disappointed this place closed. they were the best at smoking meat, always had great smoky flavor.

Everyone was always nice to me there. One time they ran out of chicken on a big order and threw in some beef ribs. All my next orders included beef ribs. As some people have said, the brisket was only serviceable. However, the pastrami was out of this world. I consider myself to be a pastrami connoisseur and theirs was phenomenal. For BBQ in Los Angeles, I think Smoke City is top notch. I hear they have a truck that tours the downtown area. You won’t find the pastrami on the menu, but It’s still worth a trip if you’re nearby.

My company had catering from Smoke City Market BBQ, and I’m not sure why this location is closed, but the MACANDCHEESE and the BBQBEANS! oo-WEe, I can’t get enough! The pulled BBQ Pork and BBQ Beef Brisket were so tender. I hope I find their shop soon!

I’m from TX and love me some BBQ! So, I’m a tough judge… That said, Smoke City Market was definitely good. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The ribs were tender and had good flavor. But I was underwhelmed by the brisket. The flavor wasn’t there. We got the moist cut, but even then it wasn’t that juicy. The banana pudding was more custardy than chunky, good flavor but wanted more bananas. I would definitely go back! UPDATE: Love that I left a review and the owner got back to me! Service definitely A+. As far as what I’m looking for in the brisket — More salt for sure.

My boyfriend was craving BBQ. He turned to Unilocal and found this place. Thanks Unilocal! The street is busy and not a lot of parking but we did find a parking spot in the back. We walk in and I am impressed with the look of this place. Very western. It was not busy as we stood at the counter and looked at the menu. The gentleman answers a few questions and we’re ready to order. We both ordered a two meat combo. Prices are very reasonable for BBQ. Our food was ready very quickly. I had the brisket and chicken. I especially enjoyed the brisket. The chicken was pretty tender too. The BBQ sauce is delicious and spicy. There is an extra charge for ribs when ordering the combo. The meat is smoked here and the sides and sauces are made from scratch. Smoke City also provides catering and Thanksgiving turkeys. Lunch specials offered Mon — Fri until 3pm. I thought service could of been friendlier. No one checked in with us after we started eating and we did not get a greeting as we walked out. We did spill some water and someone came to help clean up. Overall good food. I would return for a hearty meal when in the area.

NOMNOMNOM. My boss went there for a lunch and brought me back some ribs and potato salad. So delicious! The meat came off the bone easily and there was plenty of it on them, too. Since I didn’t actually eat it there, I can’t comment on the restaurant itself, but the food feels very much like a traditional BBQ.

Good ribs. Sub-par moist brisket. Good mac and cheese. Its unfortunate because the atmosphere makes you feel like you are about to have one of the best Texas style BBQ experiences of your life or at the very least in Los Angeles. I lived in Texas for a year and this place is extremely authentic. Picnic benches, you bbq served on parchment paper and plastic trays. The color orange every where. The service is quick and friendly and I love the Shiner Bock on tap But texas style bbq is judge primarily on its brisket and this was not great. If you go get the beef ribs or the pork ribs they were good.

Although this location for bbq is a bit too far I still gave a try. Parking is okay luckily around 9 pm there is parking right up front compare to going at daytime. I really enjoyed the creamed corn one of my favorites and the coleslaw. Too bad that this last time there was no corn bread and it did feel well overpriced :(. Service was ok and the food was good.

Pros: + Cool location + Smells delicious + Awesome staff and customer service Cons: — Meats weren’t very good — Odd tasting BBQ sauce Not what I was expecting. Smelled good when we walked in, but the meat was very dry and bland. The Beast sandwich was pretty small and the meats inside were cold by the time I got the sandwich. The sausage in the sandwich seemed a bit undercooked. The pulled pork was dry. The brisket was ok, but there was only one slice of it in the sandwich. Their BBQ sauce sucked! Have never tried such an odd, bland BBQ sauce. The German potato salad was also meh. I felt like the meal was over priced. Will not be coming back here which is a shame because the place was nice and the atmosphere was great. The staff was cool, I’ll give them that.

Horrible. Not worth the drive from the city. If I weren’t going to Costco I’d really be pissed! The place is overpriced, understaffed and a waste of time and money. Go to dr Hogly Wogly’s you’ll be much happier! Thank you for responding, it shows however disappointed I was that at least the owner cares. I ordered the 2 meat plate with moist brisket and ¼ chicken. I got baked potato which counted as two sides…(Not so happy with that) and ordered the beans. The two people I ate with were less thAn thrilled with the beans and or the price. In all actuality however large the side was or the price I wouldn’t of liked it.

Ordered the Deli Pastrami sandwich. Deli must be code for«Don’t put any meat in the sandwich.» I am mad at myself for not complaining, but $ 9.95 for a sandwich with one wafer thin slice of pastrami is ridiculous. I honestly could not taste anything but the bread. I don’t think there was a half of an ounce of meat in the sandwich. I wish I had read reviews ahead of time. I will not be back.

Ehhh. I ordered the brisket sandwich lunch special that came with one side and a drink. It came with two slices of brisket. It was OK at best. The fat on the brisket was smokey and the best part, but nothing to write home about. Our sides were beans and the slaw. We also got the corn on the cob and it had the oddest taste, couldn’t put my finger on it. Wouldn’t come back. Pros: you get your food quickly

Okay, so a year ago I caught an employee(carver?) who was having a bad day, seemed nonchalant. I’ve been here several times since. And, he has parted ways. My beef-yeah, I just went there, was never with the quality of the meat and the sides. Thrill list gave them Best beans. Their ribs, pork and beef are great. Pulled pork, I’m all in. Brisket is yum. And a nice selection of cold and hot sides that has something for everyone.

We finally made it down to Smoke City Market for a late lunch. I was pleasantly suprised to hear that they serve their meat without sauce. This works out perfectly for us low carbers. We mentioned to the cashier that we had never been in before and she helped walk us through the menu options. We ended up ordering a side salad(which has corn and blackeye peas, we missed that description and had to end up tossing a lot of the salad since we couldn’t eat those) to share and full pound of brisket along with a half pound of pulled pork. We asked for the brisket to be nice and fatty and it definitely was. The pulled pork was decent but I probably wouldn’t order again, just didn’t have much going on for it. I think this place is A-ok but maybe a bit overpriced. Also the menu board confused us a bit in terms of pricing. We thought the price was per pound(it is per half pound on the menu board and per pound on the receipt) and didn’t realize our mistake until we got the receipt. At nearly $ 20 a pound for brisket, our little lunch was pretty steeply priced. Friendly service, picnic table and bench seating… they serve booze and have lots of TV’s to watch sports on.

And the search continues in Los Angeles for memorable BBQ comparable to the rollin smokehouse bbq of las vegas. Geez, what a shame. Over ten dollars for a brisket sandwich and a german itty-bitty side potato salad is no laughing matter, especially when the german potato salad was literally just pieces of potato with some seasoning on it. The brisket seemed a bit charred on the side, but was alright. Boy are they REALLY stingy on their portions. I took off a piece of brisket to just try by itself, and that was 1⁄3 of the sandwich! The low of the meal was definitely the watery bbq sauce. Is this what texas bbq sauce tastes like? It seemed very sweet, but lacked any sort of zing. The texture was more like au ju rather than ketchup. I don’t know any bbq sauce that is this watery… bleh Server was friendly on the plus. Can’t recommend this place, and was surprised that renowned viewer, Jonathan Gold gave this place such high remarks. Probably was paid off.

Items ordered: 2 Meat combo($ 13.25) — Baby back ribs($ 2 extra), brisket, Mac and Cheese, and Red Chili, Fountain soda($ 2.25) — Total with tax — $ 19.08 Pretty decent bbq overall good place. I like that the bbq doesn’t come covered in sauce, you can add sauce to your liking. The ribs were ok, it was smoked a little more than I prefer because the meat was not as moist as I like. The brisket was ok also, also not as moist as I prefer. I liked the sides. The Mac and Cheese was bomb, pretty rich though. In the picture it looks like macaroni salad, but it was definitely mac and cheese. Really cheesy. The chili was good, it has no beans and they use leftover chunks of bbq in it. Overall the place was ok, but there are places similarly priced that are better.

Ok. let me start off by saying, ive been coming here for awhile now,(over 2 years) trying to keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. i work nearby and its the only quick BBQ place around to satisfy my craving. The Brisket. used to be good. but now more recently it tastes old and rubbery. The moist brisket is extremely fatty. The chicken. portions are small, drumstick was BARELY bigger than a chicken wing. same taste as the brisket. ribs. OK in my opinion, again, tastes the same as the 2 items above. hard to tell and distinct any difference of flavors in the 3 different meats. They ALL tasted the same. There were no rubs, flavors, or sauces to choose from. But i must admit, the BBQ sauce is good. probably the only reason it gets 2 stars. The sides. the mac and cheese is decent. nothing u cant make in a pot at home in 10 mins for the kids. Chili was awesome, had small shards of brisket in it. WHATMADEMEMADTHEMOSTISTHESIZEOF A SIDE! The side order was literally about 2″ tall. Not worth the $ 17 i paid for a 2 item meal.(pics posted) Over all, not worth your money at all, all the meats taste the same. Seems the meat isnt of good quality as well. Save your money!

Dont bother with this place. Huge mark up on food that will not even come close to being worth the price your paying. I stopped in because I read some good stuff a year or so ago about the beef ribs here and I will happily pay through the nose for a good beef rib as that is my favorite type of BBQ. The Cut of meat was just perfect but they wrecked it. It tasted like it had been in a slow cooker all day and was dropped in to smoke for just a few minutes before serving it to you. Matter of Fact my wife had the pulled pork and that too was not very warm even as if it had been cooked quite some time ago and they just heated it up quickly but not enough. the sides were a joke. I returned the BBQ corn twice before giving up as each piece looked exactly the same. like it had been cooked almost three days ago and was just heated up not to mention that the kernels were practically gone on half of each one(see my photo’s) the cream corn was also something not worth tasting. When I was a kid I used to pretend that I could cook. I would grab some left overs from the fridge, mix it in a bowl and feed it to my little brother. it was horrible but he would be nice and pretend I was a genius. Yeah I was not the best big brother. Anyway my point is that the Cream Corn here tasted like someone made Mac&Cheese and forgot to add the noodles then threw in some Corn cause that was what they had in the fridge. it had a ton of Salt in it too… I’ll be drinking water for the rest of the night to get the taste out of my mouth. Side Note. the service was great and I gave a 20% tip to show my gratitude for that. Dial back in the food here and you could really have something nice. Guess I will go back to looking for a good BBQ place in the Valley.

This is a nice, unassuming BBQ joint with good food. As soon as you reach the door, the smoke hits you in the face, but in a good way :) . Walk up to the counter and order from the menu board. Once the food is ready, then you pay. The staff was so friendly and helpful. There are 2 types of brisket from which to choose — lean or moist, which is more fatty and more flavorful. The moist brisket and pulled pork were smoky and so tender. The accompanying sauces were very flavorful with a bit of a spicy kick. For the side dishes, the potato salad was unremarkable, but the red chili and pit beans were quite good. The combo plate is also served with 2 pieces of ‘wonder bread’. Lunch sandwich specials are a deal — from 11−3PM they offer their sandwiches with your choice of a side and soda for $ 2 extra. Portions are good sized. If you are in the mood for no frills, good Texas BBQ at reasonable prices, this is the place to go. parking — free 1 or 2 hour street parking, depending on the street

So I found this place on this youtube restaurant channel I was subscribed to and got excited to go try out some BBQ in Sherman Oaks. They made it look like some great BBQ but after a few minutes we sadly realized it was just well made hype. My brother and I had actually made quite a drive to come here too so maybe I set my expectations too high. Its a pretty large place but it was mostly empty for a Saturday. The Menu was a little confusing too so my brother and I decided to try the 2 Meat Combos so that we try sharing different things. So 4 things Beef Brisket 5 out of 10 pts Jalapeño Link 1 out of 10,(I think we are just used to them being not dried up) Half Rack Ribs 5 out of 10 Pts Beef link 2 out of 10(Not sure if hot links are meant to be dried out tasted hard and flavorless) German Potato Salad 10 out of 10 Texas Cavier 10 out of 10 Mac & Cheese 7 out of 10 Coleslaw I think was also 7 out of 10 BBQ Sauce 5 out of 10 pts Portions appeared small but with all the sides they really filled you up. I don’t know if it was just an off day or what but the food lacked some serious flavor.
