I stay in the adjacent La Quinta now and then, and this is a decent nearby takeout option. Great prices. Most importantly, I want to give a shout out to Bonnie, the bartender. Attentive and kind, she makes the chain feel like a local joint. Thanks, Bonnie!

The food is good. I had chicken pot pie and my fiancé had country fried chicken and we both liked it. The staff are also pretty friendly. Only problem is the service is soooooo slooowwww. There are plenty of open tables but we had to wait 10 mins to be seated. Then another 20 to get our food and then 30 minutes waiting for the check. There aren’t even a lot of people here! Frustrating

Just stopped in for a drink after dinner. Its about 9:00 pm and there is a nice relaxed crowd sort of vegging, digesting their meals. Good music playing. A cute place… If it were near my home I’d come here often.

I come here very often, cuz I love their lobster rolls. Drinks are so good cuz the bartender lady knows how to mix a good drink. Staff are a bit rude especially the Spanish girl that ignored us for 6 minutes while she was looking miserable and texting in the corner where I guess you order for take out side(right) we headed to the bar were service was being provided and Atleast she acknowledged us. Our sweet chili boneless wings was on the house which was great. We had fish tacos to share. I had the Barbados breeze, hubby had the Mai tai which we both liked. My visit on Mother’s Day was the worst. I almost gave up this chain. Hubby order the prime ribs it was not medium rare, the server came by to drop the plate off with drench sauce all over the prime ribs and his baked potatoes was soaked! Like really ? Everyone got a flower so I was like can I get one and the guy shouted«is she a mother?» He looks like an x convict with tatts and even when we order the sweet chili boneless wings he was like«o yea it’s really good, especially if you smoke a blizz and have the munchies» like we don’t even smoke so STFU! But you can tell he was and prob on heroine too! I come here cuz the bartender makes excellent drinks& food are fairly priced but really there is a 99 near my home in Charlestown

I honestly had to sign up to create an account just because of how poor my experience was. I’ll be honest, I’ve always had a soft spot for the 99. While some people I’ve talked to call it another run-of-the-mill corporate owned chain restaurant, I’ve always relatively enjoyed my experience. The food isn’t outstanding, but it’s good enough and not too pricey. However, after this trip to this location by Assembly Row in Somerville, I am done with the 99 and urge all others who read this not to eat at the 99, primarily this location. For so many reasons. For starters, it’s filthy. It’s absolutely filthy. The table we were originally placed at wasn’t cleaned off. We needed to alert the waiter and they took us to another table. At the next booth we were at, it was still filthy. Maybe the table wasn’t as gross as the first one, but the lamp above our table was ridden with dust, slowly falling onto the table. Do these people know to clean their lamps hanging above where food is placed? It gets better. When we placed our appetizers, the waiter later came and gave us our dishes. The problem? The waiter looked at them and said, «Oh these are dirty, I’m sorry about that. I’ll go get clean ones.» Are you kidding? Oh, and he wreaked of cigarettes. Professional. Why are dirty dishes coming out of the kitchen? He placed the dirty dishes on the empty booth across from us and got new ones. They were a little bit cleaner. But then came the silverware. The forks we received were dirty and flat. A flat fork. I have NEVER seen that before in any restaurant. Then we waited ten minutes for the server to return to get a new one. Have I forgot to mention the appetizers still weren’t at the table? Now it’s been 20 minutes on a Friday at 4pm. The store was only half full, I have been served more quickly on weekends at 8pm. The actual main course took even longer, to which we debated cancelling the order and leaving. Luckily for the managers, I don’t like doing that and kept waiting for the food to arrive despite dirty cutlery, slow appetizer time, and the overall filth of the establishment. Now comes the food. The waitress delivers a steak sirloin tips plate to someone at my table and she leans over and asks us to cut open the steak to see if it’s cooked properly. If you have any doubt your food isn’t cooked properly, don’t tell the customer and ask US to check it. Business 101, isn’t it? We checked the sirloin and saw it was overcooked, it wasn’t cooked medium as asked. Neither was my All Star Burger, that was overcooked as well, despite asking for medium rare. My friends chicken tenders were very gross as well, as they were very chewy and hard to put down. They couldn’t even get the chicken tenders done. And the coupe de grace of it all? On our way out, we still see the dirty booth across from us. We saw a waitress clearing it off for what I assume was more customers coming in to sit there. And instead of giving it a thorough clean, she wiped off some crumbs WITH A MENU and left it and sat the patrons. It was disgusting. You can’t even wipe down a dirty table before seating patrons. I can excuse a restaurant for a bad day. I’ve been to other locations and had decent experiences. But the employees here have zero awareness, or maybe just a flat out neglect for cleanliness as a whole. That’s my issue. Maybe the food is bad one day, fine. But that combined with the overall neglect and giving customers such a poor experience has made me done with this location. They dont deserve my business or yours. The only reason this has two stars and not one is because the buffalo wings were half decent per usual. UPDATE: So I wanted to provide a quick update just to speak to the customer service of this location. After my initial review, the 99 customer service reps reached out to me. And later on, so did a manager that works at this specific location. They asked me a few questions via email and were going to mail me a gift card. I was actually and eventually going to change my review with a better rating because I figured they’re attempt to make up for this terrible experience was admirable. Alas, I am now over two months after giving them my mailing address to which I never received a gift card. It just shows they’ll say they care about the customer service, but they don’t. They forget about customers in a second. Not that it matters, myself and countless friends have stopped eating here.

I was visiting from out of town for my son’s graduation. The waitress that we had was so annoying and kept interrupting our dinner with her senseless banter. The lobster roll was just OK. I have had better. The décor is dated and the place looks very old. Floors were filthy and tables were sticky. I would venture elsewhere, if I were you.

99 can really hit the spot when I’m in the mood for it. This one has a nice open concept in the bar and part of the dining area. Always enough parking. Bar tenders are usually nice, a few can be stand-offish sometimes or seem to favor customers and ignore others, but that hasn’t happened in awhile in my last few visits. The food is good, nice thing about a chain is you know what to expect food-wise. I think they do trivia on Thursdays. I used to go but it always ran too long/late for me. Prices are good, portions are big enough to make into another meal for the next day.

I come here on a semi regular basis, but on this Wednesday night around 9PM, it was something else! I am used to excellent service at the bar where my boyfriend and I typically eat, but tonight I was in for surprise. I was ignored at my first request for two waters. When we were finally served it was after a while and then, fleeting. I had one drink and then had to wait three quarters of the way through my meal to get her attention. I felt as though I was bothering her to get any service whatsoever. She forgot my boyfriend’s side and which was corrected, but then never asked how the meal was after that. The food was very good but the service was a disappointment. I would come back, but only on nights when I know I’m going to be treated well by bartenders and servers who know how to treat customers.

So far pretty good. Think TGIF Fridays but the food is better. How can you have anything bad to say when you get free popcorn. I’ll be back, and probably up the rating. Dinner: beef veg soup and scrod with garlic mash potatoes. I’m full and happy.

I’ve been to several 99 Restaurants but I have never seen this level of service & perfection anywhere. I came to Assembly Square to unwind from one helluva week. I opted to come here verses Legal Mystic Seafood or any of the undeniably great bars n the area b/c I just wanted to chill, relax, without the whole fancy dancy typical scene they often have on the weekends. This restaurant/pub did not disappoint. Service was beyond amazing,. Yes, it’s all true about the 5 star rating I gave it. I don’t often get a chance to go out b/c I work like 7 days a week make no mistake, this place is nothing less than priceless.

I’ve been coming to this 99 restaurant since I was a kid, and I’m sad to say that tonight is the last night I will ever order from here again. I ordered the Crispy Honey Mustard Chicken Salad– my regular order. I took it to go, and was disappointed to see old, soggy spinach and lettuce. Unfortunately, I had eaten several bites before seeing the rancid pieces. I’ve included some photos. I’m going to miss what this place used to be.

Not amazing, but for the price it’s a great place for an American food lunch/dinner. Has a full bar, tv screens showing games, and plenty of seating. I got the chicken tenders with fries and cole slaw on the side. As a whole the meal was fine, I left feeling full. But the prices were very reasonable. They don’t serve Coke/Diet Coke, only Pepsi stuff. Service was good. Overall I would(and probably will) come back.

I know about food but this was completely horrible — I came here before about 5 – 6 years ago and food was great you could feel the freshness … But I came today order my baby back ribs — it was rubbery and hard — to ppl that don’t know baby back ribs meat should fall off not get stuck to the fork and just stay there … I’m not sure if these ppl just freeze their food or what but I don’t recommend to eat it… Besides that scenery is nice and staff is very friendly took the food back

Great food and amazingly friendly and helpful service from our server Heidi. Chicken tips and tenders were great as were the pretzel sticks appetizers. Hit the spot after Legoland and everyone was happy. We would definitely recommend(and we don’t normally write reviews)!

For a chain restaurant, I was very impressed. Great service; seated promptly and they accommodated our request to move when our first table was real sunny and bright. Food was pretty good. I got fried shrimp for $ 10 and my girlfriend got chicken I think. I would go back. Great place if you want a quick, inexpensive comfort food meal.

We were staying at the La Quinta hotel across the parking lot from 99 this past weekend, and were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. The woman at the hotel’s front desk recommended 99. I had never heard of it before, and she described it as being similar to an Applebee’s. I’ve never liked Applebee’s, so I was skeptical of 99, but it was convenient so we gave it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is fresh. I had a turkey and havarti sandwich from their Lunch Express menu. The sandwich was very good and the bread was great. It came with a choice of side, and I chose the salad. The lettuce was really fresh and the dressing was good. I would definitely go back to another 99.

Probably a 3.5. I’m not a lover of chain restaurants but this was good for what it was. Felt like a Fridays or Applebee’s type place… Gimmicky, etc. But the food was good. Sat at the bar and loved the service. Especially enjoyed Pami.

Yes, it’s true. I’m reviewing the 99 Restaurant(Great Meals, Great Deals… as per the TV commercial). My parents stay at the La Quinta across the way, and since we’re all sweaty, tired, cranky, and disgusting, and my smartphone couldn’t tell me that there was a Panera down the street, so we went here for lunch on a hot, humid day. Sure, it’s a chain, and sure, it’s a value-based chain, and a little hokey. Sure, it’s not somewhere you’d take clients to impress them per se, but we don’t care. I don’t eat dairy, but I ordered the lunch special Caprese sandwich without mozzarella and asked for additional tomatoes, with a side of fries. I was expecting it to suck. It didn’t suck. It was REALLYFREAKINGGOOD. The bread was warm, the basil was fresh, and the balsamic dressing was yummy. It’s a very humble place, the employees are hard-working, take-pride-in-their-jobs type. I appreciate that.
