I took the knife skills class with Chef Amber and I had a wonderful time. Small class size, individual attention, take-home info, and a discount for future classes. Everyone is very helpful and nice. So glad I wandered into this great store!

I just had a lovely experience here. Rosi was beyond helpful and knowledgeable. I came to drop off my Nespresso pods for recycling and I ended up chatting with Rosi over a delicious complimentary espresso. I was clear about not purchasing anything this visit, and still received exemplary customer service. When it comes time to upgrade my Nespresso machine(or purchase any kitchen gear) I will be sure to return.

We recently had a houseguest who thought it was fun to spend money unnecessarily(teenager spending her daddy’s cash), and since I spent WAY too much time at malls(which I avoid like the plague) trying to make her stay with us less«boring,» I thought I would at least go in ONE store that might have stuff I could use. So, anyway, after we(my two tiny ones, a teen and me) spent like 1.5 hours in the store(bathroom in store was nice), I had to ask for a metal«turner»(which I call a spatula) as they only carry like one, but there’s a hundred of those crummy silicon or plastic ones(which don’t work with cast iron cooking on top of a super-charged gas cooktop thank you very much). That was fine, it was even on sale, so that’s great. But the checkout gal had a poopy attitude just cause I asked her a simple question which I think she had a hard time comprehending and so she just said NO. Then she was a jerk for the rest of the checkout. But whatevs! It’s not like I’ll EVER go back to that store :-) cause I’m at HOME, busy COOKING food, not hanging out at ridiculous malls where they have snobs as cashiers in a snobby town. I just hope that checkout chicky grows up and has lots of her own children! Hahah(the men working there were really nice, btw)

I like this location. It is always well stocked and they pack a whole lot in a small venue. The staff is always ready and willing, as well as quick to help you find whatever you come searching for.

Nice store, well-stocked(maybe a little congested in the back where it feels like they have to cram in a lot of sale inventory) and friendly, though at times a bit pushy, staff. Came in on a whim during a shopping trip at Old Orchard and walked out with a few odds and ends for my kitchen. Was greeted multiple times by the staff and offered a free coffee(not a sample, an entire cup of coffee) from the latest Nespresso machines. A Nespresso aficionado myself, I was happy to listen to the sales woman explain the nuances of the latest technology and to treat myself to a full, free, quality cup of joe. Definitely if I had the $ 400 to spare I’d upgrade and she was doing a good job of selling me on the benefits without being overly pushy(though my non-coffee drinking SO felt like she was being a little intense). At checkout, the cashier tried to convince me to buy additional espresso cups to match the one I was buying, even when I said I was fine, so found that to be a bit annoying. My items were wrapped up with care, though, so can’t take off huge points.

This place is awesome! I took a couple cooking classes at this location with chef Alison Honiotes and she was absolutely great! She was so down to earth, friendly and answered all out questions! And not to for forget made incredibly delicious dishes for us! One of my favorites was the Beet and Goat Cheese Napoleons with Candied Walnuts! YUM!!! And a bonus, when class is done we all got a 10% coupon that can be used for a whole week to purchase anything in the store!

My experience here started out extremely positive. I walked in looking for something small — decorating tips — and I was greeted by a nice man who offered me espresso on a cold day and chatted with me about knives. It was then ruined by a rude woman who upon my turning down their $ 99 sale nonstick pan became extremely cold. And that’s my problem with most of the kitchen equipment stores. The judgment of rude workers. Yeah, I look young and not a rich white middle-aged suburbanite, but do you really need to a) give me cold stares when you’re the one who tried to rip me off on an overpriced mediocre piece of equipment and b) ignore me to talk to your friends about nothing for a long time when they walked in AFTER we made eye contact when I put my stuff down at the register? As far as equipment, this store is great. Large selection and variety and relatively well organized compared to other similar stores. There’s a clear baking section, espresso machines, knives, random spatula bins, grill equipment, pans. It’s relatively painless to navigate and things are easy to find. This particular Sur La Table is extra clean and well lit with enough open space to not make everything seem overwhelming. They also have a gorgeous kitchen in the back for cooking classes. I will be generous for now because this store was definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to, and I hope there’s just the one bad apple that I hope doesn’t get a chance to ruin the bunch. Dammit, I should have asked for her name. PS — They have Bob Kramer *designed* knives here. Not hand-made by him, so obviously they’re only(lol«only») ~$ 400 for a reason. Still nice freaking knives though. Maybe one day…

Great store with lots of cookware, dishes, and accessories to add to your kitchen. It gets 2 stars though because the checkout area is an absolute disaster. Be prepared to stand in line, but have other people from other lines get checked out before you(at the register you are standing at). One hot mess.
