I used to like this Marshall Field’s and their café downstairs in the basement. However, since the switchover to Macy’s, I’ve been consistently disappointed. When we set up our wedding registry, we were promised that we were going to get extra points if we registered our Macy’s credit cards with our registry — since we didn’t have them on us at the time, we were told that they’d add it on later. Even though we added them on later, we still didn’t get the points. The Café downstairs has gone downhill. My husband orders their sandwiches but the bread is so tough that he always ends up ordering soup to dip his bread in to make it even chewable. Sure, they have great sales, and service is decent, but with these two points, it stays at two stars.

This department store is one of the anchor tenants at Old Orchard. Just like the venerable flagship store in the Loop, this Field’s is on the brink of changing to a Macy’s, which will be a sad day for sentimental suburban shoppers.

I don’t really like this Field’s. It seems really crammed up and crowded all the time. And the customer service here is nothing to really get all excited about. But of course, they have a great selection, and if you know exactly what you need, its a convenient stop.

Not as great as the State St. store as previously stated, but you sorta expect it. Their cosmetics section is rather weak and the employees arent so helpful. I think I’ve only made a purchase here twice in my entire life.

This Field’s isn’t as good as the one on State Street, but then again, no Field’s really is. My only real problem is that they have the chubby girls section back behind the furniture and bedding. What kind of crap is that???
