Pretty chill little teriyaki/basic sushi spot in the downtown area. I usually don’t have to wait long to get food and the food is pretty good. Nothing crazy and the price is a little high, but for the location(literally in the market), you can’t really complain.

I just needed a quick dinner, and this was the only place that was 1) open and 2) didn’t have much of a line. Also, I couldn’t eat donuts for dinner. Well… that’s a lie. I could totally do that, but that’s not the most nutritious dinner… and that’s why I decided to try Umai Sushi, despite my fears. Any Japanese place that has«umai», «oishii», or «ninki» in it automatically makes me suspicious, because these could all be blatant lies. This place was all right. Nothing special. I got the chicken teriyaki and added a cup of miso soup so I would be over the $ 8 minimum for credit cards. I literally got a cup of soup, as in, it came in a coffee container. I thought she gave me coffee, but it was miso soup. There are few things as confusing as sipping a coffee cup but having miso soup instead. The teriyaki was pretty good. Fair amount of food for $ 8 — came with a pretty pain salad with miso dressing, a giant mountain of rice, and a decent amount of chicken. I wouldn’t go back because it was just okay and it took a little while, but the lady was nice.

Ordered a spicy tuna roll, which is pretty standard. It wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worst. Considering how busy Pike’s Place was, this was super convenient and quick! They have some other types of street food I’d like to try another time.

Great food! The tofu was excellent and served with the best teriyaki sauce I have ever had. The beef was good and the vegetable yakisoba was the best I ever had. The location is great located near the entrance to pikes place. If you go here don’t forget to order the bubble tea.(the best one is taro)

My go to ‘meat on a stick’ place in the Market. Good prices and tasty handheld portable meat sticks(orange chicken, teryaki chicken). Sushi is tasty too and they have end of day specials. Nice couple who run the joint. When done, turn around and hit Daily Dozen for some donuts!

We were visiting Pike Place Market with our family and friends and I picked up an orange chicken skewer at this place. I stepped about 4 feet away to the line where my sister was and she stepped backwards, reeling from the smell of the meat on my stick. We looked at each other because we both realized it smelled like WETDOG. It was awful. The people in line also stepped away and said it stank! I could not even bite into it and I am not a picky eater ATALL. I politely asked the lady at Umai if she could exchange the stick for something else, as I had just bought it minutes before and it did not smell right and she said she would do nothing. She told me I could BUY something else. Seriously?!? Why would I buy something else when the chicken you just handed me smelled like a stinky wet dog? What horrible customer service!!! I will NEVER go near this place again.

Grabbed a quick pre-made tuna avocado roll. It was fresh and pretty tasty but too little fish /too much rice. Also while it was 8 pieces, $ 6.95 still seemed too much, even for being in a bit tourist spot.

My mom sort of gravitates to Asian food(I don’t know why!) and Umai Sushi and Teriyaki was one of the few Asian restaurants open. I had a bite of their Chicken Katsu and it was pretty good, HOWEVER, they definitely cross contaminated with either fish or peanuts(two foods I’m allergic to) because I started breaking out in hives. I’m sorry, but businesses with poor food handling processes deserve 1 star.

This place is located in the popular tourist site, Pike Place in Seattle. We went here just to look around and got hungry. For a tourist food place, it doesn’t stand out very much, the place is dirty and the equipment including the chairs were quite wobbly. Ordered some teriyaki and also some udon but it was very plain and small portioned while the pricing was not paired well with the amount of food we got. It made me think twice before letting my hunger decide where to eat.

Looking for some food we could grab and go with to eat while walking to The Paramount to see Wicked. This place has meat skewers that you can mix and match. We got two karage and two orange chicken skewers. They reheat it on the grill so it’s nice and hot. Best and fun meal to eat while walking through a cold and rainy night on the streets.

Solid food — slightly over priced but given it’s location, not bad!

It’s Seattle at Pikes Place. The food is terrific but don’t go looking for a less than chaotic and frenzied atmosphere. If you close your eyes and tune out the grunge music you can imagine you are in japan.

Leaving Osaka, I had some voids within my stomach, so I swooped in here for a snack fix: Gyoza/Potstickers. It was nice how they didn’t seemed fried, but steamed(?). She dropped them on the grill, squirted some water and trapped them with a round bowl. The result was pleasantly soft and chewy gyoza with a subtle browning.

I only ate here once and got the pork teriyaki, which is what my review is based on, so take it with a grain of salt. I am not sure why others giving this place 4 star reviews. The pork in the teriyaki does not taste like pork. It tastes like meat that was sitting in the freezer for far too long and has lost all flavor. The teriyaki sauce was not very good, and had far too much salt. The iceberg lettuce salad on the side did nothing to elevate the quality of this meal. Overall, not a very good experience. I will not be going there again.

One of the many places within Pike Place Market that you can get food, they are located right across the walkway from the famous mini donut stand that seems to have a never ending line of people. My favorite item to get here is the teriyaki chicken stick which is perfect for munching on while walking around checking out all the sights and sound of the market. I honestly have never tried anything else, but I do suspect their sushi is pretty good as there is always people waiting in line to order some while I am there. The employees are always friendly and do their best to get through the lines quickly. I have never had to wait very long for my order even when there’s been a long line. I may have to try some of their other items since they do offer some pretty good daily specials on sushi and rice bowls.

This is my favorite Teriyaki place ever. Very tasty pork Teriyaki. Good price. There only like two cooks, so it takes a little bit to get your food when it get busy. Worth it though.

Teriyaki: Teriyaki(kanji:; hiragana:) is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are **broiled or grilled** in a sweet soy sauce marinade(tare in Japanese). Based on this definition, Umai failed to serve me real chicken breast teriyaki, because there’s no way what I got was broiled or grilled. It was most definitely BOILED chicken. Tough, not very flavorful, no grill marks. Should be tender. I’ve tried one other Teriyaki spot(that we call Scaryaki due to unclean restaurant… not sure the actual name of it), which I thought was awesome. However, I got regular Teriyaki there, vs. chicken breast Teriyaki at Umai. Jaw is a bit tired from chewing. Everything else seemed ok though.

Say what you will, but I liked this place. I was looking around for some food in PP, and Umai looked the best. I got udon soup and my friend got the cheapo chicken teriyaki. My udon was piping hot, so I pretty much had half of my friend’s meal while waiting on mine. It was delicious.. . Nothing we ate was sitting around in trays. We were waiting on our meals for about 7 – 10 minutes. Go for it.

This review is only based from their chicken teriyaki. Never tried the other menus. Personally, I think their chicken teriyaki is really good. I’ve been here like 4 times… I also invited my friend here for lunch and he ordered chicken teriyaki(my recommendation) and he actually liked it. 1 order is actually good for 2… for 6 bucks. Good deal.

I’m not sure which is worse this place or World Wrapps( ). Nothing here is ever good and it all looks like it has been sitting in its steam tray just a little too long. Don’t go here please what ever you do stay away unless you want to feel sick for the rest of the afternoon.
