Used to get drunk there in the 80’s. Lots of fun. They had food?

To the owners of Stanley’s: Thank U for such memorable lunch and dinners with premium service. Has fabulous times and celebrations there with my Hubby, Friends & Family. What a shame U closed. I am not the only one that is going to miss U. There is a whole community of people will be missing U because U just didn’t just serve us drinks and meals, but because U were family. Thanks for the memories and God bless U all in your next venture… Hopefully Stanleys II…

I am so very sad to hear that Stanley’s has permanently closed. :((The Valley will not be the same without it. I had so many good times there, & many memories were born there. Great food. Great atmosphere & vibe. What a shame… I would love the recipe for the salad dressing that they put on PEGGY’S CURRYSHRIMPSALAD. That salad & dsg. was to die for.

As a long time patron of Stanleys, this is a terrible loss. For us, it has always had consistently good food at reasonable prices. personally, I’m a fan of the Cobb salad, and the Turkey burger. Wish we had known, and possibly have helped stop the closure… Hugs to all

I loved Stanleys, especially Amy’s Grapefruit salad. Apparently the closure has been confirmed as permanent. i am giving them five stars for staying in a tough business for 32 years providing a great restaurant on the Blvd. and jobs for 60 employees. Now, if they will only publish the recipes for the dishes we will be missing(grapefruit salad). Best to all the staff.

The owners should have asked diners for a loan– they would have had $$$ in a blink on an eye Stanley’s is a Los Angeles Institute and without it we will feel a great loss… A very sad time. The owner should have seen this coming and planned a kitchen remodel the didn’t devastate them.

So sad to see this valley gem go. It’s been our standby for years. My family, friends, co workers… A warm, friendly, tasty place. The bartenders are top notch and the food was always consistent. Oh what to do w/no more rotisserie chicken, wings, or Secret salad dressing:(!! Thanks for the memories. And to those of you who said you’ve gone there for years and gave them one star now that they’ve fallen on hard times, Shame on you. Your the one’s who should be embarrassed… Fair weather friends I say.

For over 30 years Stanley’s Restaurant & Bar has been serving customers on Ventura Blvd. THATTIMEHASCOMETOANEND. It appears that the restaurant will not be reopening as the expense of rebuilding the kitchen to meet health codes is too much for the owners(Anne Patterson and Greg Sadofsky), who are not as young as they used to be. 60+ employees are looking for work now. Goodbye Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. Drove my Chevy to the Levy…

Yep… L.A. Health Dept. suspended the restaurant’s permit. Multiple violations. Very disappointing and sad.

Unfortunately closed down by Health Dept for a few weeks for cockroach activity :(that will answer some of the questions of why they are closed right now. Otherwise pretty atmosphere but eh food isn’t great & after hearing the health dept issue I won’t go back.

Would give it more starts if not the waitress’s attitude. She looked like she was having a really bad day and didn’t even make an effort not to show it. So one star for location, one star for the nice patio, and another star for the good food.

I’ve been going to Stanleys for over 20 years. The Amy’s salad is great, we sub the grapefruit with Mandarin oranges. They sometimes have as a special, which they should put on the menu permanently, it’s with there famous delicious chicken salad & papaya. the Bread is so good! What they do need to do is: get new utensils, some of the forks are bent and so old upgrade the women’s bathroom, old toilets & they don’t work

My husband and I were so happy to find this place. It’s open late and the food is delicious. The waiter was alright as he forgot about us a little bit but we did walk in kind of late and he had a few tables. It was my husbands birthday and I asked the host for a small dessert with a candle and I was so happy to see the chocolate chip cookie pie with vanilla ice cream. My husband had the pesto chicken pasta which was amazing and I had a half chicken Caesar salad. We were so full afterwards. Definitely worth it. We sat outside and our table had a small candle which was so nice.

I want to dedicate this paragraph to Amy’s grapefruit salad. Butter lettuce massaged in sesame dressing is the foundation of any elite salad. Add cashews, avocados, grapefruit, and replace the chicken with salmon… and«Ta-Da» you have a delectable concoction. I also ordered the chicken skewers… slightly zesty and marinated just right. The roasted vegetables were perfectly grilled. The portion sizes here are on point. This place has been around for over 30 years… so you know it has to be good. I like to think of this restaurant as an upscale Hugo’s(studio city).

I just realized that I have been coming to Stanley’s for many years and didn’t write about it. I love this place. It offers great service and wide variety of food! I have tried Cobb salat everywhere I go and none of them comes close to the Cobb a salad at Stanley’s. If you like this salad, please add avocado and it get’s even better. I also love their freshly baked bread… It reminds me of bread I lover growing up in Kiev, Ukraine. Tuna melt is my other favorite. So much taste and goes great w sweet potato fries! Stanley’s has been recently remodels and it is such a cool place to hang w a few friends and watch a game at the bar or on the patio. Also, excellent place to take a client for lunch! Thank you for being in heart of Sherman Oaks and staying cool and hip!

Met for brunch here with about 15 girlfriends. Hostess was very sweet and accommodating. Our servers were very patient and served us our various drinks with a smile :) I got the mimosa and Huevos Rancheros which was two eggs served on two mini crispy corn tortillas! Loved that it was a crispy tortilla– gave it a satisfying crunch. It’s also served with a few slices of fresh fruit which was a sweet touch The mimosa was a champagne glass filled about ½ with orange juice and then they give you a mini bottles of champagne so you pour your own drink– never had that before. Some friends got the French toast and it smelled amazing– and from the sound of it was just as delicious as it looked

Stanley’s is, in a word, average. The kind of average that makes you wonder why anyone who makes seven figures would visit it(I’m not naming names, Kardashian family. And no, I don’t specifically scout out restaurants or any other businesses America’s most annoying family may endorse. It’s just that my friend used this line as a way to convince me to go here: «The Kardashians go here all the time!» I just laughed at her). Anyhoo, I’m not knocking it conceptually — I love a stereotypical decently priced lunch spot with a non-creative menu that’s heavy on salads. I am, after all, a California born and raised lady, and I cannot help the pitfalls of my personal circumstance. Here’s the thing: I went here semi-recently, and I can’t even remember exactly what I ordered. Red flag number one. I can go to a phenomenal restaurant once — even just once — and still be able to recall its splendor, complete with detailed menu descriptions, years after the fact. I do recall ordering a salad. I do recall it tasting remarkably bland. I do recall the appetizer we ordered was not a saving grace(as appetizers, in my experience, tend to be at these kinds of places — in this case, that appetizer was calamari). Nothing was offensively bad, but it just wasn’t great. Service was perfectly pleasant, and the ambiance was nice and open(we sat on the patio). I’d like to come around another time and order something else and see if I can bump up this rating. I feel like Stanley’s has potential, if only they would let themselves get a bit more creative and add a little culinary punch to their food.

Went to Stanley’s for the first time about 4 weeks ago with my family and my wife’s family, and it was a nice time, with a few minor complaints. We parked across the street at a meter, though I believe we only had to feed 30 minutes, as the street parking becomes free at either 7 or 8pm(I apologize, I forget if we ate at 6:30 or 7:30). The appetizers were tasty, if a tiny bit on a small side. We ordered 2 for a table of 6, which isn’t much, but at a lot of restaurants that would at least be a few bites for everyone. A little less than that, here. They had run out of the rotisserie chicken, which was a shame, as I didn’t feel like it was that late, nor was it terribly crowded on a Tuesday night. Still, they recommended a very good pasta dish(with a red sauce), and I was happy. I believe one other person’s dinner had an ingredient they were unaware of, so she had to send it back. Still, I didn’t feel like the restaurant ever took any issue with us, despite being a somewhat complicated table of digestive issues, and I really enjoyed my second choice menu item. I would recommend Stanley’s, and I bet if I went back on another night, I’d give the place a 4-star. On this night, however, those little issues drop it to a 3.

We really liked this place. Started off shaky, as our waitress was not the friendliest, and actually gave me an attitude when I asked her about gluten free items on the menu. She clearly has absolutely no idea what gluten can do to someone who is allergic to it, and clearly doesn’t even understand that gluten is found in so many food preparation items OTHERTHAN bread… we actually almost left. But thankfully, my husband flagged down the manager, and she was just wonderful. She understood our concerns, and even brought us the packaging for one thing we were afraid to get, so we could use our app to make sure it was safe. It is obvious why this woman is the manager, as she knew how to change a bad experience into a good one. We ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which was delicious Pasta parmesan… amazing, one of the best any of has tasted Pasta parmesan(GF) incredible… we couldn’t really tell the difference between the two Salmon salad… very good Calamari(TWO orders). very good, however, the bus boy could not understand to bring out the correct sauces. We had to show him the photo I took of the first order(for Unilocal), before he even knew what we were talking about. Weird. Coffee is insanely good. No up price on Gluten free items. Yay, another restaurant not trying to take advantage of people with health issues. In time, all will realize that one person who has a good experience will bring in their friends and family for future times, knowing they will not be ripped off or treated badly. We spent $ 130 here for dinner that we never would have, if they did not offer gluten free items. And we will be back. I think their possible $ 2 of ‘extra’ expense to prepare our daughters food was well balanced out by the rest of our order.
