metered.

This is a super-tippy-hipster place. There is no such thing as a «regular-drip-coffee». It is all air-pressed or espresso. There were 4 choices for air-pressed coffee that day ranging in price of $ 3.50 — 6.50 per cup! We chose 3 different coffees to do a taste test. Two of the coffees were sour/tart(my son, a barista at another high end coffee shop in Seattle says this is the taste people are going for lately) The other cup was smooth and mellow. The baked goods were decent but not spectacular. So I think what I am saying is that we all have our preferences. I have learned that I don’t need a $ 3.50 cup of coffee to be happy and I chalk it up to a new experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and willing to let me stare and ask questions during the«air-press» process.
