Stopped here on my way back to Charlotte. The menu has a lot of options; I chose fried shrimp and catfish. My mashed potatoes came out absolutely plain, no gravy or butter, not even really any salt. The waitress tried to pressure me into accepting the whitefish the cook had mistakenly made instead of my catfish. I politely refused. Hushpuppies were tasteless. If I lived in NC/​SC, I probably wouldn’t visit again. So many other places do comfort food much better.

The perfect greasy spoon. Very reasonable prices. Friendly wait staff, know your order. Great breakfast and lunch specials. Senior citizen discounts available.
#BaconAndEggSandwich a little smaller bread than other places, bacon is usually medium thickness, will put any kind of egg on it that you want.
#tea a little too sweet for me, I do half and half here, sometimes scorched.

If you want that small local family feel type of diner this is the place for you! The staff was amazing, so friendly and helpful, also very personable! This was a PERFECT stop on the way to Asheville from Charlotte. I am a big fan of the small town diner. The food was mediocre, but expected for this kind of place. Livermush was cooked to perfection, grits were delic, omelette was ok (maybe a little overcooked), my mom had the pancakes which were delicious! It didn’t appear sanitary at first, but I think that’s what gives it its charm! All in all a great experience and a full belly!

A few years ago, my wife and I went to the clock and weren’t terribly impressed. Ie didn’t go back for at least 4 years when I was meeting a friend for lunch who liked to eat there. I went along with him and found that the food was actually quite good (apparently the management has changed a few times). Very good southern meat and three style food. I particularly like their chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken w/​white gravy. The service, even at lunch, is kind of slow, so if you’re pressed for time you may need to go somewhere else.
